Trading a Rithmic-routed futures prop account and your platform just froze? Rithmic is a shared data-and-order rail for many futures accounts, so a rail issue can hit every account routed through it at once. Before you reinstall anything, the real question isn’t only “is Rithmic down?” — it’s which layer broke: Rithmic, CME, your broker/FCM, your prop firm, the front-end platform, or your own setup. This page gives you the official sources to check, a 60-second triage to pin the layer, and a record of what has actually taken traders offline before.

Check now

Check this first What it tells you
Rithmic support contact and Rithmic news Official Rithmic support/news sources. BestProps found the old public advisories URL unreliable in the July 4, 2026 source check, so use these before assuming a live rail outage.
CME Global Command Center alerts Official CME production alerts for market halts, system outages, and related exchange notices. If CME itself is halted, every rail (Rithmic, CQG, Tradovate) can be affected.
Your prop firm’s status page Firm-side reboots, maintenance, and credential issues. Example: Apex publishes a status page. Check whichever firm holds your account.
Your front-end platform help page If Rithmic, CME, and your firm are quiet, check the platform layer next. Example: Quantower publishes Rithmic issue guidance for login, data, and gateway errors.

If your chart, data, or order routing is broken

Use this flow before changing settings. It will not prove an outage by itself; it helps you decide which official source or support desk to check first.

Step 1 · Whole market?

Check CME first

If all futures platforms are frozen, start with CME Global Command Center alerts.

  • If CME shows a halt or degraded system, it is not a Rithmic-only issue.
  • If CME looks normal, move to the Rithmic and firm layers.
Step 2 · Rithmic rail?

Check Rithmic support/news

Rithmic’s support form covers technical support, login problems, and platform connectivity. It also notes routine maintenance windows.

Step 3 · Firm account?

Check your prop firm

If only your firm cohort is affected, it may be a credential reset, account migration, reboot, or product-specific support issue.

  • Open your firm’s status/support page before blaming the rail.
  • For firm-issued R | Trader Pro access, account and billing questions usually go back to the firm.
Step 4 · Broker/FCM?

Check provider credentials

If Rithmic is reachable but your account cannot authenticate, the issue may sit with the broker, FCM, or funding evaluator that issued the login.

  • Rithmic says R | Trader Pro access comes through your broker, funding evaluator, or FCM.
  • For account login and credential questions, Rithmic tells users to contact their broker or prop firm first.
Step 5 · Platform/local?

Check front-end settings

If official sources are quiet and only your setup fails, check credentials, server/gateway, agreements, plugin mode, data entitlements, and whether the account is newly activated.

  • Quantower lists common Rithmic causes: wrong server, unaccepted agreements, R | Trader plugin mode, direct-connection limits, expired demos, and missing Level 2 data.
  • Rithmic’s R | Trader Pro page says access requires broker/FCM credentials and Windows desktop support.

Is it Rithmic, CME, firm, broker, platform, or local setup?

Work top to bottom. The first row that matches is the layer to check next; it is not proof of the cause unless the official source says so.

What you see Likely layer First move
All futures data frozen everywhere, news reporting a CME halt Exchange (CME) Nothing to fix on your end. Flatten risk if you can, then wait for CME to reopen. Affects all rails.
Rithmic support/news or your firm says Rithmic connectivity is degraded Rithmic rail Treat it as a likely rail issue. Do not reinstall first; follow the official notice or support instruction.
Your firm posted a reboot/maintenance or a mass credential reset Prop firm Follow the firm’s notice. Post-reboot errors often need updated login details or a newer R | Trader Pro bridge.
Rithmic works for others, but your login, account, or entitlement fails Broker / FCM / funding evaluator Check the provider that issued the credentials before changing chart settings. Rithmic points account-login and credential questions back to the broker or prop firm first.
Your front-end platform shows a Rithmic login, data, gateway, or route error Platform/front end Check that platform’s Rithmic help page before changing firm credentials.
Only you are affected: lag, “connection failed”, one dead symbol, missing Level 2 Your setup Run the local checklist below. Check agreements, account activation, server/gateway, plugin mode, and data entitlement first.

During an outage: quick checklist

  • Protect risk first. If you can still reach the exchange another way, reduce exposure. If nothing routes, you cannot manage the position until service returns — that is a known futures risk.
  • Confirm the layer with the “Check now” box before you touch settings. Reinstalling won’t fix a CME halt.
  • Know your firm’s technical-issue policy. Firms handle confirmed platform outages differently (support tickets, trade reviews, drawdown handling). Read your own firm’s rules — don’t assume. BestProps does not publish a blanket “firms will X” rule because they don’t all do the same thing.
  • Local fixes (only when Rithmic and CME are fine): verify username, password, System/server, and gateway; accept Rithmic market-data agreements; confirm the account is fully activated; close duplicate direct sessions or use R | Trader plugin mode when your front end requires it; check data entitlement if only depth/Level 2 is missing. (Sources: Quantower, Rithmic support, R | Trader Pro.)

What to send support if you open a ticket

Copy the items you can verify. Short, exact tickets usually beat long outage theories.

  • Firm/account: firm name, program or account type, and account ID only if that support desk asks for it.
  • Platform/front end: R | Trader Pro, NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart, ATAS, or other front end.
  • Rithmic session: system/server selected, gateway if shown, and whether this is direct login or plugin mode.
  • Time: exact timestamp, time zone, market, symbol, and whether the issue is still happening.
  • Proof: screenshot or short screen recording showing the error and connection panel.
  • Order detail: order ID, fill ID, or position ID if the issue involves a specific order.
  • Error text: paste the exact message, not a paraphrase.
  • Status links checked: Rithmic support/news, CME GCC alerts, firm status/support, broker/FCM or funding evaluator support, and platform help page.
  • Steps already tried: restart, agreements accepted, server/gateway checked, account activated, duplicate sessions closed.
  • Logs: platform log file or diagnostics if the support desk asks for it.

Do not send: passwords, full payment details, government ID images, seed phrases, or private documents unless you are inside the official firm/platform support portal and the item is specifically required.

Who runs on Rithmic (so you know if this page is yours)

Platforms that connect over Rithmic: NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart (needs its own paid subscription), MotiveWave, ATAS, plus Rithmic’s own R | Trader and R | Trader Pro. If you trade a Rithmic account, an outage here can hit any of these.

Which prop firms? See the official-source directory below for the firms whose own pages confirm Rithmic, and which ones currently point to a different rail. We rank firm impact from each firm’s own documentation, not third-party lists.

If Rithmic has an issue, which firms could it hit?

How to read this. A Confirmed row means that firm’s own official page explicitly mentions Rithmic — it does not mean every account or plan at that firm uses Rithmic. A Source gap row means the firm’s current official pages point to a different rail (or didn’t mention Rithmic) when last checked, so don’t assume Rithmic impact there. Firms add and drop rails often, so confirm on your own firm’s current platform page. Official sources checked July 4, 2026.

Use these checked examples after you check the live links above. Compare your symptoms, look for the layer that failed, check whether the source says the issue was resolved, and avoid assuming every problem is firm-wide or Rithmic-wide.

What Rithmic actually is

Rithmic describes itself as “trading infrastructure, market data, and connectivity for futures and options” (rithmic.com). It is a rail, not a broker or a prop firm: it carries prices from the exchange to your platform and your orders back to the exchange, over one low-latency gateway. You pick the gateway nearest you to shorten the round trip. Its exchange coverage anchor is CME Group in full — CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX.

Two product names cause confusion. R | Trader Pro is Rithmic’s own desktop platform (DOM, one-click entry, charts, Excel link) — usually bundled free with your credentials. R | API is the developer layer that NinjaTrader, Quantower, copiers and bots are built on; R | API+ adds server-side trailing stops, OCOs and brackets. Most traders use Rithmic through the second without ever seeing it. (Explainer: Thor Trade Copier.)

How BestProps tracks this

Not a live monitor. BestProps does not track Rithmic’s uptime in real time. For the current state, always open the official sources in the “Check now” box below. This page is a reference guide plus a record of past incidents — not a status feed, and not trading or IT advice.

Last reviewed: July 5, 2026 · Next review: by October 5, 2026 (incident entries rechecked within ~30 days of any new event; firm/platform lists rechecked ~quarterly). Firm-impact rows were last checked July 4, 2026; the core Rithmic/CME/platform troubleshooting sources were rechecked July 5, 2026.

BestProps checks public, official sources — Rithmic support/news, CME Global Command Center alerts, prop-firm support pages, and platform help docs — and summarizes notable events with links and checked dates. We label the layer (exchange, rail, broker/FCM, firm, platform, or local) because many “Rithmic is down” moments are actually something around Rithmic. Reference details last checked July 5, 2026; next review by October 5, 2026. This is informational only — verify live conditions at the source before making account, trading, or payout decisions.
