How we counted the best prop firm Reddit threads

Five-step method behind the best prop firms according to Reddit: fees, rules, payout terms, Trustpilot sentiment and the firm’s own videos
The five checks behind every ranking in the Prop Trader’s Guide.
Method

Subreddits: r/PropFirmTester, r/Daytrading, r/Forex, r/propfirm, r/FuturesTrading and firm subreddits such as r/TakeProfitTrader and r/tradeify. Queries: firm name, firm name plus “payout”, and “payout” in the firm’s subreddit (top, past year), plus the nine threads Google ranks for “best prop firm reddit”. Window: September 27, 2025 to September 27, 2026, read September 29, 2026. Unit: one comment or post naming the firm, hand-labelled payout confirmed, payout problem, rule complaint, recommendation, warning or mention only. Affiliate filter: authors posting codes, directory links or repeated promotional copy were flagged (46 mentions) and never counted as recommenders. Sample: 1,447 firm mentions; 1,380 stored quotes with permalink, date and score from 851 usernames in 322 threads; 13,313 comment units scanned across 17 firm passes. Throttled threads were re-read September 29, 2026. Warning threads: distinct threads with at least one in-window payout-problem or warning comment, affiliate-flagged ones included, crossposts counted separately. Ranking: 3 or more non-affiliate recommending authors in 3 or more threads, ordered by that count, then confirmations minus problems, then Trustpilot. Cautionary: 2 or more warning threads and at least twice as many warning threads as recommending authors, or below the ranking bar. A weighted sentiment score (upvotes plus label weight, stored per firm) is a secondary QA check against the ranking order, never a re-rank signal on its own. Caveat: Reddit quotes are user claims. We did not verify any individual payout or ban.

Every page-one result for this search is a Reddit thread, and none of them counts anything. We count, date and link, then check each claim against the firm’s own pages.

Lucid Trading is the best prop firm on Reddit by recommendation count, and the payout record agrees

Tally: 34 recommenders (20 threads), 29 paid, 5 warning threads.

Top positive: “Another 10k Max Payout. 30k in 31 days” (r/LucidProp, Jul 11, 2026). Top negative: “I was suddenly accused of violating anti money laundering policies without any valid proof and permanently banned” (r/PropFirmTester, Mar 28, 2026).

Another voice in the same window: “I like Lucid because I can use Rithmic and control a daily risk liquidation lockout through R trader pro.” (r/Daytrading, Jul 25, 2026).

Video: “The Closet Within: The Lucid Trading Story,” Lucid Trading official YouTube channel, May 13, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: Lucid’s channel has only two uploads and no payout explainer; this brand story is the only firm-made introduction.

Firm publishes: The LucidFlex payout policy (July 28, 2026): 90/10, $500 minimum, no buffer, no funded consistency, paid within 2 business days, Plaid instant for US traders. It also caps each request at 50% of profit ($2,000 on 50K) and moves the account live after 5 payouts.

Reddit is right. Payout speed matches the policy. The ban-at-payout claims (AML, KYC, “coordinated” trading) cannot be checked. More: Lucid payouts.

Best for: cheap one-time futures evals, fast payouts. You want a $50–$90 one-time LucidFlex eval with no activation fee, no funded consistency or buffer, and Plaid payouts that Reddit and Trustpilot both describe as arriving in minutes.

What a trader actually pays and waits for at Lucid Trading:

  • What you pay: A $25K account runs $50.30 (promo code VAULT; card shows $89 struck and $65.30 coupon price, then ‘LIMITED TIME; SAVINGS TOTAL $15’ for DLL ON; DLL OFF = $65.30 with VAULT). Reset $50 (DLL ON) / $65 (DLL OFF). $0 activation. No expiry shown. A $100K-class account runs $170.60 (promo code VAULT; card shows $293 struck, $215.60 coupon price, ‘SAVINGS TOTAL $45’ for DLL ON; DLL OFF = $215.60 with VAULT). Reset $170 (DLL ON) / $215 (DLL OFF). $0 activation. Other 100K cards today: LucidPro $307 → $225.40 → $180.40 (DLL ON, VAULT), LucidDaily Intraday+DLL ON $224 → $170.30 → $125.30 (VAULT).
  • First payout needs: LucidFlex: 5 separate days each with ≥ minimum daily profit ($100 25K / $150 50K / $200 100K / $250 150K) + positive net profit in the cycle; no buffer; no consistency in funded. LucidPro: minimum profit goal ($250/$500/$750/$1,000), largest day ≤40% of cycle profit, balance above buffer (Initial MLL + $100). LucidDaily: balance above buffer + positive net profit since last payout, daily requests. LucidDirect: 20% consistency + profit goal 1 ($1,500/$3,000/$6,000/$9,000).
  • Payout frequency: No fixed payout window on any plan (‘you may request a payout any day after meeting all eligibility criteria’); funds disbursed within 2 business days
  • Payout method: Plaid (US instant bank), WorkMarket by ADP (US + international, bank or PayPal), crypto for international traders (BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, USDC)

Rules Reddit complains about at Lucid Trading:

  • Hedging / cross-account and cross-user opposing positions (the ban reason most Reddit and Trustpilot complaints cite): “‘Lucid Trading strictly prohibits all forms of hedging, including but not limited to: Hedging across multiple accounts held by the same user; Hedging between different users’ accounts; Hedging between different firms or funded platforms’ … ‘You will receive an email notice & the associated accounts will be reset to prior days balance. After repeated offenses all involved accounts will be breached and you may be permanently restricted’” (firm help center)
  • Microscalping: “‘You will be flagged if: More than 50% of your profits are generated from trades held for 5 seconds or less’ … ‘Traders may request an appeal if they believe the flagged activity was incorrectly identified.’” (firm help center)
  • Automated strategies / trade copiers (complainants say they were banned for ‘coordinated trading’ while running a permitted bot or copier): “‘Automated trading systems and trade copiers are permitted. All automated activity must comply with Lucid Trading rules.’” (firm help center)
  • Exploiting sim mechanics / ‘Trade with Integrity’ (the catch-all behind fraud / anti-abuse closures): “‘Lucid Trading strictly prohibits the use of strategies that exploit platform mechanics or simulated market conditions … Taking advantage of system errors or update delays; Exploiting discrepancies in simulated prices; Using tactics that do not reflect real-world trading conditions’” (firm help center)
  • Move to live after 5 payouts (Reddit calls it a ‘soft ban’): “‘Traders enter the live review pool when … After receiving the final payout (Payout 5) on their plan … All live transitions occur at the discretion of the Lucid risk team.’ Live accounts begin with ‘$0 starting balance, Daily payouts, End-of-day drawdown, No daily loss limit’.” (firm help center)
  • Household / account limits (bans that follow a spouse’s or relative’s account): “‘Up to 5 active funded accounts per household or family.’ ‘Up to 10 active evaluation accounts per household or family.’” (firm help center)
  • Restricted countries (KYC rejections from listed countries): “‘If you are a citizen or resident of any of the countries listed below, you are not eligible to use Lucid Trading services’ (list includes Pakistan, Philippines, Nigeria, Kenya, Vietnam, Indonesia, Turkey, South Africa, Ukraine, Russia among ~80). India, Israel and the US are not on the list.” (firm help center)
  • News trading on LucidDaily: “‘Trading red folder news on the LucidDaily is a hard breach’ ; ‘Allowed on Flex, Pro and Direct’” (firm help center)
  • Trustpilot reviewers praise: fast payouts and quick approvals (AI summary: ‘extremely fast payouts, straightforward trading rules’; ‘got payouts on time’); simple rules and good pricing (‘Great pricing, rules arent impossible, decent payout timing’); clean dashboard / new app; contests paying traders (one 12-payout reviewer won $10,000)
  • Trustpilot reviewers complain about: accounts banned at or just before payout for ‘cross-trading’ / ‘coordinated trading’ / fraud with no evidence shown and ‘final’ decisions (Sept 24–29, 2026 reviews from IL, US, IN); KYC / identity-verification holds and rejections pausing accounts, notably Indian traders (‘the KYC process right now is a complete mess’); trailing drawdown counting unrealised profit; household-linked ban after a spouse’s account was closed

Every Reddit claim about Lucid Trading we checked against the firm’s own pages:

  • Reddit is right: Reddit says, “‘Payouts are insanely fast’ / ‘paid in minutes’ (r/Daytrading, Mar 2026; r/PropFirmTester, Mar 2026 ‘Received Money in 1 Minute’; several $20K–$60K authors who posted payout proof)”. The firm publishes: ‘Once approved: Funds will be deducted from your account within a few minutes. Payouts will be disbursed to your payment method within 2 business days.’ Payout Methods: ‘Plaid; Instant bank transfers for U.S.-based traders’.
  • Reddit is right: Reddit says, “‘No consistency rule, no buffer requirement’ on LucidFlex (r/Daytrading, Mar 2026)”. The firm publishes: ‘There is no buffer balance that must be maintained in LucidFlex funded accounts.’ Funded article: ‘There is no Consistency Percentage on LucidFlex funded accounts.’ Cards still show ‘Consistency 50%’ in the evaluation.
  • Reddit is right: Reddit says, “’$2K max per payout cycle … 5 payouts and you move to LucidLive’ (50K Flex, Mar 2026)”. The firm publishes: ‘50% of Profit up to $2,000’ (50K); ‘Traders may take up to 5 payouts from each LucidFlex account after which they will be moved live.’ New Live Structure: live transitions ‘occur at the discretion of the Lucid risk team’.
  • Reddit is stale: Reddit says, “‘LucidFlex 50K one-time fee around $65-91 depending on coupon’ (Mar 2026) and ‘84 bucks for a 50k flex’ with 40% code (May 2026)”. The firm publishes: Card September 29, 2026 (50K per prior 09-27 read; 25K/100K re-read today): 25K $89 → $65.30 / $50.30 (DLL ON) with VAULT; 100K $293 → $215.60 / $170.60; config LucidFlex discountPct 30.
  • Reddit is split: Reddit says, “Accounts permanently banned at payout for AML / KYC / ‘coordinated’ or cross-account trading with no proof (r/PropFirmTester, Mar 2026, r/Daytrading, Sep 2026, and r/LucidProp, Aug 2026, r/LucidProp, r/LucidProp, r/PropFirmTester, Sep 2026)”. The firm publishes: Hedging: ‘strictly prohibits all forms of hedging, including … Hedging between different users’ accounts’; ‘After repeated offenses all involved accounts will be breached and you may be permanently restricted’. Trade with Integrity prohibits ‘tactics that do not reflect real-world trading conditions’. Firm reply on Reddit: ‘our financial provider was unable to proceed with the payment due to AML concerns. Trader was refunded.’ No published appeal process for hedging/fraud closures (microscalping and HFT pages do mention appeals).
  • Can’t be verified: Reddit says, “KYC SMS failure for an Armenian number led to a ban; commenters dispute whether Armenia is restricted (r/Daytrading, Sep 2026)”. The firm publishes: Restricted Countries list (read September 29, 2026) does not include Armenia; it lists ~80 countries incl. Pakistan, Philippines, Nigeria, Vietnam, Indonesia, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia.
  • Reddit is stale: Reddit says, “‘They claim to have end of the day, EOD, that does not exist’ (r/PropFirmTester, Mar 2026)”. The firm publishes: LucidFlex/LucidPro cards: ‘Drawdown Type EOD’; LucidDaily funded accounts always use intraday trailing drawdown (‘Regardless of your selection, all LucidDaily Funded accounts use an Intraday Drawdown’ , ). EOD plans still enforce the optional Daily Loss Limit intraday.
  • Reddit is split: Reddit says, “‘Lucid stole my payout’; five LucidDaily accounts paused and moved to live before a first payout after a $10K+ day (r/PropFirmTester, Sep 2026); ‘moved to live’ timing complaints (r/PropFirmTester, Jul 2026)”. The firm publishes: LucidDaily Payouts: ‘there is a maximum amount of sim profit that can be earned in a day. If you meet or exceed the daily amount you are automatically moved live’ ($6,000 25K / $8,000 50K / $10,000 100K / $12,000 150K). New Live Structure: ‘All live transitions occur at the discretion of the Lucid risk team.’

Take Profit Trader is a best prop firm on Reddit for day-one payouts, and the payout record agrees

Tally: 31 recommenders (19 threads), 31 paid, 8 warning threads.

Top positive: “I joined TPT in the beginning of January and now moving into February I got my first payout ever!” (r/TakeProfitTrader, Feb 9, 2026). Top negative: “TakeProfitTrader took all my money and said I was “spoofing” 100k in profits gone” (r/Daytrading, Apr 14, 2026).

Another voice in the same window: “I joined TPT in the beginning of January and now moving into February I got my first payout ever!” (r/TakeProfitTrader, Feb 9, 2026).

Video: “Nearly Instant Account-to-Wallet Withdrawals: James Breaks Down New Speed of Payout Improvement,” Take Profit Trader official YouTube channel, July 24, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: TPT’s own explainer of its July 2026 payout-speed change, the thing Reddit argues about.

Firm publishes: The PRO withdrawal rules: withdrawals from day one above the buffer ($52,000 on 50K), no consistency rule, no cap, 80/20 on simulated PRO. The drawdown trails intraday on peak balance, and a move to live PRO+ (90/10, at TPT’s discretion) freezes $5,000 of PRO profit. After a risk review TPT can also place a trader in PRO+ Development, a reduced-size tier it assigns, not a plan you buy: a downgrade risk.

Reddit is right. Day-one withdrawals and the drawdown complaint both match the rules. More: TPT payouts.

Best for: daily no-cap payouts from day one of PRO. You can survive an intraday trailing drawdown long enough to bank the buffer and want same-day withdrawals with no consistency rule or payout cap.

What a trader actually pays and waits for at Take Profit Trader:

  • What you pay: A $25K account runs $150/month list; $90/month with code NOFEE40 (40% off for life + $130 PRO activation waived; firm FAQ arithmetic, no end date). A $100K-class account runs $330/month list; $198/month with NOFEE40.
  • First payout needs: Day one of PRO once balance exceeds start + max drawdown buffer (50K → $52,000); no minimum days, no consistency rule; flat with no working orders at request
  • Payout frequency: daily / on demand
  • Payout method: Plaid (US banks), PayPal, Wise; Tradovate PRO account-to-wallet automated 5–10 s

Rules Reddit complains about at Take Profit Trader:

  • PRO intraday trailing drawdown: “The Tra
