Topstep’s figure covers one month of a monthly bill, and FundingPips’ and Goat Funded Trader’s rest on activation fees the firms do not publish either way. Futures or forex, why prop firms split on Jamaica

Directories say a firm “accepts Jamaican traders” or list one market’s restrictions. Put the two side by side and the pattern is plain. Fifteen futures firms name Jamaica on their own lists, nearly always beside the Bahamas, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago. No forex or crypto firm we checked does. On the forex side the bars fall on smaller islands instead: FTMO bars eight states, FundedNext three, Maven Trading one, and Alpha Capital Group’s checkout leaves out Jamaica without banning it.

The futures firms that explain their lists point to their brokers and data providers, not to Jamaica itself. TradeDay says “Due to the restrictions put on us by our US FCM (our Clearing firm), and broker, we cannot accept traders who are citizens or residents of the countries listed below.” Phidias lists “Partners, brokers, or data providers unable to open real accounts in certain regions.” Take Profit Trader says it acts “in line with regulatory requirements and CME guidelines”. Money is the second split: one firm can pay in Jamaican dollars, and everyone else pays in US dollars, euros or crypto.

What a prop firm is for Jamaican and Caribbean traders, and how it works

A prop firm sells you an evaluation on a simulated account. You trade to a profit target without breaking a daily or overall loss limit; pass, and you get a funded account, usually still simulated, and the firm pays you a share of the simulated profit, typically 80% to 90%. That is different from a broker account, where your own money sits in a real account and every loss is yours. • For: your loss is capped at the fee, you can trade a $50,000 account for $95 to $379, most firms here pay 80% or more of profit, several keep a static floor, and E8 Markets can pay into a Jamaican bank in Jamaican dollars.
• Against: most buyers never reach a payout, a broken daily limit ends most forex accounts at once, funded accounts are mostly simulated, payouts arrive in US dollars or euros that your bank converts, and most futures firms do not sell to Jamaica at all.

Most firms here describe funded accounts as simulated or demo. “Although FTMO Traders trade with simulated capital only, they are entitled to receive a Reward in the form of real money”, FTMO says, and E8 Markets says “All accounts at E8 Markets are demo accounts”, running on real market data. The firms are offshore companies registered in the UK, the US, the Czech Republic, Saint Lucia, the UAE and elsewhere, and none of the pages we read claims a licence from a Caribbean regulator.

How we checked prop firms for Jamaica and the Caribbean

1. Read each firm’s own restricted-countries page, terms, help articles and, where it loads, the checkout country list, product by product and arm by arm, and read every list to the end for all 21 places.
2. Give each place one status per product: named as accepted, not listed on a closed list, not listed on an open-ended list (“including”), barred, or a narrower limit such as a live stage only, not offered at checkout, conflicting pages, or a clause that may reach it.
3. Note what each list tests: residence, citizenship, the country on your ID or where you are, plus any route the firm publishes for nationals living elsewhere.
4. Price every $50K variant at list price, add any activation fee, divide by the smallest overall loss limit at any stage (never a daily limit or a per-trade rule), and multiply by 1,000. Codes go in the firm notes only.
5. Rank one product per firm: the cheapest open in Jamaica. Band A is open on the promised funded stage in all 13 independent states; Band B names the states where it is not.
6. Note the currency charged, the payout routes that reach a Caribbean bank and the currency that lands, live-stage terms, Trustpilot, and a search of Caribbean regulators’ alert pages.
