Best Prop Firms for Gold Trading With XAUUSD and Futures

Gold CFD and futures prop accounts compared by named instrument, funded access, list-price loss room, execution costs and rules. Checked October 3, 2026.

Document-based research and editorial review. Last reviewed October 6, 2026 38 min read

Key takeaways

Alpha Capital Group’s Alpha Pro 10% is the cheapest fully-priced $50K XAUUSD route checked at $53.40 per $1,000 of initial loss room; E8 Pro 8% follows at $57.00 and FundedNext Stellar Lite at $57.50. FundingPips Flex has a $49.83 evaluation-fee lower bound, but its activation charge is not confirmed. For GC and MGC gold futures, Topstep’s No Activation Fee path starts at $47.50 on a one-month assumption. Gold access, funded-stage restrictions, execution charges and metals leverage are checked separately. Checked October 3, 2026.

Best prop firms for gold trading with a trader watching a gold chart

The quick answer on the best prop firm for XAUUSD

A homepage saying “trade metals” does not establish funded XAUUSD access. This comparison checks the named gold instrument, the account stage it survives to, its published costs and its actual loss allowance. Sixteen firms were checked: ten gold-CFD listings and four gold-futures listings qualify for the comparison, covering thirteen brands because E8 appears in both product groups. Three other firms have an access or availability gap. FundingPips remains in the gold comparison but has no numerical price rank until its activation fee is confirmed.

Cheapest fully-priced XAUUSD

Alpha Pro 10% $50K, $53.40 per $1,000. FundingPips Flex’s lower-bound figure is not a complete price.

Cheapest gold futures

Topstep No Activation Fee $50K, $47.50 for the first month. Subscription time can change the total.

Highest base funded gold leverage

FTMO Standard publishes 1:50 on gold. FXIFY starts at 1:30; its paid upgrade reaches 1:50. AudaCity’s 1:100 is evaluation leverage, not funded leverage.

Lowest stated gold commission

Alpha Pro’s XAUUSD commission is $0. The spread and any swap remain trading costs; zero commission is not a free fill.

Gold CFDs vs gold futures for prop traders

XAUUSD, XAU/USD, GOLD and Gold are platform-dependent names for a gold CFD in this comparison. GC and MGC are COMEX-listed gold futures. A prop evaluation is still usually simulated even when it uses the exchange contract’s price feed. A futures ticker does not by itself mean the account trades real money.

FXIFY’s XAUUSD.r specification uses a 100-ounce standard lot, while the Gold contract listed by The5ers also uses 100 ounces with a 0.01-lot minimum. GC represents 100 troy ounces and MGC represents 10. Futures expire and require the right contract month; spot-CFD positions instead face the firm’s spread, commission and rollover terms.

A worked $20 move: A one-lot, 100-ounce CFD position changes by $2,000 before fees. A one-contract GC position changes by the same $2,000; one MGC changes by $200. Using Topstep’s published gold round-turn charges, a favorable $20 move produces $1,995.68 on GC or $198.08 on MGC before slippage. An adverse move loses $2,004.32 or $201.92 after those charges. The CFD’s net result cannot be calculated from its symbol alone without the actual spread and commission.

Best prop firms for gold trading compared through Gold CFD and Gold futures
Same metal, different product.

Micro does not mean risk-free: Ten MGC contracts equal one GC’s 100-ounce exposure, but at Topstep ten micro round trips cost $19.20 versus $4.32 for one GC. The extra $14.88 is the published fee trade-off for finer sizing. A CFD minimum of 0.01 lot can represent one ounce where the specification says 100 ounces per lot, smaller exposure than one MGC; it is incorrect to say CFDs cannot provide micro-sized gold exposure.

How we checked prop firms for gold trading

We used the firm’s own instrument sheet, contract specification, leverage table or funded rule that names gold. A general metals category without a named gold instrument is not enough. A shared instrument list is marked as such; where no separate funded-only list exists, access is an inference from the published program scope, not a claim that we saw a dedicated funded sheet. Missing spread, swap or margin figures are left unconfirmed rather than filled from another firm.

Best prop firms for gold trading checked for access fees and loss limits
A named instrument and a funded-stage rule matter more than a metals claim.

Each numerical rank compares the cheapest gold-qualifying $50K variant with confirmed inputs. Cost per $1,000 of initial loss room equals (list evaluation fee + same-product activation fee) ÷ smallest published overall max-loss allowance in dollars × 1,000. It does not use a daily loss limit, a per-position rule or a minimum-balance requirement. Static, end-of-day trailing and intraday trailing allowances remain different risks even if their initial dollar widths match.

Prices are list prices, not a coupon, struck-through discount result or multi-account bundle. Monthly futures entries assume one paid month and no resets. Unknown activation fees do not become $0. Live call-up warnings and withheld Trustpilot scores do not determine the ranking. Within each product group, completed numerical inputs sort from low to high; ties share the same position and lower list price breaks display ties. The unpriced entry follows the completed calculations.

Notes on this ranking: * The5ers’ current size table uses “8%” while a separate High Stakes FAQ uses “10%” for overall loss. The smaller $4,000 allowance produces $62.25; $5,000 would produce $49.80. ‡ FundingPips does not publish its activation fee, so its row is unpriced. Its $299 fee alone gives a $49.83 lower bound, not a complete total. Alpha Pro is the lowest completed calculation. FTMO uses the October 2, 2026 ECB EUR/USD rate of 1.1225. Equal $65.80 entries share rank 5; numbering then resumes at 7. Gold-specific execution costs are separate from this entry-fee metric.

Alpha Capital Group gold Pro publishes zero commission

Zero commission is Alpha Pro’s useful distinction for gold, not a promise of zero trading cost. XAUUSD still has a bid-ask spread, and the funded news rule can remove profit while leaving losses untouched.

First watch-out: An Alpha Prime selection can end simulated trading. Declining receives a final eligible payout but ends further access within the group. This transition does not determine the gold ranking.

Product and price: The Alpha Pro 10% $50K list fee is $267.00 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $5,000 at $50,000, static. The entry calculation is ($267.00 + $0.00) ÷ $5,000 × 1,000 = $53.40.

Gold access and trading cost: XAUUSD.pro/raw is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, funded rules name it. $0 Pro; Raw $5 RT/lot. 1:30 on Pro. Raw’s $2.50 per side becomes $5 round trip; the base Pro row uses the stated $0 commission, not the Raw feed.

Targets, payouts and platform: Alpha Pro 10% targets are 10% then 5%, or $5,000 then $2,500. The daily limit is 5%, or $2,500. There are three minimum trading days per phase. The base split is 80%; On-Demand requests need 2% gross profit ($1,000) and a 40% best-day calculation. The evaluation fee is not refunded. MT5, cTrader, DXtrade and TradeLocker are offered. Code ALPHA20 reduces $267 to $213.60 through October 31, 2026; this ranking still uses $267.

News and holding: Evaluation news is unrestricted. Once funded, XAUUSD.pro/raw falls under a five-minute-before/after high-impact-news window. Profits are removed; losses remain. Alpha Pro does not allow funded weekend holds; Alpha Swing is a separate product.

Trustpilot: Rating not displayed, 21,810 reviews, read October 1, 2026. The rating is withheld following a guidelines-breach notice, not replaced here by a firm’s advertised score.

E8 Pro gold combines a static floor with a payout buffer

E8 Pro’s 8% configuration costs only slightly more than its 6% configuration but supplies more initial loss room. Its static floor is attractive for XAUUSD, although the daily profit cap and retained payout buffer matter after the pass.

Product and price: The E8 Pro 8% $50K (Classic Markets) list fee is $228.00 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $4,000 at $50,000, static. The entry calculation is ($228.00 + $0.00) ÷ $4,000 × 1,000 = $57.00.

Gold access and trading cost: XAUUSD is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, unchanged by stage. Gold spread/fee not itemized. 1:15; maximum 20 lots.

Targets, payouts and platform: The 8% preset targets $4,000 and has a 2.5% daily drawdown limit ($1,250). Its 2% daily profit cap counts at most $1,000 a day. At payout, 50% of total profit remains as a buffer; the standard 80% split applies to the requestable half. For example, $2,000 gross profit leaves $1,000 requestable before the split, producing an $800 reward. A static initial loss allowance is not a promise that all profit can be withdrawn. TradeLocker, MatchTrader, MT5 and cTrader depend on location and eligibility. Code E8 is shown in related pricing with no end date stated; no discounted figure replaces the list price here.

News and holding: E8 Pro expressly allows news trading. Do not import E8 One’s funded five-minute-before/after news ban into Pro. A gold-specific weekend or rollover exception is not published in the sources checked.

Live transition: No live call-up exists in the published E8 terms; its Challenge and Performance accounts are simulated.

Trustpilot: Rating not displayed, 3,297 reviews, read October 3, 2026. The rating is withheld following a guidelines-breach notice, not replaced here by a firm’s advertised score.

FundedNext gold Lite postpones its fee refund

Stellar Lite wins FundedNext’s gold comparison on the entry-fee metric, not on every term. It has a smaller loss allowance than Stellar 2-Step and returns the evaluation fee later.

Product and price: The Stellar Lite $50K list fee is $229.99 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $4,000 at $50,000, static. The entry calculation is ($229.99 + $0.00) ÷ $4,000 × 1,000 = $57.50.

Gold access and trading cost: XAU/USD is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, both rule tabs. Gold fee not confirmed. 1:10 Commodities.

Targets, payouts and platform: Lite targets are 8% then 4%, or $4,000 then $2,000 at $50K. Its 4% daily limit is $2,000, and each phase requires five trading days. The starting split is 80%. On the Standard path the first funded cycle is 21 days, then biweekly. Lite refunds the fee with the third reward; Stellar 2-Step refunds with the first. MT5 is included; cTrader or eligible MatchTrader access adds $25. The no-activation, no-recurring-fees policy is explicit. No promo was confirmed on Lite when checked.

News and holding: The funded News Reward Share Rule credits only 40% of affected profit from the five-minute-before/after window; Challenge accounts are exempt. Overnight and weekend positions are allowed under the product’s general policy, with standard swap unless a paid swap-free option is selected.

Live transition: No discretionary move to a real-money trading account is published; the compared account is simulated.

The5ers gold High Stakes has conflicting loss limits

High Stakes names Gold with a 100-ounce contract, but the firm’s loss-limit pages do not agree. That disagreement changes the price comparison enough to warrant a conservative calculation.

Product and price: The High Stakes 2-Step $50K list fee is $249.00 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $4,000 at $50,000, static. The entry calculation is ($249.00 + $0.00) ÷ $4,000 × 1,000 = $62.25.

Gold access and trading cost: Gold is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, shared platform list. Percentage-based; rate not stated. 1:25 High Stakes. The shared specification is not split into a separate funded instrument sheet; no narrower gold exclusion was stated in the sources checked.

Targets, payouts and platform: The $50K High Stakes offer is a two-step evaluation. A gold-specific spread or numerical commission percentage is not stated on the asset page; confirm both on the selected platform. Gold starts at 0.01 lot, equal to one ounce on its 100-ounce contract. Profit-target, daily-limit, split, refund and scaling figures for this exact current offer were not confirmed in the gold check; obtain the current offer’s written terms rather than assuming another High Stakes configuration.

News and holding: High Stakes prohibits order execution two minutes before and after high-impact news; affected profits are deducted while losses stand. Its asset page does not give a numerical gold swap rate. The high-swap weekend note there is scoped to indices and energy, not automatically to metals.

Live transition: No discretionary call-up away from an existing funded account is published. Acceptance into the Professional User stage and whether suggested trades are executed are separate contractual matters.

AudaCity gold access is named in its funded agreement

AudaCity’s funded agreement names XAUUSD explicitly, making the gold-access evidence more specific than a generic metals promise. The Ability Challenge is the best-priced gold route among the three programs checked.

Product and price: The Ability Challenge (2-step) $50K list fee is $329.00 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $5,000 at $50,000, static. The entry calculation is ($329.00 + $0.00) ÷ $5,000 × 1,000 = $65.80.

Gold access and trading cost: XAUUSD is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, funded agreement. Gold spread/fee not confirmed. 1:100 challenge; 1:30 funded.

Targets, payouts and platform: The Ability Challenge carries a $5,000 overall allowance at its smallest confirmed stage. The 1:100 evaluation leverage falls to 1:30 when funded across all assets, including gold. The agreement names XAUUSD, but a gold-specific spread, swap and numerical commission were not confirmed. Product-specific targets, payout split, refund timing, platform fees and scaling criteria were not confirmed for this comparison.

News and holding: No separate gold news window or gold-only weekend exception was confirmed. That absence does not establish blanket permission. Check the current Ability Challenge agreement and the platform’s spread and swap sheet before holding through a release or rollover.

Live transition: No discretionary brokerage transfer is published; even stages called Live remain simulated under the terms checked.

City Traders Imperium gold carries Wednesday triple swap

Wednesday rollover is the detail a CTI gold swing trader should notice. Gold belongs to the commodities leverage group, and its triple-swap day differs from the day used for indices and crypto.

First watch-out: CTI may invite a trader into a separate broker agreement. A trader-initiated right to refuse and keep the existing arrangement is not published.

Product and price: The 2-Step Challenge $50K list fee is $329.00 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $5,000 at $50,000, static. The entry calculation is ($329.00 + $0.00) ÷ $5,000 × 1,000 = $65.80.

Gold access and trading cost: Gold is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, all programs. $5/lot; Wednesday triple swap. 1:10 Commodities.

Targets, payouts and platform: The 2-Step has a fixed $5,000 overall loss allowance. CTI’s 1-Step costs $299 against $2,500 of trailing loss room, producing $119.60 per $1,000 rather than $65.80 for this row. The nearest Instant Funding sizes are not $50K, so they do not replace the exact-size comparison. Product-specific targets, daily loss, payout split, refunds, platform charges and growth criteria were not confirmed in the gold check.

News and holding: Gold uses the Wednesday triple-swap category at rollover. No gold-specific news blackout was published in the pages checked; CTI’s general gambling and prohibited-strategy policy still applies. Confirm overnight and weekend permission for the chosen account, not just the swap day.

FTMO gold 1-Step is cheaper but its floor trails

FTMO’s cheapest gold evaluation is the 1-Step, but it does not buy the same drawdown mechanics as the 2-Step. Both use the named XAU/USD specification; the cheaper path has an end-of-day trailing loss limit and no fee refund.

Product and price: The 1-Step $50K list fee is €319, converted to $358.08 using EUR/USD 1.1225 on October 2, 2026 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $5,000 at $50,000, EOD trailing. The entry calculation is ($358.0775 + $0.00) ÷ $5,000 × 1,000 = $71.62.

Gold access and trading cost: XAU/USD is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, shared symbol sheet. 0.0014% notional; swap extra. 1:50 Standard. The shared specification is not split into a separate funded instrument sheet; no narrower gold exclusion was stated in the sources checked.

Targets, payouts and platform: The 1-Step target is 10%, or $5,000. There are no minimum trading days, but a 50% best-day rule applies both to passing and to rewards. The starting split is 90%, and the fee is non-refundable. The 2-Step costs €345 ($387.26 at the stated rate), uses a static $5,000 overall allowance and returns its fee with the first reward. MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView are selectable. Gold’s snapshot swap figures were -65.63 points long and -4.2 points short; these are variable platform specifications, not a guaranteed future rate. No promo was confirmed.

News and holding: The funded Standard news restriction names Gold and covers two minutes before and after designated releases. Evaluations are exempt. Standard funded accounts must follow weekend-closing rules; Swing is a different option and should not be inferred from this 1-Step row.

Live transition: The FTMO Account is simulated. No discretionary real-money call-up is published.

FXIFY gold keeps the same leverage as its forex pairs

Matching gold and forex leverage is FXIFY’s distinguishing feature here. Standard Two Phase Classic uses 1:30 for both, while its 1:50 option is a paid upgrade rather than the terms of the base-priced row.

Product and price: The Two Phase Classic $50K list fee is $379.00 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $5,000 at $50,000, static. The entry calculation is ($379.00 + $0.00) ÷ $5,000 × 1,000 = $75.80.

Gold access and trading cost: XAUUSD.r is named on the firm’s own specification or product list. Yes, shared symbol sheet. Feed pricing; gold rate not stated. 1:30; paid upgrade 1:50. The shared specification is not split into a separate funded instrument sheet; no narrower gold exclusion was stated in the sources checked.

Targets, payouts and platform: Classic targets are 10% then 5%, or $5,000 then $2,500. The daily loss limit is 4%, or $2,000, measured against the prior-day 5PM EST balance. Five trading days per phase are required. The base 14-day schedule starts at an 80% split; the 30-day choice lists 100%. The minimum withdrawal is $50. MT5, DXtrade and TradingView are offered. REWARD25 is advertised at 25% off, making $379 become $284.25; the site gives October 31 and November 1, 2026 as conflicting end dates, so October 31 is the conservative end. FIFTY40 ended October 2, 2026 and is not a current offer.

News and holding: One-, two- and three-phase accounts allow news trading, but unusually large news risk may still be treated as improper risk management. General weekend holding is allowed. FXIFY’s FAQ says it “does not offer swap-free accounts,” so gold held overnight carries the normal swap. Lightning has a different news blackout and is not the Classic product shown here.

Live transition: No discretionary call-up after funding is published. The firm’s right to reject a passer before funding is a different contractual risk.

Funding Traders gold has a separate risk-per-idea limit

GOLD appears in Funding Traders’ funded commission article and its worked risk examples. The additional trade-idea limit means a position can breach a rule well before the account-wide loss allowance is exhausted.

Product and price: The 1-Step Pro $50K list fee is $492.00 one-time; activation is $0.00. Its smallest quoted overall max-loss allowance is $5,000 at $50,000, intraday trailing. The entry calculation is (
