Why Canada is more than a yes/no

Even when a firm doesn’t list Canada as restricted, these can still decide whether you can buy, get funded, or get paid. None of this is legal or tax advice.

  • Your province matters. A firm can accept “Canada” yet limit it to one province. Tradeify and Purdia are the clearest examples here: Tradeify names only Ontario residents for Sim Funded, while Purdia restricts Canada except traders residing in Ontario.
  • Residency vs citizenship. Some firms check where you live, some check your passport, and some check both — plus long stays in other countries.
  • Live vs simulated funded. “Available” can mean evaluation and simulated payouts only, not a live brokerage account (Apex flags this for Canada via Tradovate).
  • Futures vs Forex/CFD. A brand can run separate products with separate country lists — FXIFY and FXIFY Futures are the clearest example on this page.
  • Payment origin, KYC and AML. Card/bank country, ID and address checks, and payout-processor rules can block setup even when the country isn’t “restricted.”
  • Broker / platform routing. The underlying broker, clearing firm, or platform provider (e.g. Tradovate) can add its own Canada limits on top of the prop firm’s.
What each label means

Canada named — the firm’s own source mentions Canada or a Canadian province directly.

Not on restricted list — the firm publishes a blocked-country list and Canada was not in the version we captured on July 3 or July 5, 2026. Not a green light; confirm at checkout/KYC.

Re-check before buying — our directory and the firm’s current official page disagree about Canada. Read the source first.

Needs source — we don’t have a fresh official Canada/restricted-country page on file for that firm yet, so it isn’t shown as available.

Province, tax and payout notes

This page doesn’t decide whether a prop firm is legal, suitable, or tax-efficient for a Canadian trader. It only records what each firm’s captured source says about country eligibility. Province rules can exist even when a firm doesn’t list Canada — Tradeify’s Ontario note is the example. For legal, regulatory, or tax questions use primary Canadian regulator and CRA materials or a qualified professional. BestProps did not test checkout, KYC, account approval, live-account conversion, payout approval, or payment rails.

How we sourced this

The firm list is the BestProps directory. Restricted-country labels in the directory are only a starting clue — every public label here requires an official firm source such as terms, an eligibility article, a help-center page, or official checkout/app evidence when no normal help article exists. Third-party listicles and Reddit results were used only to understand what searchers want, never as facts about a named firm. Spot a change? Send the official link through the BestProps contact page and we’ll re-check the row.

How to read this: labels come from official firm sources captured on July 3 and July 5, 2026. “Not on restricted list” means Canada wasn’t in the list we saw — it is not a guarantee you can buy, pass KYC, hold a live account, or get paid. Always open the firm’s own source before buying. This page currently has no signup links, paid placements, sponsored rows, or monetized routing.
