We checked 18 prop firms for one thing the page-one roundups skip: a real API your own code can use on the prop account, from the evaluation through the funded account to the first payout, on the firm’s own pages. Only four qualify. E8 Markets issues its own API keys on E8 Pro perpetual futures accounts ($248, no API fee, $49.60 per $1,000 of loss room), though its terms still forbid “bots, scripts … or AI agents.” Topstep sells the TopstepX API at $29 a month ($62.00 on the No Activation Fee 50K Combine), and it switches off at the Live call-up. HyroTrader lets your own crypto bot trade through a Bybit or BloFin demo API ($75.80, activation fee not published). Bulenox allows a third-party Rithmic API for $100 a month ($108.00). Six more (DayTraders.com, Lucid Trading, FTMO, MyFundedFutures, FundedNext Futures, Darwinex Zero) allow bots inside a platform but publish no API. Tradeify opens the Tradovate API only on live accounts, TradeDay does not expose it, and Apex, Take Profit Trader and Alpha Futures ban automation. Our figure is (evaluation + activation + one month of API fee) ÷ max-loss floor × 1,000 at 50K.
