Key takeaways
Lucid Trading is a futures prop firm, not a trading platform.
Read the full summary
Lucid Trading is a futures prop firm, not a trading platform. Its accounts run on two data feeds: CQG, which you trade through Tradovate, TradingView or NinjaTrader, and Rithmic, which you trade through Quantower, Tradesea, MotiveWave, Sierra Chart, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, R|Trader Pro or MultiCharts. That is 12 platforms, and Lucid says every one works with every Lucid account type. CQG accounts start with a first login at Tradovate in a desktop browser; Rithmic accounts start by signing the Rithmic agreements as a Non-Professional in R|Trader Pro. To connect TradingView, open the Trade panel, pick Tradovate, choose Demo and log in with your Lucid credentials; you do not buy Tradovate’s TradingView add-on. ProjectX is no longer on Lucid’s list after ProjectX wound down its third-party service through February 28, 2026. Copy trading is allowed (Tradovate Group Trade, the R|Trader Pro copier or third-party copiers), but hedging across accounts is banned and copier errors are never refunded. The Lucid app on iPhone and Android manages accounts and payouts; it is not where you place trades. Checked October 13, 2026.
This guide answers one question in depth: which platforms you can use with a Lucid Trading account and how to connect each one. It covers the CQG and Rithmic routes, step-by-step setup for TradingView, Tradovate, NinjaTrader, R|Trader Pro, Tradesea, Quantower, MotiveWave and Sierra Chart, what happened to ProjectX, the Lucid mobile app, and the rules for copy trading across several Lucid accounts. Every platform fact below was read from Lucid’s help centre and setup pages, or from Tradovate’s and NinjaTrader’s own support articles, on October 13, 2026. We did not buy an account, so anything that only shows up after purchase is marked as read from public pages and not verified by purchase.
What Platform Does Lucid Trading Use?
Lucid does not have its own charting or order-entry platform. You buy a Lucid evaluation or funded account, Lucid issues trading credentials for a data feed, and you log in to a third-party platform with those credentials. Lucid’s help-centre article Lucid Trading Supported Platforms (last updated October 12, 2026, read October 13, 2026) splits its platforms by feed and states: “All listed platforms work with all Lucid account types.” The article’s own summary line says the platforms work “across LucidFlex and LucidPro accounts”, so the two sentences are not worded the same way; the body text is the broader and more recent statement.
| Platform | Data feed | Log in with | Lucid’s own setup guide | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tradovate (web, desktop, mobile) | CQG | Lucid’s Tradovate credentials | Lucid Setup Guide | First login must be here, in a desktop browser |
| TradingView | CQG (through Tradovate) | Lucid’s Tradovate credentials | None; Tradovate publishes the steps | Choose Demo, not Live, when connecting |
| NinjaTrader Desktop | CQG (through Tradovate) | Lucid’s Tradovate credentials | None; NinjaTrader publishes the steps | Select Simulated mode |
| R|Trader Pro | Rithmic | Rithmic user ID and password from the Lucid dashboard | Rithmic Account Setup | Official Rithmic platform; used to sign agreements |
| Quantower | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials | Rithmic Account Setup, Quantower guide | Lucid calls it a Lucid Partner; licence requested in the dashboard |
| Tradesea | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials | Tradesea Setup | Has an iPhone app |
| MotiveWave | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials (ID starts with LT-) | Rithmic Account Setup | Licence requested in the dashboard; includes a copy trader |
| Sierra Chart | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials (starts with LT-) | Rithmic Account Setup | Uses Sierra’s own Denali data for charts |
| Jigsaw | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials | None published | Listed only |
| Bookmap | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials | None published | Listed only |
| ATAS | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials | None published | Listed only |
| MultiCharts | Rithmic | Rithmic credentials | None published | Listed only |
Lucid’s General FAQ gives a shorter list (NinjaTrader, Tradovate and a range of Rithmic platforms) and adds that “platform access depends on your data provider”. TradingView is missing from that FAQ answer but is on the help-centre list, which is the page Lucid links to as the full list. Lucid’s homepage also shows a “Select Platform” step in its plan builder, so the platform route is part of the purchase. Lucid’s help centre does not publish a general policy for switching an existing account between CQG and Rithmic after purchase; ask support before you buy if you are unsure.
The question mixes up two things. Lucid is the firm that sets the rules and pays out; the platform is the software you trade in, and Lucid lets you pick from 12 of them. So judge the platform on your own needs (charting, order flow, copy tools, Mac or Windows, mobile) and judge Lucid separately on its rules, costs and payout record, which our Lucid Trading review covers.
CQG or Rithmic: Which Lucid Trading Route to Choose
Your choice of feed decides which platforms you can open, how you log in the first time, and a few rule details. This table sets the two routes side by side using only what Lucid, Tradovate and NinjaTrader publish.
| CQG route | Rithmic route | |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | Tradovate, TradingView, NinjaTrader | Quantower, Tradesea, MotiveWave, Sierra Chart, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, R|Trader Pro, MultiCharts |
| First step | Log in to Tradovate first, “even if you plan on trading on NinjaTrader or TradingView” (Lucid Setup Guide) | Sign the Rithmic Trading Agreements in R|Trader Pro, or on Rithmic’s web form on a Mac |
| Data status to choose | Non-professional (Tradovate locks the choice after signing) | Non-Professional (Lucid’s Rithmic and Tradesea guides) |
| Free platform licence from Lucid | Not published | Quantower and MotiveWave licences, requested in the Lucid dashboard |
| Built-in copy tool | Tradovate Group Trade (web and desktop only) | R|Trader Pro Trade Copier; MotiveWave copy trader |
| Trade on a phone | Tradovate mobile app (after the first desktop login) | Tradesea iPhone app |
| Weekend access | No weekend maintenance warning published by Lucid | “Rithmic is on maintenance over the weekend”; logins may fail |
| Close-out on sim accounts | 4:45 PM ET, Monday to Friday | 4:45 PM ET, Monday to Friday |
| Hold limit on LucidLive | Until 4:45 PM ET on Tradovate Live | Until 4:15 PM ET on Rithmic Live |
Sources: Lucid Setup Guide, Lucid Rithmic Account Setup, Allowed Trading Times, Tradovate: Using Your Prop or Evaluation Account, all read October 13, 2026.
- Pick CQG if you chart in TradingView, already know NinjaTrader, or want to place trades from the Tradovate phone app. Everything starts from one Tradovate login.
- Pick Rithmic if you want an order-flow or DOM platform such as Quantower, Bookmap, ATAS, Jigsaw or Sierra Chart, a free Quantower or MotiveWave licence, or the R|Trader Pro copier.
- Live-account detail: Lucid lets LucidLive positions run until 4:45 PM ET on Tradovate but only until 4:15 PM ET on Rithmic. If you trade the last half hour of the cash session, that matters once you are live.
- Weekends: Rithmic maintenance can block weekend logins, so weekend platform setup is easier on the CQG side.
How to Connect Lucid Trading to Tradovate
Tradovate is the base of Lucid’s CQG route. Lucid’s Setup Guide says to “use credentials from Email or Dashboard to Login to Tradovate”, and Tradovate’s own prop and evaluation account guide (updated September 29, 2026) fills in the screens you will see. Lucid also appears on Tradovate’s prop-firm partner page.
- Find your credentials. After purchase, Lucid sends trading credentials by email and shows them in your dashboard. These are separate from the email and password you use on lucidtrading.com.
- Open trader.tradovate.com in a computer browser. Tradovate says the first login must be on a desktop or laptop browser, not the mobile app, because that first login triggers the market-data certification.
- Log in with the Lucid username and password. Do not type your email address. If paste fails with the mouse, Tradovate suggests Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V (Cmd on a Mac).
- Review the Market Data Subscriber Certification and pick your status. Choose Non-Professional if that describes you; Tradovate says the choice is locked once signed and only your account provider can change it.
- Sign the Uniform Subscriber Agreement. Type your name exactly as shown. The field rejects accented letters, so ask Lucid to fix the name on file if yours has one.
- Accept the licence agreement if prompted, then choose Simulation. Tradovate is blunt here: “Always choose Simulation, not Live.” Choosing Live sends you into a brokerage application you do not need.
- Check the account list. Your Lucid account should appear in the workspace. If it does not, Lucid’s FAQ says to allow 15 to 30 minutes in busy periods, then open a ticket with your email, order ID and platform.
Lucid’s Setup Guide says a non-professional trader “does not pay for the exchange data feed”, while a professional trader pays “$112 per exchange (CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX)” a month. Read the definitions before you tick a box, because the status locks after you sign.
How to Connect Lucid Trading to TradingView
TradingView connects to a Lucid account through Tradovate, so finish the Tradovate steps above first. Lucid publishes no TradingView guide of its own; the steps below come from Tradovate’s TradingView Connection Guide (updated October 1, 2026, read October 13, 2026).
- Log in to TradingView with your TradingView account.
- Click Trade (top right of the chart) and select Tradovate from the broker list.
- Choose Demo, then Connect. Tradovate: “If you are using a prop firm/evaluation service that provides you access to TradingView, select Demo trading from the account selection screen.”
- Sign in with your Lucid trading credentials on the Tradovate page that opens, then click Login.
- Pick the Lucid account in TradingView’s trading panel and confirm the symbol is the current front contract before your first order.
Three points that trip people up, all from Tradovate’s guide:
- Do not buy the TradingView add-on. Tradovate says prop and evaluation users “do not need to subscribe to the TradingView add-on or pay for access. TradingView availability is managed entirely by your prop firm.” When you are logged in with prop credentials, the add-on purchase option is not shown at all.
- Data comes from Tradovate, not TradingView. Market data enabled on the Tradovate account applies to TradingView charts, and “a separate TradingView data subscription is not required”. Expect small price differences between the two charts; Tradovate says they build bars differently.
- Order types are narrower. OCO orders cannot be attached to an open position in TradingView, brackets attach only to entries placed from the Order Panel (not the chart buy and sell buttons), and Tradovate’s Group Trade does not work inside TradingView.
Lucid does not publish whether a free TradingView plan is enough to connect; Tradovate’s standalone add-on (for non-prop users) requires a valid TradingView subscription, but that add-on does not apply to Lucid accounts. If the connection fails with “Something went wrong, contact your broker” or orders are rejected as a “Non-tradable symbol”, Tradovate’s guide points first to the contract month and then to your account provider, which here is Lucid support.
How to Connect Lucid Trading to NinjaTrader
Lucid lists NinjaTrader under CQG, and its Setup Guide says you sign in to Tradovate first even if NinjaTrader is where you plan to trade. Tradovate’s prop guide confirms the same Lucid username and password work in the NinjaTrader Desktop app. NinjaTrader’s support article Connecting to a Tradovate Account – NinjaTrader Desktop (updated June 22, 2026) gives two paths:
| Your NinjaTrader setup | Steps |
|---|---|
| Multi-Provider mode off | Download NinjaTrader Desktop from the NinjaTrader dashboard, install and launch it, enter the Lucid trading username and password at the login screen, then choose Simulated mode. Trades sync with Tradovate both ways. |
| Multi-Provider mode on | Control Center > Connections > Configure, double-click NinjaTrader as the connection type, rename it (for example “Lucid”), enter the Lucid trading username and password, set the mode to Simulated, save, then connect from the Connections menu. |
One caution: Tradovate says its Group Trade copy feature does not work inside NinjaTrader Desktop, so a multi-account NinjaTrader setup needs a separate copier (see the copy-trading section below). Whatever automatic stop and target templates you use in NinjaTrader, keep their size inside your Lucid account’s contract limit.
Lucid Trading Rithmic Setup: R|Trader Pro and the Rithmic Agreements
Every Rithmic platform needs the Rithmic Trading Agreements signed once before it will connect. Lucid’s Rithmic Account Setup page walks through it:
- Download R|Trader Pro (Windows) from Rithmic and launch it. On a Mac, Lucid says to sign the agreements on Rithmic’s web form instead, then come back to the guide.
- Fill in the login screen. User ID and Password: from your Lucid dashboard (copy and paste to avoid typos). System: LucidTrading. Gateway: Chicago Area.
- Sign the Rithmic Trading Agreements as a Non-Professional. Lucid says this only needs doing once.
- Close R|Trader Pro. It does not need to stay open while you trade on another Rithmic platform.
In Tradesea, the credentials live under “Show Credentials” at the top right of the Account Summary page in the Lucid dashboard, according to Lucid’s Tradesea guide. Lucid also warns that Rithmic runs maintenance over the weekend, so logins may not work then.
Lucid Trading Tradesea Setup
Tradesea is a Rithmic platform with a browser station and an iPhone app. Lucid’s Tradesea Setup page gives these steps:
- Log in to Tradesea with Google, or with your email and the one-time code Tradesea sends.
- Open the Account Centre and click Connect New at the top left.
- Select Lucid Trading and click Connect.
- Enter your Rithmic credentials from the Lucid dashboard. Tradesea prompts you to sign the Rithmic agreements; sign as a Non-Professional.
- Check the Account Centre shows the account as Connected, then open Station.
If Tradesea says Connected but the account is missing from Station, Lucid’s guide says to reopen the Account Centre, refresh the platform and pick the right account in the account selector. Tradesea’s own support (help.tradesea.ai, support@tradesea.ai and its Discord) handles platform questions.
Quantower, MotiveWave and Sierra Chart Setup for Lucid
Lucid publishes connection steps for three more Rithmic platforms on its Rithmic setup page, and says it has “partnered with MotiveWave and Quantower to provide you with a trading platform if you don’t already have your own”, with the licence request in the Lucid dashboard. In all three, sign the Rithmic agreements first.
| Platform | Where to connect | Server / system to pick | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quantower | Click any connection in the task bar to open Connections Manager, search “Lucid”, select Lucid Trading | LucidTrading Chicago Area | Pick Lucid Trading, not a default Rithmic server |
| MotiveWave | Workspaces > New Workspace > Add Connection, provider Rithmic, username starting LT-, Test Connection | System: Lucid Trading | Exit and relaunch MotiveWave after creating the workspace, then connect |
| Sierra Chart | File / Data Service: Rithmic Direct – DTC [trading] | LucidTrading-Chicago Area-Non-Aggregated | No need to tick market or historical data; Sierra’s Denali data feeds the charts |
Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS and MultiCharts are on Lucid’s list, but Lucid publishes no Lucid-specific steps for them. They use the same Rithmic user ID and password from the Lucid dashboard; follow the platform’s own Rithmic connection guide and look for a Lucid Trading system or server in its list, as the guides above use.
Lucid Trading ProjectX: What Happened and What to Use Now
ProjectX is not on Lucid’s supported-platform list, its homepage or its FAQ as of October 13, 2026. The reason is on ProjectX’s own homepage, which says it decided “to wind down our ProjectX third-party service offering” for most of the firms that used it, and would keep “supporting partners who are sunsetting the ProjectX offering through February 28, 2026.” The same notice tells traders who want to keep using the platform to go to TopstepX.
| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| November 2025 | Finance Magnates reported that Lucid’s CEO posted on Discord that ProjectX had scheduled a meeting “to announce their intent to discontinue support for all third-party firms” and would move “exclusively to TopStep”. | Finance Magnates, November 17, 2025 |
| Through February 28, 2026 | ProjectX supports partners that are sunsetting its platform. | ProjectX homepage |
| October 13, 2026 | Lucid’s supported list has no ProjectX; its ProjectX transfer form page reads “This page is no longer available.” | Lucid help centre, Lucid transfer page |
| October 13, 2026 | Lucid still hosts a ProjectX data outage disclaimer: no refunds, credits or adjustments for ProjectX outages, and corrective action follows ProjectX’s guidance only. | Lucid ProjectX disclaimer |
What this means for you: a new Lucid account runs on CQG (Tradovate, TradingView, NinjaTrader) or Rithmic, not ProjectX. If ProjectX’s interface is what you want, ProjectX’s notice points traders who want to keep using it to TopstepX; our Lucid Trading vs Topstep comparison sets the two firms side by side. If you searched for a “Lucid X” platform, Lucid lists no platform by that name today.
The Lucid Trading App: What It Does and What It Does Not
Lucid has its own app on both stores, but it is an account and payout app, not an order-entry platform. You still place trades in one of the 12 platforms above.
| iPhone (App Store) | Android (Google Play) | |
|---|---|---|
| Listing | Lucid Trading App | Lucid Trading |
| Developer | Lucid Trading Group LLC | Lucid Trading Group LLC |
| Rating shown | 4.5 from 125 ratings | 4.7 from 90 reviews, 10K+ downloads |
| Last update | October 10, 2026 | October 9, 2026 |
| Features listed | Account dashboard, Pro, Flex, Direct and Maxx account management, payout notifications, trading credentials and platform access, funded certificates, Discord link, biometric lock, prediction games, promo vault | View evaluation and funded accounts, balances, profit targets and rules; request payouts; link a bank through Plaid or add a crypto wallet; track payout history |
What the public reviews show: on Google Play, one reviewer mentions quick access to credentials, account stats and a daily list of news events. On the App Store, one review reported a purchase button that did not work and no notification setting, and another described being locked out and only reaching an AI support bot. Those are individual reviews, not a measured fault rate.
To place trades on a phone, Lucid’s options are the Tradovate mobile app on the CQG route (after your first desktop login, per Tradovate) or the Tradesea iPhone app on the Rithmic route. Tradovate’s Group Trade copier does not work in the Tradovate mobile app.
How to Copy Trade on Lucid Trading
Copy trading is allowed. Lucid’s Other Trading Activities article says “Automated trading systems and trade copiers are permitted”, that all automated activity must follow Lucid’s rules, and that “traders are fully responsible for any software errors, malfunctions, or unintended outcomes”. The General FAQ adds that both in-platform and third-party copiers are fine.
Lucid Trading copy trading rules
- Copy your own accounts only, in the same direction. Prohibited: Hedging bans opposite positions in the same contract across separate accounts, and opposite positions in correlated contracts across accounts (Lucid’s example: long ES in one account, short NQ in another). It also bans hedging between users’ accounts and between different firms. A copier with an inverted follower is a hedge.
- Count your accounts. Up to 5 funded accounts and 10 evaluation accounts per household, with a combined cap of 10 (Maximum Number of Accounts). The most you can copy into at once is therefore 10, of which no more than 5 are funded.
- Do not trade for anyone else. Lucid’s Terms of Use prohibit “trading on behalf of others” and coordinated trading between connected or unconnected accounts meant to pool or hedge risk.
- Fast bots face the same speed rules. Microscalping is flagged when more than 50% of profits come from trades held 5 seconds or less, and high-frequency trading is banned outright. A copier multiplies the same pattern across every follower.
- Respect each account’s size limit. On LucidFlex funded accounts the scaling plan sets the contract limit from each account’s own profit, updated at the end of each session; Lucid says circumventing the limit can wipe that day’s profit. LucidPro is marketed with “No scaling rules” on Lucid’s homepage.
- Copier failures are on you. Lucid’s refund policy lists trade-copier malfunctions among the issues it will not refund, credit or adjust, and its Rithmic copier page says the same.
Copy-trading tools that work with Lucid accounts
| Tool | Route | How it works | Limits published by the provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tradovate Group Trade | CQG | Place, modify or manage one order across several accounts at once in Tradovate Web and Desktop | Same Tradovate login only; not in mobile apps, TradingView or NinjaTrader Desktop; each account counts as a separate API request, so “Too Many Requests” errors are more common (Tradovate) |
| R|Trader Pro Trade Copier | Rithmic | Built into R|Trader Pro: pick a leader account, add follower accounts, enable each one, set a quantity multiplier | Lucid gives no technical support for the copier and no refunds for copier errors |
| MotiveWave copy trader | Rithmic | Included in the MotiveWave Order Flow licence Lucid provides | Lucid: check that orders executed and cancelled correctly after every trade |
| Third-party copiers | Either | Separate software linked to your accounts | Allowed by Lucid; you carry all software risk |
Setting up the R|Trader Pro copier, from Lucid’s Rithmic Trade Copier Guide and its PDF:
- Update R|Trader Pro if you do not see Trade Copier (File > Check for updates).
- Open Trade Copier and click Add Copy From; choose the leader account.
- Click Add Copy To and choose the follower accounts (Ctrl+click or Shift+click for several).
- Switch each follower from Disabled to Enabled and set the Quantity Multiplier if a follower should trade a different size.
- Place a one-lot test trade and confirm it landed, with the same exit, in every follower before you trade full size.
Worked example: copying into five LucidFlex 50K funded accounts
Say you hold five LucidFlex 50K funded accounts and trade 3 minis in the leader. Per the LucidFlex scaling table, a 50K account may trade 2 minis (or 20 micros) while its funded profit is $0 to $999, 3 minis from $1,000, and 4 minis from $2,000. If two of the followers are still under $1,000 of profit, a straight 1x copy of 3 minis puts them over their limit. Set those followers to a size of 2 minis (or switch to micros) until each account crosses $1,000 at a session close, because the limit only updates at the end of the session.
| Funded profit | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $0 to $999 | 1 mini / 10 micros | 2 minis / 20 micros | 3 minis / 30 micros | 4 minis / 40 micros |
| $1,000 to $1,999 | 2 minis / 20 micros | 3 minis / 30 micros | 4 minis / 40 micros | 5 minis / 50 micros |
| $2,000 to $2,999 | 2 minis / 20 micros | 4 minis / 40 micros | 5 minis / 50 micros | 6 minis / 60 micros |
| $3,000 to $4,499 | 2 minis / 20 micros | 4 minis / 40 micros | 6 minis / 60 micros | 8 minis / 80 micros |
| $4,500+ | 2 minis / 20 micros | 4 minis / 40 micros | 6 minis / 60 micros | 10 minis / 100 micros |
Lucid’s table shows a dash for 25K above $1,999, 50K above $2,999 and 100K above $4,499; we carry the top tier across, which is the account’s maximum size. Full LucidFlex terms are in our LucidFlex rules and payouts guide.
Platform Rules That Catch Lucid Traders Out
- Flat by 4:45 PM ET. On LucidPro, LucidFlex and LucidDirect, all positions must be closed by 4:45 PM ET Monday to Friday, and Lucid auto-closes anything left open. Holding past that time is not a failed account, but your platform will be flattened. Trading resumes at 6:00 PM ET Sunday to Thursday, and holiday early closes override the usual cut-off (Allowed Trading Times).
- No outside or slow data feeds. Lucid’s Terms of Use list “performing trades using an external or slow data feed” and trading outside the best bid or offer as prohibited. Trade on the feed Lucid issues.
- Outages are not compensated. Lucid’s refund policy excludes data-feed and platform errors, third-party apps and indicators, your own internet problems and slippage. Its FAQ says it does not compensate for CME market halts.
- Liquidation-only mode. Lucid’s FAQ names three common causes: a max loss limit breach, platform-side personal risk settings, or copier configuration issues. Send screenshots of the platform and dashboard in a ticket if you cannot tell which.
- Contract limits are enforced at the platform. Lucid says each platform or data-feed provider has guard
