ProjectX Trading, LLC ended third-party licensing of its platform to prop firms in November 2025, with the wind-down completed February 28, 2026. Today, Topstep is the only prop firm that is both purchasable and genuinely running the ProjectX engine, because TopstepX IS the ProjectX-built platform, developed and owned by ProjectX Trading LLC under its own brand name. Every other firm once linked to ProjectX has moved to Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, or TradingView, and we checked each firm’s own current pages to confirm exactly where. Topstep’s $50K Trading Combine on the No Activation Fee path runs $95 a month with no separate activation fee and works out to $47.50 per $1,000 of loss room.

Quick answer, which prop firms use ProjectX today

  • One firm uses ProjectX today: Topstep. TopstepX is the ProjectX-built platform itself, developed and owned by ProjectX Trading LLC. There is no separate third-party ProjectX integration at Topstep to migrate away from.
  • What happened to ProjectX: ProjectX Trading, LLC ended third-party licensing of its platform to other prop firms, announced in November 2025, with the wind-down completed February 28, 2026.
  • Where to look if you want a similar setup: firms that moved off ProjectX mostly landed on Tradovate, NinjaTrader, or Rithmic; see the migration table below for exactly where each firm went.

If you came here after reading an older roundup, a 2024 or 2025 forum thread, or ProjectX’s own now-outdated developer documentation, the firm you are looking for almost certainly no longer offers ProjectX. This page checks each firm’s own live pages, as of the date above, and names exactly what replaced ProjectX everywhere we could confirm it.

What ProjectX is and what happened to it

Before and after diagram showing ProjectX connected to several firms, then narrowed to a single arrow to TopstepX, with other firms now pointing to Tradovate, NinjaTrader, and Rithmic
Where the firms went: ProjectX licensed its platform to many firms, then narrowed to one.

ProjectX Trading, LLC is the company behind the ProjectX futures-trading platform. Its own live homepage states: “After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to wind down our ProjectX third-party service offering for most of our partners. We will continue supporting partners who are sunsetting the ProjectX offering through February 28, 2026, and are working closely with each of them to ensure a smooth, professional transition. If you wish to continue using the platform as a trader, please visit topstep.com/topstepx to get started.” That notice is dated to a November 2025 announcement, and the wind-down window it describes closed on February 28, 2026.

Before that wind-down, ProjectX’s own developer documentation listed more than a dozen firm names as third-party licensees, including names still searched today: Top One Futures, Lucid Trading, Tradeify, Blue Guardian, TickTickTrader, Futures Elite, Day Traders, E8X Funding Futures, The Futures Desk, FXIFY Futures, Hola Prime, and TX3 Funding, among others. That roster is now stale. We re-checked every firm named below on its own current pages, not on ProjectX’s old documentation, because the documentation itself was not maintained through the wind-down.

Topstep’s own TopstepX platform page confirms the other half of this story: “The TopstepX trading platform is a trading platform designed to help retail traders develop sound habits, discipline, and risk management. It is developed and owned by ProjectX Trading LLC (‘TopstepX’).” TopstepX is not a firm that licensed ProjectX and could lose that license; it is the ProjectX engine, sold under Topstep’s brand. That is why Topstep is the one name on this list that never had anywhere to migrate from.

Topstep is the only prop firm using ProjectX today

Status: Uses ProjectX, as TopstepX, on every account stage: the Trading Combine, the Express Funded Account, and the Live Funded Account. Confirmed purchasable today at topstep.com, read October 3, 2026.

Video: “What Is a Topstep Express Funded Account (XFA)? Funded Trader Payouts Explained,” Topstep official YouTube channel, May 14, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: the only official explainer of the funded stage this platform leads to; no video on the channel covers the ProjectX ownership fact directly.

Topstep sells its $50K Trading Combine two ways. The Standard path costs $49 a month and adds a $149 one-time activation fee once a trader earns a funded account, working out to $99.00 per $1,000 of loss room. The No Activation Fee path costs more up front at $95 a month but carries no activation fee at all, which works out cheaper overall at $47.50 per $1,000 of loss room, or $42.50 with Topstep’s Responsible Trading Discount. Both paths run on TopstepX exclusively; there is no alternate platform choice at checkout, because TopstepX is the only platform Topstep offers.

The $2,000 Maximum Loss Limit on the $50K Combine is an end-of-day trailing floor, checked in real time including unrealized profit and loss, and it locks at the starting balance once a trader’s account grows enough. Either side of TopstepX, both the Express Funded Account and the Live Funded Account close an account that sits inactive for 30 days running.

Live call-up, named as a warning, not a ranking reason. Topstep’s own 2025 statistic shows 0.71% of Express Funded Account participants were moved up to a Live Funded Account that year. That move is discretionary and cannot be declined. Once on Live, a trader loses access to TopstepX’s API-automation route, which only runs on simulated accounts. This is worth knowing before you buy, not a reason to rank TopstepX lower, since every ProjectX-based account you could buy today runs through this exact same call-up path.

Trustpilot: 3.6 from 14,892 reviews, read October 2, 2026. Support staff individually resolve refunds for renewal, residency and card issues. Long-tenure traders credit Topstep with improving trading skill and mindset over time. Simple rules and the TopstepX platform are a recurring positive theme. On the other side: A September 22, 2026 TopstepX platform outage caused losses; one reviewer describes the support team as rude and disputing trade timing afterward. Platform bugs and glitches make up part of a 19% one-star share of all ratings. Monthly Combine subscriptions keep rebilling until cancelled, and several reviewers report an unnoticed renewal.

How we checked prop firms that use ProjectX

Five-step process behind our check of prop firms that use ProjectX, built from each firm’s own pages and dated checks
The five checks behind every ranking in the Prop Trader’s Guide.

A firm counts as using ProjectX today only if ProjectX is a platform a trader can actually select at checkout or on a live account right now, confirmed on the firm’s own live page, help centre, or checkout screen. We did not count a mention on ProjectX’s own historical developer documentation, a 2024 or 2025 marketing claim, or a stale third-party roundup as current evidence; those sources only tell us a firm was once a licensee, never what it runs today. For every firm except Topstep, the expected and normal finding was that ProjectX is gone, and the real work was confirming exactly what replaced it, quoting the firm’s own words wherever it acknowledged the change.

We read each firm’s current checkout or account-selector page, its help centre and FAQ, and any banner or notice on its homepage. Where a firm’s own pages contradicted each other, we quote both and go with the more conservative reading. A live call-up to a real-money account is treated as a warning throughout this post, never as a reason to grade a firm worse, since it applies equally to the one firm that does use ProjectX today.

Notes on this table: “Not taking new traders” means the firm’s checkout has no account-size selector and no working purchase button today, not that the firm has closed. “Site unreachable” means our own two checks returned an error, not that the firm has shut down; we report only what we found and when. Where a firm’s connection to ProjectX was never confirmed on its own pages, even historically, the status column says so rather than treating a third-party mention as proof.

Hidden Trustpilot ratings among these firms

Two firms in this post show Trustpilot’s “breach of our guidelines” banner instead of a visible score: Futures Elite and E8 Futures and AquaFutures. Trustpilot’s own banner text cites pressuring reviewers to remove negative reviews, or coordinated fake-review activity, as the trigger. We state the banner and the review count plainly rather than substituting either firm’s own self-claimed score.

Firms still taking new traders after moving off ProjectX

These firms were once linked to ProjectX and sell evaluations or funded accounts today on a different platform. Each block below states exactly what the firm’s own pages show, in the firm’s own words where it addresses the change directly.

TX3 Funding Futures reopened a Futures checkout that ProjectX’s wind-down had briefly shut, on a new Tradovate/NinjaTrader stack

TX3 Funding Futures spent part of early 2026 locked out of its own checkout: “Purchasing Futures Challenges is temporarily disabled as Project X is no longer working with Propfirms… Ninja Trader, Tradovate, and TradingView are right around the corner.” That promise has been kept in full.

That banner is gone and the promise has been kept: as of October 3, 2026 the Futures checkout is fully open again across four account models (Type X, SX, GTX, GTX Redline), all running on Tradovate/NinjaTrader with TradingView as the charting front end.

Runs on: Tradovate, NinjaTrader, TradingView (via the Tradovate/NinjaTrader connection).

Price: SX 100K: $259 one-time list, $168 with the STARTER35 promo code.

Tradeify published the clearest firm-written FAQ entry naming exactly why ProjectX disappeared

Tradeify answers the ProjectX question head-on in its own help centre: “What happened to ProjectX? We offered ProjectX as a platform option for a short time. ProjectX decided to drop all of their clients, so we no longer offer that platform.”

Runs on: Tradovate, NinjaTrader (Elite Live only), WealthCharts, Tradesea (Rithmic connection).

Price: $145 one-time list (Growth 50K); $165 one-time list (Select 50K). Activation fee: $0 across every current Tradeify account type.

Top One Futures shows zero ProjectX history anywhere on its own checkout or help centre today

Search Top One Futures’ help centre for ProjectX and you get zero results; the firm’s checkout today runs on Tradovate/NinjaTrader, or BlackArrow with no transition notice anywhere.

A help-centre search for ProjectX returns zero articles; ProjectX is not named anywhere on the firm’s current site, not even in a transition FAQ.

Runs on: Tradovate/NinjaTrader, or BlackArrow.

Price: Elite Daily (V2) $218/month list, $120 with code OCT (45% off).

DayTraders.com never named ProjectX on its own pages at all, despite appearing on ProjectX’s old partner list

DayTraders.com never once mentioned ProjectX on its own site, even though ProjectX’s old partner documentation once listed this firm; its live checkout sells Rithmic (R|Trader Pro); ArcTrader (own browser platform, checkout marked coming soon).

Only Rithmic is selectable at checkout today. We found no mention of ProjectX anywhere on daytraders.com, and ProjectX’s own partner list no longer names this firm either, so the ProjectX connection here was never confirmed on the firm’s own pages.

Runs on: Rithmic (R|Trader Pro); ArcTrader (own browser platform, checkout marked coming soon).

Price: $40 one-time (Static evaluation, $25K) plus a $5 Pro activation fee.

FXIFY Futures runs three platforms side by side with no ProjectX mention in any plan overview

FXIFY Futures runs NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView across its plan pages today, and none of its FAQ articles, overview pages or help categories name ProjectX at all.

We checked the homepage, the FAQ index, both plan-overview articles and the platform help category and found zero mentions of ProjectX anywhere on the firm’s live site.

Runs on: NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView.

Price: $179 one-time list (Flex Plan, $50K). Activation fee: $0.

Futures Elite bundles six platform choices into one checkout step, none of them ProjectX

Futures Elite’s CEO waved off “news circulating about ProjectX” to FinanceMagnates back in November 2025; today’s checkout shows the firm fully migrated to a six-platform stack.

Runs on: Tradovate, NinjaTrader, WealthCharts, DeepCharts, Quantower, ATAS.

Price: $99 list / $69.30 at 30% off (Elite plan, $25K, one-time).

Blue Guardian Futures folded its old standalone domain into a unified brand site with a two-platform checkout

Blue Guardian Futures folded its old standalone futures domain into the unified blueguardian.com brand, and the checkout behind that merger offers only Tradovate, DeepCharts, NinjaTrader and TradingView via the Tradovate bundle.

The old blueguardianfutures.com domain now redirects to the unified blueguardian.com brand site; its live checkout shows only Tradovate and DeepCharts as the platform choice.

Runs on: Tradovate, DeepCharts, NinjaTrader and TradingView via the Tradovate bundle.

Price: $116.00 list (Standard, $25K).

Hola Prime Futures bundles Tradovate and NinjaTrader into one checkout selection alongside WealthCharts

Hola Prime Futures bundles its platform choice into one checkout step: Tradovate/NinjaTrader (bundled), WealthCharts, with no ProjectX option and no FAQ ever naming it.

The firm’s own platform table and live checkout both show the same three platforms with no ProjectX anywhere; Hola Prime’s own site carries no FAQ or banner acknowledging ProjectX was ever offered.

Runs on: Tradovate/NinjaTrader (bundled), WealthCharts.

Price: $99 one-time (Limited Deal, $25K). Activation fee: $0.

E8 Futures sells exactly one platform for futures trading today, and it is not ProjectX

E8 Futures sells exactly one platform for futures trading today, confirmed by its own help article, and ProjectX is not that platform.

Runs on: Tradovate (the only platform currently sold for Futures SimFi trading).

Price: $120 list, $114 with a live 5% off code (E8 Signature, $25K, one-time).

AquaFutures deleted its own ProjectX help article rather than leaving it live and outdated

AquaFutures quietly retired its own “Getting Started with ProjectX” help article; the link now 404s instead of staying live with outdated instructions.

Runs on: DeepCharts (Volumetrica), Tradovate, NinjaTrader.

Lucid Trading runs two separate connection routes, CQG and Rithmic, with no third ProjectX option

Lucid Trading’s own Supported Platforms article names exactly two connection routes, CQG and Rithmic, and ProjectX is not mentioned in either.

Runs on: NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView (via CQG); MotiveWave, Quantower, Tradesea, Sierra Chart, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, R|Trader Pro, MultiCharts (via Rithmic).

BluSky lists six broker variants at checkout with no ProjectX option on any of them

BluSky’s live checkout lists six broker and platform variants, and the firm’s help centre has never published a single FAQ or banner naming ProjectX.

Runs on: Volumetrica, Tradovate, Rithmic, Tradesea, Tickblaze, BlackArrow.

  • Trustpilot: 4.7 from 898 reviews, read September 30, 2026.

TickTickTrader, what we checked while the site was unreachable

Status today: Site unreachable. tickticktrader.com returned a Cloudflare security-verification challenge in a live browser tab, and a reader-proxy fetch of the same URL returned a Framer “Site Not Found” error, on both October 2 and October 3, 2026. No checkout, pricing or platform page was reachable on either day. We are not repeating a third-party claim that the firm has shut down; we can only report what we checked and when.

Trustpilot: 3.4 from 6,639 reviews, read October 3, 2026. This figure comes from Trustpilot directly, not from tickticktrader.com, since the firm’s own site returned an error on both days we checked.

Choosing a platform now that ProjectX has narrowed to one firm

If your old ProjectX firm moved you to a new platform, you landed on one of four names: Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, or TradingView (almost always as a front end connected through one of the other three, not as a standalone broker connection). Each works differently enough to matter before you commit to a firm on it.

  • Tradovate: a cloud-based futures platform with web, desktop, and mobile clients, a built-in trade copier, and native TradingView charting through its own add-on. The platform most of the firms in this post’s migration table landed on. See our full breakdown at prop firms that use Tradovate.
  • NinjaTrader: a desktop-first charting and execution platform several firms bundle alongside Tradovate rather than offering as a true standalone choice; check whether a firm’s checkout treats the two as one combined option before assuming you get a free pick between them.
  • Rithmic: a data and order-routing layer underneath several third-party front ends (Sierra Chart, Quantower, R|Trader Pro, MotiveWave, ATAS, Bookmap) rather than a single branded app; firms on Rithmic usually let you pick which of those front ends you actually trade in.
  • TradingView: almost always reached by logging into TradingView’s own Trading Panel with credentials issued by Tradovate or another broker, not as an independent connection with its own separate account; confirm which route a firm actually uses before assuming TradingView works the same way everywhere.
Checklist before buying a prop firm after the ProjectX wind-down: platform named on the firm's site, data feed and fees, order types, copier or automation rules, platform fee after funding, device support
Six checks to make on the firm’s own pages before you buy.
  1. Platform named on the firm’s own site: confirm the exact platform at checkout for the specific product and size you are buying, not just a homepage logo row.
  2. Data feed and fees: check whether Level 1 market data is free during evaluation and whether that changes once an account is funded or live.
  3. Order types you use: confirm your usual order types (brackets, OCO, trailing stops) are supported on the specific platform a firm assigns you, since not every platform supports every order type identically.
  4. Copier or automation rules: if you run a copier, EA, or bot, check the firm’s rules for that platform specifically; some platforms and firms ban automation outright.
  5. Platform fee after funding: price the platform and data fees at the funded or live stage, not just during evaluation, since several firms in this post charge far more once simulation ends.
  6. Support for your device: confirm the platform works on your desktop, browser, or mobile setup, since some platforms are desktop-only or browser-only.

Prop firms that use ProjectX FAQ

Does Topstep use ProjectX?

Yes. TopstepX, Topstep’s trading platform, is developed and owned by ProjectX Trading LLC. Topstep’s own site states this directly in its disclosures, and it is the one case where ProjectX is not a third-party add-on a firm licensed and could lose; it is the ProjectX engine itself, sold under Topstep’s own brand.

Which prop firms use ProjectX?

As of our October 3, 2026 check, only Topstep (through TopstepX) runs ProjectX today. ProjectX Trading, LLC ended third-party licensing to every other prop firm, with the wind-down completed February 28, 2026. Firms once linked to ProjectX, including Tradeify, Top One Futures, FXIFY Futures, Blue Guardian Futures, and others, have moved to Tradovate, NinjaTrader, or Rithmic; see the migration table above for exactly where each one went.

Is ProjectX shutting down?

Not entirely. ProjectX Trading, LLC wound down its third-party licensing business, meaning it stopped selling the platform to other prop firms, but the platform itself continues to operate under Topstep’s TopstepX brand. If you traded on ProjectX through a firm other than Topstep, that specific access ended; the platform as a whole did not disappear.

Is ProjectX the same as TopstepX?

Yes, functionally. TopstepX is the ProjectX platform, developed and owned by ProjectX Trading LLC and sold exclusively through Topstep. There is no separate “ProjectX app” you can access outside of Topstep today.

What platform replaced ProjectX at my firm?

It depends on the firm; check the migration table above for the specific firm you traded with. Most firms in this post’s research moved to Tradovate, several bundle NinjaTrader alongside it, and a smaller group runs on Rithmic-connected front ends such as Quantower or Sierra Chart.

Can I still trade on ProjectX if I am not with Topstep?

No, not as a new trader signing up through a different firm. ProjectX Trading, LLC ended new third-party partnerships; the only current, purchasable path to the ProjectX engine is through Topstep’s TopstepX product.

Is TopstepX the only way to access the ProjectX platform now?

Based on every firm we checked for this post, yes. The Futures Desk’s own knowledge base describes a white-labelled version of ProjectX called TFD-X, but that firm is not currently selling new evaluations
