Most Trusted Prop Firms, Ranked on Dated Evidence

We checked 18 prop firms on dated evidence: registry, admitted incidents, refusal clauses, the live move and Trustpilot. FTMO ranks first; each pick has a watch-out.

Document-based research and editorial review. Last reviewed October 5, 2026 31 min read

Key takeaways

Trust is a dated ledger, not a star rating. We checked 18 prop firms on what can be verified today: registry, admitted incidents, refusal clauses used, the live move and Trustpilot’s state. Most trusted: FTMO, then 12 more with a named watch-out; a live call-up is one of those watch-outs at eight firms, a warning to weigh. Three firms stay cautionary for a different finding: Alpha Futures (open payout queue), ThinkCapital (refused pending payouts on a country exit) and The5ers (a documentation conflict).

Most trusted prop firms checked on evidence: a ledger with ticked rows and question marks, a magnifying glass and a crossed-out star rating beside a Trusted? sticker

Freshness: Every registry, quote and Trustpilot count was checked on September 30, 2026. Re-check before you buy.

Quick picks among the most trusted prop firms

  • Most trusted overall: FTMO, 4.8/5 on 53,393 reviews.
  • Most trusted with futures: Tradeify, then Take Profit Trader and Apex Trader Funding.
  • Most trusted with a visible rating: FTMO, then Tradeify (4.4/5).
  • For US traders: FTMO through FTMO US, or E8 Markets on TradeLocker.
  • Read first: the live call-up, a warning to weigh, not a grade.

What a prop firm is, and why a legit prop firm is not regulated

A prop firm sells a paid evaluation; pass it and you trade a funded account, simulated at most firms here, for a profit share. Legit means a named company matching a public registry, readable account-ending rules and no firm-confirmed refusal of money owed without a named rule. Legit is not regulated. FTMO’s terms say: “We are not regulated by the Czech National Bank or a similar authority,” and no firm here holds a prop-program licence.

How we ranked the most trusted prop firms

Five-step process behind our most trusted prop firms ranking, built from each firm’s own pages and dated checks
The five checks behind every ranking in the Prop Trader’s Guide.

Trusted, with a watch-out

Not buyable today
  1. Evidence, dated September 30, 2026: registry lookups, firm-acknowledged incidents, refusal clauses, the live article, Trustpilot.
  2. Claims: payout totals, denial counts and “since 20XX” are the firm’s words, not findings.
  3. Serious failure (cautionary): a refusal of money owed without a named rule, confirmed by the firm or 5+ dated reviews; an admitted, unresolved payout queue; firm pages that disagree on the max-loss floor. A discretionary live call-up is a watch-out, not a reason to leave the ranked list; traders weigh it themselves.
  4. Watch-out (still ranked): enforcing a published banned practice, a limit emailed after purchase, resolved delays, or a discretionary live call-up. Every ranked firm has one.
  5. Order: a visible Trustpilot rating before a hidden one, then the earliest published registry date, or the nearest published figure.

Why a trusted prop firm is a dated ledger, not a star rating

Most trusted prop firms diagram: a crossed-out star rating next to a dated ledger of registry match, operating since, incidents, refusal clauses used, live move and Trustpilot state
Six rows anyone can check, each with a source and a date, instead of one star score.

Red flags, by ledger column:

  • Registry match: no named company, or none on a register.
  • Operating since: the company is younger than the “since” claim.
  • Incidents: an admitted payout pause or queue with no end.
  • Refusal clauses used: the firm confirms withholding money without a named rule.
  • Live move: the firm can close your account and cut the balance.
  • Trustpilot state: hidden, or unlike the firm’s own badge.

Ranked most trusted prop firms, each with a named watch-out

FTMO is the most trusted prop firm on our ledger, with an emailed risk cap to watch

Verdict: First: a registry match, the highest visible rating here and no published move to live.

Video: “FTMO 1-Step Challenge Explained: All 4 Rules You Must Know,” FTMO official YouTube channel, 2026-03-22. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: FTMO’s own rules overview; no official payout walkthrough was found.

You contract with FTMO Evaluation Global s.r.o., in the Czech ARES register since June 2, 2020; the group’s first company dates from June 24, 2014, consistent with its “since 2015” claim. In 12 months it ended sister program OANDA Prop Trader (March 31, 2026) and added a 0.7% currency-conversion adjustment to existing accounts (July 28, 2026). It claims “over $650 million in rewards.” FTMO’s terms are signed with two Czech entities: FTMO Evaluation Global s.r.o. takes your Challenge fee, while a second company, FTMO Trading Global s.r.o. (ARES active since August 16, 2020), offers the FTMO Account contract and pays the reward; the group’s first company, FTMO s.r.o., registered June 24, 2014. Its FAQ says the entry fee “may be refunded with the first Reward withdrawal,” while Clause 3.12 of the Challenge Terms says once paid you are “not entitled to a refund … under any circumstances”; FTMO frames the first case as typical, not guaranteed. Clause 13.2.3 also lets FTMO end a Challenge after 30 days of no trading, or a loss held above 8 to 10% for more than 30 days.

Trader sentiment: 4.8/5 on 53,393 reviews on Trustpilot, 3% one-star; 8 of about 15 one-star reviews describe closures, the risk cap or unpaid profit.

  • Choose it when: You trade forex or CFDs and want the longest registry trail and a static 10% floor on the 2-Step.
  • Watch out for: T&C 7.6.6 lets FTMO cap risk per trade idea at a level it sets after you pass (unpublished); reviews from July to September 2026 describe it at payout.
  • Assets, fees and US access: Forex, index, commodity and crypto CFDs. US residents buy through FTMO US (ftmo.oanda.com). Prices: cheapest prop firms.
  • BestProps pages: FTMO profile, FTMO status, FTMO payouts.

Tradeify is a trusted prop firm with a live call-up to weigh before its Elite move

Verdict: Second: a Florida registry match and a visible rating.

First watch-out, the live call-up: Tradeify’s Elite article says “Once selected, you MUST transition”; sim accounts close, Elite Live starts at $0, and post-payout profit is not carried over. Entity: Tradeify Holdings, Corp., Florida (Sunbiz P25000043724, effective October 30, 2020; match). Eight September 2026 reviews describe KYC denials called “final,” against a homepage “0% Payout Denials.” Two more Tradeify-linked entities sit outside the funded-trader contract: Tradeify Brokerage LLC, doing business as Slay Markets, is a Florida introducing broker for live brokerage accounts (filed December 2025, same managers as the parent), and Tradeify Funding LLC is a separate Florida company on the Trustpilot profile page itself. Neither replaces the Funded Trader Agreement as the contract you sign. Tradeify advertises “Request a payout, get paid in minutes,” but the Funded Trader Agreement (4.4) gives Tradeify until the end of the next payout cycle to approve, review or deny a request, and says payment is “typically issued within twenty-four to forty-eight (24-48) hours,” up to 72. Select’s per-payout caps also rose on September 1, 2026 (the 50K Daily cap from $1,000 to $1,250, Flex from $3,000 to $2,500).

Trustpilot: 4.4/5 on 4,886 reviews (source). BestProps pages: Tradeify profile.

Take Profit Trader is a trusted prop firm with its PRO+ call-up to weigh

Verdict: Third: the earliest Florida registry date among the futures firms here.

First watch-out, the live call-up: the PRO+ move “is made solely at the discretion of Take Profit Trader”; PRO is placed on hold, $5,000 of profit is frozen and PRO+ starts at $0. Entity: TakeProfitTrader LLC, Florida, registered March 29, 2021 (match). PRO+ setup delays from July 2026 remain unresolved. Take Profit Trader LLC is managed on its Florida filing by Oslo Six Management Services Corporation, a name not published on the firm’s own site. In 2026 the firm added three discretionary policies that sit above the PRO+ call-up: the Universal Trading Policies and Independent Trade Execution Policy (March 6), which can forfeit profit for patterns it judges unsustainable, and a Sustainable Trading Policy (June 3) letting it “step in at its sole discretion, with or without prior notice.” Its site promises a wallet you can withdraw “instantly, whenever you want,” which is the PRO balance only; PRO+’s frozen $5,000 is a separate pool with its own release rule.

Trustpilot: 4.4/5 on 10,733 reviews (source). BestProps pages: Take Profit Trader profile, status.

Apex Trader Funding is a trusted prop firm for futures, with a live call-up to weigh

Verdict: Fourth: a Texas registry match and a visible rating.

First watch-out, the live call-up: Apex “may move a trader into live trading at any time,” closing all sim accounts; declining forfeits tracked Bonus Vault balances for a flat “$3,000 total” payment. Entity: Apex Trader Funding Inc, Texas, formed July 27, 2021 (match). The homepage says “No denied payouts,” while its Risk Disclosure calls a payout decision “final.” Apex also runs an invite-only Apex Live Prop Trading Program, a separate live department its own help centre confirms moves traders out of simulated accounts; Reddit threads from April and July 2026 describe the same mechanism from the trader side. The homepage’s “No Gray Area… No Hidden Rules” sits against a Prohibited Activities page that bans “any trading, risk management, or implementation that fails to demonstrate consistent growth and sustainability,” a standard broad enough to leave the actual boundary to Apex’s review, and against a news post describing stepped-up compliance audits. Apex also says “No payout reviews,” while its own help article gives itself two business days to review every payout request.

Trustpilot: 4.2/5 on 21,157 reviews (source). BestProps pages: Apex profile, status.

FXIFY is a trusted prop firm for non-US traders, with latency-arbitrage exits to watch

Verdict: Fifth: a UK registry match and a visible rating; US residents are excluded.

Video: “Here’s 3 THINGS Traders Get Wrong, Fix Them to Stay Funded,” FXIFY official YouTube channel, 2026-02-10. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: The channel has no rules or payout video; this is its general trading explainer.

You contract with FXIFY Solutions Limited, Companies House 14451720, incorporated October 31, 2022; FXIFY dates its launch to 2023. In September 2026 it acknowledged individual payout and refund delays; in one Rise KYC case it refunded the fee but not the payout. Its own pages disagree on its total: “$40M+ Paid to Traders” (homepage) and “$30M+” (payouts page). FXIFY Solutions Limited sits inside a wider FXPIG group; its newsroom calls the firm “backed by FXPIG,” and the group runs a Mauritius broker, Prime Intermarket Group Eurasia Ltd, licensed May 29, 2025. FXIFY’s UK parent, Companies House shows, is Briarwood Ventures Limited (Hong Kong), holding over 75% of the shares. Its Fast Payouts page advertises “No minimum trading days” and “no limits on the withdrawal amount,” but the Two Phase Pro card caps the first two withdrawals at 5% of the initial balance, with anything above that removed, not paid. Instant Funding Lite, a new entry-level evaluation-free product, launched February 6, 2026.

Trader sentiment: 4.3/5 on 6,333 reviews on Trustpilot, 12% one-star, 96% of reviews answered; 12 reviews mention a denial.

  • Choose it when: You live outside the US and want a static 10% floor on Two Phase Classic.
  • Watch out for: 11 dated reviews from January to September 2026 describe terminations after passing for latency arbitrage; FXIFY decides what counts (GTC 5.4.3) and will not disclose its detection methods.
  • Assets, fees and US access: Forex, index, commodity and crypto CFDs; Instant Funding Lite launched February 6, 2026. The footer excludes US residents. Prices: cheapest prop firms.
  • BestProps pages: FXIFY profile, FXIFY rules, FXIFY status.

FundedNext Futures is a trusted prop firm with a call-up to weigh; its CFD program is unaffected

Verdict: Sixth: placed by its Comoros sim-operator licence, the nearest published figure.

First watch-out, the live call-up: FundedNext Futures’ Road To Live article calls the move “mandatory and cannot be declined”; 80% of sim profit converts into cash, live deposit and a reserve. Contracting party GrowthNext F.Z.E. (Ajman) could not be searched; its Comoros sim-operator licence was issued November 7, 2023 (status reads Active). FundedNext’s CFD program, sharing this Trustpilot profile, showed no comparable issue. The CFD and futures programs share a contracting chain: GrowthNext F.Z.E. (Ajman) takes your payment and holds the trademark, FundedNext Ltd (Mwali, Comoros, licence T2023403, status Active) runs the simulated trading environment named on both products’ terms, and a Cyprus company, Incenteco Trading LTD, processes payments as GrowthNext’s subsidiary. On the futures side, Bolt accounts were withdrawn for new purchases and resets from July 10, 2026, and futures buyers now enter a review pool of up to 15 live-eligible accounts rather than one straight move. FundedNext’s own claim of “99.99% processed within 24 hours, no delays” sits against Clause 12.4 of its Terms of Service, which lets compliance checks, payment-processor requirements and banking holidays extend that.

Trustpilot: 4.5/5 on 80,423 reviews (source). BestProps pages: FundedNext profile, rules.

FundingPips is a trusted prop firm with its Prime call-up to weigh

Verdict: Seventh: an entity-licence date stands in for an unpublished incorporation date.

First watch-out, the live call-up: a FundingPips Prime invitation “is deemed automatically accepted by you, is mandatory, and you waive any right to refuse”; unpaid Master profit “is forfeited,” against a homepage “Every reward paid. Never denied.” Entity: FundingPips Corp, Comoros; its Mwali licence was issued January 23, 2024, status reads Active; the entity’s incorporation date was not found. FundingPips promotes a sister broker it calls Tradin on its own pages; the Mauritius financial-services register lists an entity by that name licensed April 7, 2025, alongside a separate, same-named Fundingpips Ltd holding its own Mauritius dealer licence, neither named as a party in the FundingPips terms. The firm’s homepage claims “69,349 reviews 4.8 rated,” while the Trustpilot page it links shows 69,349 reviews at 4.5. A Profit Concentration Policy added June 27, 2026 can trigger a review when a single trade idea supplies more than 60% of an Evaluation account’s target, on top of the mandatory Prime call-up.

Trustpilot: 4.5/5 on 69,349 reviews (source). BestProps pages: FundingPips profile, status.

Topstep is a trusted prop firm with an NFA-registered affiliate, and a call-up to weigh

Verdict: Eighth: placed by its affiliate’s NFA registration (September 8, 2025).

First watch-out, the live call-up: Topstep’s help says you cannot decline the move to Live; the live start is 20% of the XFA balance, capped, “with any excess forfeited.” The firm discloses 0.71% of XFA traders were called up. Topstep Brokerage LLC is on NFA BASIC as an introducing broker (NFA ID 0567079); that covers the brokerage, not funded accounts. No formation date is published for Topstep LLC itself. Three more Topstep-linked entities sit behind the brand you buy from: TopstepTrader, LLC runs the Trading Combine and XFA, a second Illinois company, TopstepFunded LLC, is the Live Funded Account counterparty, and the TopstepX platform belongs to ProjectX Trading LLC, not Topstep itself. Topstep’s own pages disagree on how much it has paid out: “$1.4B+ Paid out to prop firm traders” on the homepage against “$1.5B+ Paid out to traders” on the topstep-prop page, and its “99.26% Payout approval” figure sits beside Terms of Use Section 27, which lets Topstep remove simulated profits and forfeit every other account you hold at its sole determination. Traders who joined the dashboard before January 12, 2026 keep a 100% split on their first live payout; everyone after that starts at 90/10.

Trustpilot: 3.6/5 on 14,875 reviews (
