Apex rules by account type. Use this page to compare the rules that can fail, pause, or restrict an Apex account across EOD, intraday trailing, and legacy paths.
Apex runs three separate rulebooks: EOD drawdown accounts, intraday trailing drawdown accounts, and legacy accounts. Drawdown timing, qualifying days, consistency rules, payout thresholds, and closure rules all depend on which one you hold — pick your account type above before applying any rule below.
RuleWatch Snapshot
| Rule area | What Apex’s official pages say | Trader takeaway + evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Account categories | Apex separates EOD drawdown accounts, intraday trailing drawdown accounts, EOD Performance Accounts, EOD Evaluations, intraday evaluations, legacy evaluations, and payouts. | Confirm the account category first; do not apply a legacy or intraday rule to an EOD account without checking the matching Apex page.Source evidence |
| EOD drawdown | The EOD threshold is calculated once per trading day at 4:59:59 PM ET, trails the highest achieved EOD balance, never moves downward, and is enforced in real time after it becomes active. | EOD does not mean “safe intraday”; once the threshold is active, touching it can fail an evaluation or close a Performance Account.Source evidence |
| Intraday trailing drawdown | The intraday threshold updates continuously from peak balance, including realized and unrealized gains. If the balance touches or falls below the threshold, positions liquidate and the account fails or closes. | Open-trade profit can move the threshold. Manage unrealized PnL because it affects the trailing level.Source evidence |
| EOD payout requirements | EOD Performance Accounts require 5 qualifying trading days, a $500 minimum payout request, 50% consistency, and a maximum of 6 payouts per Performance Account. Apex states approved payouts use a 100% payout split. | Check the account-size row before requesting; the minimum daily-profit requirement varies by account size.Source evidence |
| Intraday payout requirements | Intraday Performance Accounts also require 5 qualifying trading days, a $500 minimum payout request, 50% consistency, and a maximum of 6 payouts per Performance Account. Apex states approved payouts use a 100% payout split. | The payout structure looks similar to EOD, but the qualifying-day profit values differ by account size.Source evidence |
| Conduct & closure rules | Prohibited activity (including hedging violations or rule circumvention) means immediate account closure; PAs also close for inactivity or after the 6th payout. | Rule breaches are not the only way to lose a PA — check the closure triggers below before going quiet for a month.Source evidence |
| Legacy payout rules | Legacy PA payout parameters include 100% of the first $25,000 paid per account, 90% after that, at least 5 of 8 days with $50 or more profit, a 30% consistency/windfall rule, and a safety net for the first three payouts. | Legacy payout rules are not the same as the current EOD and intraday Performance Account pages.Source evidence |
Rows to inspect first
These are the Apex rows most likely to change the next action. They are scan targets from the checked official sources, not account advice.
EOD does not mean intraday-safe
The EOD threshold is calculated once per trading day, but once active it is enforced in real time.
Intraday trailing follows open profit
The intraday threshold tracks peak balance, including unrealized gains, so open-trade profit can move the line before you bank it.
Payout math changes by path
EOD and intraday PAs share the 5 qualifying days, $500 minimum request, 50% consistency, and 6-payout cap, but daily-profit minimums differ by account size and path.
Closure is broader than drawdown
Prohibited activity, inactivity, and the 6th approved payout can close a PA even when the drawdown row is not the active issue.
Apex Payout Eligibility Checker
Enter your current EOD or intraday Performance Account numbers and see which of Apex’s published payout requirements you meet — and exactly how far you are from the ones you don’t. Values come from the Apex payout tables above, checked July 1, 2026. Apex’s dashboard makes the real call; this is a planning aid, not an approval or financial advice. Legacy accounts use different rules and are not covered by this checker.

EOD Accounts
Apex’s EOD Evaluation page describes the End-of-Day Evaluation as a 30-day assessment using an EOD drawdown model. The official page says there is no intraday trailing drawdown, the EOD drawdown is calculated once per day at market close, and the established threshold is enforced during the next trading session.
| EOD topic | Official-source summary + evidence |
|---|---|
| Evaluation pass rule | Apex says traders must not reach the EOD drawdown level. The page also says there is no minimum number of trading days required and that the matching EOD Performance Account must be activated within 7 calendar days after passing.Source evidence |
| Drawdown calculation | The EOD threshold is recalculated once per trading day at 4:59:59 PM ET based on the account’s closing balance. It trails the highest achieved EOD balance and does not move downward.Source evidence |
| Drawdown stop level | Apex says the EOD threshold stops increasing once it reaches starting balance plus $100. Its 50K EOD PA example gives a $50,100 stop level.Source evidence |
| Performance Account status | Apex describes the EOD Performance Account as a simulated funded account awarded after passing the EOD Evaluation, issued in the same size as the passed Evaluation, and following the same EOD drawdown structure.Source evidence |
| Active PA cap | Apex says a trader may hold up to 20 active PAs at the same time across all PA account types combined.Source evidence |
EOD Payout Requirements
| EOD account size | Minimum qualifying days | Minimum daily profit per qualifying day | Minimum balance to request | Maximum payouts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | 5 | $100 | $26,600 | 6 |
| 50K | 5 | $250 | $52,600 | 6 |
| 100K | 5 | $300 | $103,600 | 6 |
| 150K | 5 | $350 | $154,600 | 6 |
Intraday Trailing Drawdown Accounts
Apex’s intraday pages use a different drawdown model. The intraday trailing threshold follows peak balance during the trading session and includes unrealized profit. The threshold does not move downward after a new peak is established.
| Intraday topic | Official-source summary + evidence |
|---|---|
| Drawdown enforcement | If the account balance touches or falls below the intraday trailing threshold at any time, Apex says all open positions are automatically liquidated. Evaluations fail and Performance Accounts close.Source evidence |
| Peak-balance tracking | The intraday threshold updates continuously during the session and follows peak balance, including realized and unrealized gains.Source evidence |
| Stop level | For Performance Accounts, Apex says trailing stops once the intraday threshold reaches starting balance plus $100. Its 50K example gives a $50,100 stop level.Source evidence |
| Performance Account status | Apex describes the intraday PA as a simulated funded account awarded after passing the Intraday Evaluation and issued in the same size as the evaluation account.Source evidence |
| Inactivity closure rule | Apex’s intraday PA page says the account closes if it does not record at least two $50 net-profit days within 30 consecutive calendar days. See Conduct & Closure Rules below for the full dormancy timeline.Source evidence |
Intraday Payout Requirements
| Intraday account size | Minimum qualifying days | Minimum daily profit per qualifying day | Minimum balance to request | Maximum payouts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | 5 | $100 | $26,600 | 6 |
| 50K | 5 | $200 | $52,600 | 6 |

| 150K | 5 | $300 | $154,600 | 6 |
Conduct & Closure Rules
Breaching drawdown is not the only way to lose an Apex PA. These are the closure triggers on Apex’s official pages, plus the conduct rules that end accounts immediately.
The 50% consistency rule, in short: no single profitable day may account for 50% or more of your total profit since your last approved payout. If one day crosses that line, the payout request option simply does not appear — the account stays active and you keep trading until more profitable days pull the share below 50%. Apex applies it per payout window, so the counter effectively resets after each approved payout (official mechanics, checked July 1, 2026).
| Closure trigger | What Apex’s official pages say | Applies to + evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Drawdown breach | Balance (including unrealized PnL) touching or falling below the drawdown threshold liquidates all positions and permanently closes the PA. | EOD and intraday PAsSource evidenceEOD PA / Intraday PA (checked Jul 1, 2026) |
| Prohibited activity | Engaging in prohibited activities, including hedging violations or any form of rule circumvention, results in immediate account closure; violators forfeit accounts and associated balances. | All account typesSource evidenceProhibited Activities (checked Jul 2, 2026) |
| Inactivity | PAs need at least 2 trading days with $50+ net profit in every rolling 30-day period. After 15 days of inactivity the account goes dormant (notices on days 15 and 20); after 30 days it is closed. Closure is permanent, accumulated rewards and payout eligibility are forfeited, and breakeven days do not count. | EOD and intraday PAs (legacy has its own policy)Source evidenceInactivity Policy on PAs (checked Jul 2, 2026) |
| 6th payout | Each PA is capped at 6 payouts; after the 6th, the PA closes by design. Another PA requires qualifying through another evaluation. | EOD and intraday PAsSource evidenceEOD Payouts / Intraday Payouts (checked Jul 1, 2026) |

What Apex Prohibits
Summary of Apex’s official prohibited-activities list (full official list, checked July 2, 2026). Violations mean immediate closure and forfeiture of the account and balances:
- Account integrity: no account or credential sharing, no unauthorized users, no sharing MAC addresses, computers, IPs, or credit cards, no trade copying with other traders, and no creating multiple user accounts (including household workarounds). Payment methods and payout bank accounts must be in your own name.
- Honesty with Apex: no bad-faith chargebacks, no false or misleading documents, no VPNs/proxies/anonymizers used to hide identity or location or dodge rules, and no manipulating Apex systems or impersonating staff.
- Risk-management conduct: every trade needs a pending or mental stop loss and a defined risk plan; no tiny-target/huge-stop strategies; no using the account’s full drawdown threshold as your stop loss; no strategies Apex deems unsustainable or below the standard you would use with your own money at a registered broker.
- Sim-environment abuse: no exploiting the simulated environment — including HFT, chasing erroneous fills, exceeding max contracts, or non-directional bracket trading left open on both sides of the market.
- Trading-style limits: no automation or algorithms, no hedging of any kind (directional trading only, including correlated instruments), no both-sides news gambling (normal news trading is allowed), no stockpiling discounted evaluations to blow up for windfalls, and all open positions must be closed before market close.
Legacy Accounts
Apex still maintains separate legacy-account guidance. Legacy payout rules should not be blended into the current EOD or intraday payout summaries; legacy accounts also follow their own inactivity policy. Use the legacy Apex page linked below when reviewing a legacy account.
| Legacy payout area | Official-source summary + evidence |
|---|---|
| Payout split | Apex says traders are entitled to 100% of the first $25,000 per account they are paid out, and 90% of profit after that.Source evidence |
| Profit-day requirement | The legacy page says at least 5 of 8 days must show a profit of $50 or more.Source evidence |
| 30% consistency / windfall | Apex describes a 30% rule where no single trading day may account for more than 30% of total profit balance at payout request. The page says it applies until the sixth payout or until transfer to a Live Prop Trading Account.Source evidence |
| Safety net | The page says the first three payouts use a safety net calculated as the account’s drawdown limit plus $100. The safety net requirement no longer applies as of the fourth payout.Source evidence |
