Why prop firms restrict Zimbabwe traders

The United States ended its Zimbabwe-specific sanctions program in March 2024 and moved designated people and entities to targeted Global Magnitsky measures. A prop firm’s country block should not be presented as proof that every Zimbabwe resident is sanctioned. Providers may instead apply a broader risk rule based on broker, clearing, market-data, identity, payment, or payout coverage.

BestProps requires a complete firm-level restriction. E8 Markets and Topstep are not counted because Zimbabwe traders retain access to another program or funding path described by those firms, even though some services are limited.

Zimbabwe currency, sanctions, and exchange trading

OFAC terminated the Zimbabwe sanctions regulations in 2024. Targeted Global Magnitsky designations can still affect named people, entities, and property interests, but that is different from a blanket prohibition on every Zimbabwe resident. A firm’s own country policy remains the evidence for inclusion on this page.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s 2026 foreign-exchange directive continues a willing-buyer, willing-seller interbank market and publication of a daily reference rate. It also describes a gradual transition toward wider use of ZiG for domestic settlement. A dollar-priced prop fee can therefore involve exchange-rate, authorized-dealer, and payment-routing questions beyond the advertised price.

The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange provides a regulated local route for securities and publishes current trading hours, licensed stockbrokers, and market rules. Trading an exchange-listed security through a broker is not the same transaction as purchasing access to a simulated overseas prop evaluation.

Most prop accounts display simulated futures, forex, CFD, or crypto positions. The balance on screen is not a customer brokerage account, and any reward remains conditional on the firm’s contract, risk rules, identity verification, and payout method.

Before paying from Zimbabwe, confirm citizenship and residence eligibility, the identity documents required, the settlement currency charged, and the payout provider available to Zimbabwe residents. Keep the policy, agreement, receipt, and reward records, and seek current local tax and foreign-exchange advice.

What Zimbabwe traders should check before checkout

  • Confirm that both citizenship and residence are eligible.
  • Check the evaluation, simulated funded, live-funded, and payout rules separately.
  • Use your real address and identity documents. A VPN does not change KYC eligibility.
  • Confirm the payout provider supports your country and expected currency.
  • Save a dated copy of the policy and checkout terms before paying.
  • Confirm local foreign-exchange, tax, securities, and crypto rules with a qualified professional.

Zimbabwe prop firm restrictions FAQ

How many prop firms restrict traders from Zimbabwe?

BestProps verified 17 current firms with a complete restriction affecting at least one market covered on this page.

Does a restricted country always block the evaluation purchase?

Most policies on this page block new accounts or platform access. Some firms also consider citizenship, travel location, payout access, or the live-account stage, so the official policy remains the final source.

Are partial country limits included in the main list?

No. A firm that still allows an evaluation, simulated funded account, or payouts is not counted as completely restricted merely because its live-account path or one platform is unavailable.

Can a VPN make a restricted trader eligible?

No. Firms verify identity, residence, payment details, and login patterns. Concealing location can lead to account closure, payout denial, or loss of fees.

Are prop firm payouts treated like local brokerage gains?

Not necessarily. Evaluation payouts may be contractual or business income rather than gains from securities held in a brokerage account. Ask a local tax professional and keep complete records.

When did BestProps check these country policies?

The official sources on this page were checked on August 8, 2026. Recheck them immediately before purchase because firms and service providers can change eligibility lists.
