Last reviewed: July 30, 2026. This page explains what BestProps evidence labels mean, what they do not mean, and how editorial recommendations are separated from facts. The short version: we verify narrow claims, not entire firms, and we do not use an overall numerical score unless readers can inspect the inputs and calculation.
How to read BestProps labels
| Label | What it means | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| Source-documented | A current official or primary source directly supports the narrow fact being stated. The page should identify the source and checked date. | It is not an endorsement of the firm or proof of every related claim. |
| Independently verified | At least two independent sources support the same narrow fact, usually including an official or primary source. | It is not a firm-wide finding about legitimacy, solvency, payouts, safety, or performance. |
| Official-source verified | A qualified label used on some pages when a firm-owned source showed the specific offer or term during the stated source check. | It does not mean BestProps completed checkout, purchased an account, or verified a broader firm claim. |
| Reviewed | BestProps examined the documents and page scope described in the article. | It does not imply hands-on platform use, trading, checkout, or a payout request. |
| Tested | A first-hand procedure was recorded with the feature, account or workflow, date, method, result, and limitations. | The label must not be inferred from document research. If that record does not exist, we do not call the product tested. |
| Best | An editorial fit for a named use case under the criteria stated on that page, such as rule fit, documented cost, platform compatibility, or drawdown structure. | It is not a universal winner, guaranteed outcome, or promise that the choice suits every trader. |
| Trusted | When used, it must describe a clearly bounded evidence dimension or the reliability of a process. | It is not a categorical firm label and does not establish regulatory status, solvency, payout reliability, or safety. |
| Document-based analysis | The conclusion comes from identified public documents, normally official terms, help pages, pricing pages, status notices, or other primary sources. | It does not mean BestProps bought an account, placed trades, tested execution, or requested a payout. |
A bare “verified firm” label is too broad. A useful verification label identifies what was checked, the source class, the check date, and any important limit. Facts that can change—such as fees, drawdown rules, platforms, payout eligibility, country restrictions, and offer windows—must be rechecked before they are presented as current.
Our numerical score policy
BestProps does not currently publish an overall numerical rating or decimal score as an editorial conclusion. A score can look more precise than its evidence. We will not introduce one unless readers can inspect all of the following:
- the scoring dimensions and fixed weights;
- the source and checked date for every scored input;
- how missing, conflicting, program-specific, and stale evidence is handled;
- the calculation from inputs to output;
- the refresh cadence and dated change history; and
- the rule that a commercial relationship cannot improve a score or suppress a material caveat.
Until those controls exist, we use source-visible comparison criteria and fit-based recommendations rather than a decimal ranking. Transparent calculations may still appear when the formula, inputs, plan scope, source date, and limitations are shown. A calculation is not an overall editorial score.
How a recommendation is made
- Define the use case. The page states the trader type, market, program stage, or decision it is addressing.
- Choose relevant criteria. Depending on the question, these can include documented fees, drawdown mechanics, daily and overall limits, payout eligibility, account type, platform fit, and maintenance cost.
- Check consequential facts. Current official terms and primary sources come first. Third-party pages, social posts, testimonials, and forums can suggest what to investigate but do not verify a changing rule.
- Separate fact from judgment. Sourced terms are facts about the source record; “best for” or “better fit” is an editorial interpretation tied to the stated use case.
- Show limits and conflicts. Missing evidence, program-specific differences, conflicting sources, simulation status, and facts not independently checked are stated rather than guessed.
- Recheck before active use. Time-sensitive claims receive a current source check. Stale evidence is updated, narrowed, labeled historical, or removed.
Source hierarchy
- Primary and official sources: published terms, help-center articles, pricing pages, official status notices, checkout terms, program rules, and regulator or court records where relevant.
- Independent documented sources: useful for corroborating a narrow fact when their independence and evidence can be evaluated.
- Discovery sources: search results, aggregators, reviews, social posts, forums, videos, and testimonials. These can identify questions or conflicts but are not treated as proof by themselves.
Commercial relationships and recommendations
Commercial terms may determine what appears in a clearly labeled commercial module, but they do not lower the evidence standard, remove material rule or risk caveats, or turn an unsupported claim into a fact. Material commercial connections must be disclosed near the affected link, offer, code, placement, or comparison row. Read the BestProps Commercial Disclosure.
Related evidence classifications
For public claims, incidents, and reputational topics, BestProps uses a separate evidence ladder that distinguishes unverified rumor, public chatter, reported claims, firm-acknowledged information, independently verified facts, and source-documented facts. See Rumor vs Fact: How We Classify Prop Firm Claims.
Corrections and questions
If a label, source, score, or recommendation appears broader than the evidence supports, send the page URL and supporting source through the BestProps contact page. BestProps will narrow, correct, qualify, or remove unsupported language rather than preserve false precision.
