Why prop firms restrict DRC traders
The United States maintains a Democratic Republic of the Congo sanctions program focused on specified people and entities connected with conflict, violence, and other designated conduct. It is not a simple ban on every resident, but prop firms and their providers may apply a broader country restriction rather than screen every bank, owner, counterparty, and transaction path.
Broker, clearing-firm, market-data, identity-verification, card, and payout coverage can each create a separate geographic limit. BestProps therefore includes a company only when the firm’s own current policy names the DRC and the restriction covers every program represented by that BestProps profile.
DRC sanctions, currency, and digital-payment context
The U.S. Treasury’s DRC-related sanctions program contains targeted designations, legal authorities, general licenses, and transaction rules. The existence of that program does not mean that every Congolese resident is a blocked person. It does explain why some international financial companies use enhanced screening or a country-wide service rule when they cannot manage the distinction at checkout and payout.
The Banque Centrale du Congo publishes the official exchange-rate framework and supervises banks, financial companies, and electronic-money institutions. A prop fee displayed in U.S. dollars can therefore involve conversion into Congolese francs, card or bank limits, and merchant acceptance that are separate from whether the trading firm itself accepts the customer.
The central bank has also identified regulation of digital assets and virtual currencies as a financial-sector reform priority, in part to address fraudulent structures that use cryptoassets to disguise Ponzi schemes. A crypto-denominated prop fee or reward should not be treated as locally approved merely because a wallet transfer is technically possible.
A prop account generally records simulated trades. Passing an evaluation does not give the trader ownership of the futures contract, currency, share, or cryptoasset shown on the platform. The possible reward remains a contractual payment subject to the firm’s rules, identity checks, screening, and available payout route.
Before paying from the DRC, confirm eligibility for both citizenship and residence, the exact identity documents accepted, and the payout provider that will be used. Keep the dated policy, agreement, receipt, and reward records, and ask a qualified Congolese adviser about tax, foreign-exchange, and digital-asset treatment.

What DRC traders should check before checkout
- Confirm that both citizenship and residence are eligible.
- Check the evaluation, simulated funded, live-funded, and payout rules separately.
- Use your real address and identity documents. A VPN does not change KYC eligibility.
- Confirm the payout provider supports your country and expected currency.
- Save a dated copy of the policy and checkout terms before paying.
- Confirm local foreign-exchange, tax, securities, and crypto rules with a qualified professional.
DRC prop firm restrictions FAQ
How many prop firms restrict traders from the DRC?
BestProps verified 19 current firms with a complete restriction affecting at least one market covered on this page.
Does a restricted country always block the evaluation purchase?
Most policies on this page block new accounts or platform access. Some firms also consider citizenship, travel location, payout access, or the live-account stage, so the official policy remains the final source.
Are partial country limits included in the main list?
No. A firm that still allows an evaluation, simulated funded account, or payouts is not counted as completely restricted merely because its live-account path or one platform is unavailable.
Can a VPN make a restricted trader eligible?
No. Firms verify identity, residence, payment details, and login patterns. Concealing location can lead to account closure, payout denial, or loss of fees.
Are prop firm payouts treated like local brokerage gains?
Not necessarily. Evaluation payouts may be contractual or business income rather than gains from securities held in a brokerage account. Ask a local tax professional and keep complete records.
When did BestProps check these country policies?
The official sources on this page were checked on August 8, 2026. Recheck them immediately before purchase because firms and service providers can change eligibility lists.
