We checked the platforms 18 prop firms list, sell at checkout and keep through the funded stage, product by product, dated October 4, 2026. MT5 is the most-sold forex platform (11 firms) but only 2 admit US residents to it; TradeLocker (6 sellers) and Match-Trader (5) are open to US buyers at every firm that sells them, and none of the 9 cTrader sellers confirms it for new US buyers. Only 3 firms still sell MT4 out of 6 that name it, and 7 firms advertise TradingView but only embed its charts; 9 sell a real TradingView login. For futures, Quantower is the most widely sold front end (7 firms), ahead of Tradovate and NinjaTrader (5 each). Ranked by cost per $1,000 of loss room at $50K, AquaFunded 2 Step Elite leads at $44.32 (activation not published), Topstep is the cheapest futures route at $47.50 for a month, and E8 Pro is the cheapest forex product with every fee published, at $49.60; Apex Trader Funding has the widest futures menu and the highest cost at $359.50.

Freshness: checked October 2, 2026, with checkout platform pickers and prices re-read October 4, 2026. Firms change platforms without notice (one firm here changed three in the last 90 days); re-check before you buy. Best trading platform for prop firms, the quick answer by what you trade

The best trading platform for a prop firm account is the one the firm sells for your product today and keeps when you are funded, in a market you can legally trade from where you live. That depends far more on what you trade and where you live than on the platform itself.

  • Forex outside the US: MT5, sold by 11 of 18 firms. Cheapest verified route AquaFunded 2 Step Elite at $44.32 per $1,000 (activation not published); FTMO keeps MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView through every stage.
  • Forex from the US: TradeLocker or Match-Trader. Every seller admits US residents to both; E8 Pro on TradeLocker is $49.60 with every fee published. MT5 only through FTMO US or Darwinex Zero.
  • Futures: Topstep’s TopstepX is the cheapest route at $47.50 for a month; for Tradovate, NinjaTrader or Rithmic, Tradeify Growth 50K at $72.50 one-time.
  • TradingView traders: 9 firms sell a real login; FTMO 1-Step is the cheapest verified one at $71.62. Seven more only show TradingView charts inside their own terminal.

Asked for the single #1 trading platform, the honest answer is that MT5 is the most common among the firms we checked and Quantower is the most widely sold futures front end, but neither is the right pick if your firm does not keep it through the funded stage. For the software itself, our MT4 vs MT5 vs cTrader vs TradeLocker comparison covers the feature differences, and the prop firm platform finder filters firms by platform.

Prop firm trading platforms compared, listed vs sold vs kept

Each row counts the 18 firms in this guide. Listed means the firm’s own pages name the platform. Sold means its checkout, or a help article about credentials issued after purchase, offers it for a current product. Kept means a firm page says, or the account rules clearly imply, that the funded or payout stage runs on it. The cheapest route is the lowest cost per $1,000 of loss room among products that keep the platform.

Quantower and WealthCharts are also counted inside the Rithmic family where a firm offers them on Rithmic.

Prop firms ranked by trading platform choice and cost per $1,000

One product per firm, the one with the lowest cost per $1,000 of loss room among products that keep at least one platform through the funded stage: (list price + activation fee) / overall max-loss limit in dollars x 1,000, at $50K. Ties go to the product that keeps more platforms. Codes never set a ranking figure. If you only want the $50,000 price, the ranked products run from $145 one-time (Tradeify) or $95 a month (Topstep) to $719 with activation (Apex); our funded trading accounts guide ranks them by first-month cash instead.

Hola Prime and FunderPro tie at $63.80; Hola Prime ranks first because it keeps four platforms to FunderPro’s one on the ranked product. FTMO is €319 at the ECB rate of 1.1225. Darwinex Zero is a $50 monthly subscription with no loss floor, shown unnumbered.

How we checked which platforms prop firms actually sell

How we checked prop firm trading platforms: five checks built from each firm's own checkout, help and rules pages

cTrader sellers open to US
  1. Sources: each firm’s own checkout platform picker (read from a US connection), platform help articles, product cards and terms, read October 2, 2026 and re-read October 4, 2026. Platform vendors’ firm directories and competing roundups are leads only.
  2. Per product, per stage: a platform counts as kept only when it is sold for that product and a firm page names, or clearly implies, the funded or payout stage on it.
  3. US access: a yes needs the firm’s own sentence admitting US residents to that platform plus a US checkout offering it. Silence is not a yes, and losing one platform is not a firm-wide ban.
  4. Cost: list price plus activation fee and any platform add-on, divided by the overall loss limit in dollars at its smallest stage, at $50K.
  5. Dated changes: platforms removed, migrated or restored in the last 90 days are named with their dates, and forex and futures arms of one brand are separate listings.

A discretionary live call-up is named as the first watch-out in a firm’s block, never as a reason to drop it from the ranking. Spreads and commissions differ by platform at some firms; our lowest spreads and commissions guide covers them.

What a prop firm trading platform is, and how it differs from a broker account

A prop firm sells you an evaluation: you trade a simulated account under its rules, and if you pass, you trade a funded account (simulated at almost every firm here) that pays you a share of profits. The trading platform is the software you place those trades in. The firm, not you, picks which platforms it licenses, which data feed sits behind them, and whether the platform you pass on is the one you are paid on.

That is the difference from a retail broker account, where you choose a platform and the broker supports it for as long as you hold the account. At a prop firm the platform is part of the product. A forex firm usually rents a white-label MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker, Match-Trader or DXtrade server. A futures firm sells you an account on a data feed (CQG through Tradovate, or Rithmic, or dxFeed) and then lets you connect front ends to it, which is why a futures firm can list a dozen platforms on one account.

The evaluation itself (one-step or two-step, targets, loss limits) is covered in our beginners guide and one-step firms guide. Profit splits and payout histories are in our highest payouts guide, and growth plans in our scaling plans guide. This guide stays on platforms.

Forex and CFD prop firm trading platforms, platform by platform

Eleven of the 18 firms are forex and CFD firms. Six forex platforms appear across them, and the gap between listed and kept is widest here.

MT5 is the most-sold prop firm platform but the hardest for US traders

MetaTrader 5 is listed and sold by 11 of the 18 firms and kept through the funded stage at 10; E8 Markets sells it for the E8 Pro challenge without naming the funded platform. No firm charges extra for it. Only 2 sellers admit US residents (Darwinex Zero, and FTMO through FTMO US); E8 Markets and Hola Prime send mixed signals, AquaFunded does not say, and the other six keep MT5 for non-US buyers. FunderPro advertises it firm-wide but sells it only on the Instant account. Cheapest verified route: AquaFunded 2 Step Elite at $44.32 per $1,000 (activation not published). Full firm-by-firm detail is in our prop firms that use MT5 guide.

MT4 is listed by six prop firms and sold by three

MT4 is the clearest case of a platform outliving its sales: 6 firms still name it somewhere, but only Darwinex Zero, FTMO and FundedNext sell it today. Alpha Capital Group’s MT4 appears only on third-party lists, FXIFY’s in an old FAQ, and Hola Prime’s in page metadata. Darwinex Zero is the only MT4 seller that admits US residents. Cheapest verified route: FundedNext Stellar Lite at $57.50 per $1,000 (activation not published). More in our prop firms that use MT4 guide.

cTrader is sold by nine prop firms, none confirmed for new US buyers

cTrader is sold and kept by 9 firms, and three charge for it: The5ers adds $10, AquaFunded $15 and FundedNext $25 outside the US. Not one of the nine admits new US residents; Alpha Capital Group, FundedNext and The5ers have each closed it to them, FundedNext from March 31, 2026. Cheapest verified route: AquaFunded 2 Step Elite with the $15 add-on, $47.32 per $1,000 (activation not published); E8 Pro is $49.60 with every fee published. More in our prop firms that use cTrader guide.

TradeLocker is the prop firm platform US forex traders can actually buy

TradeLocker is sold and kept by 6 firms, every one of which admits US residents to it, with no add-on anywhere. It has become the default US route: Goat Funded Trader’s checkout moves US buyers onto it automatically, and FunderPro sells its challenges on nothing else. Cheapest verified route: AquaFunded 2 Step Elite at $44.32 per $1,000 (activation not published), or E8 Pro at $49.60 with every fee published. More in our prop firms that use TradeLocker guide.

Match-Trader is the second US-friendly prop firm platform

Match-Trader is sold and kept by 5 firms (AquaFunded, E8 Markets on E8 One only, FundedNext, Goat Funded Trader and Hola Prime), all of which admit US residents. FundedNext charges $25 for it outside the US and nothing inside it, where it is the only platform US clients can buy. Cheapest verified route: AquaFunded 2 Step Elite at $44.32 per $1,000 (activation not published).

DXtrade is down to two prop firms that sell it to payout

DXtrade is sold and kept by 2 firms here, Alpha Capital Group and FXIFY; Hola Prime still names it in page metadata without selling it. It is the platform firms have been leaving: FTMO, Blueberry Funded and Breakout all dropped it in 2026 (dates in the removals table below). Alpha Capital Group admits US residents to it; FXIFY’s footer conflicts with its checkout. Cheapest verified route: Alpha Capital Group Alpha Pro 10% at $53.40 per $1,000. More in our prop firms that use DXtrade guide.

Futures prop firm trading platforms, platform by platform

Seven of the 18 firms are futures firms. Every one of them admits US residents to every platform it sells, so the questions here are which data feed the account sits on and what that feed lets you connect.

Tradovate is sold by five futures prop firms and dropped by one

Tradovate is sold and kept by 5 firms: Apex Trader Funding, Lucid Trading, MyFundedFutures, TradeDay and Tradeify. Alpha Futures removed it on July 12, 2026, and Topstep does not offer it. It runs on CQG data, and it is the route that carries NinjaTrader and TradingView at most futures firms. Level 1 data is free once you sign the non-professional agreement. Cheapest verified route: Tradeify Growth 50K at $72.50 per $1,000. More in our prop firms that use Tradovate guide; outages are tracked on our Tradovate status page.

NinjaTrader runs on the Tradovate route at five prop firms

NinjaTrader is sold and kept by the same 5 firms as Tradovate, because at all five it connects with Tradovate credentials; Apex also connects it to Rithmic. TradeDay supplies a free NinjaTrader 8 build on CQG and does not support NinjaTrader Desktop on Rithmic. Most firms publish no licence price for the evaluation; Apex requires a paid licence key for its trade copier and a live licence at your own expense after a call-up. Cheapest verified route: Tradeify Growth 50K at $72.50 per $1,000. More in our prop firms that use NinjaTrader guide.

The Rithmic family is sold by four prop firms with up to 12 front ends

Rithmic accounts come with R|Trader Pro and connect to third-party front ends: Apex lists ten, TradeDay twelve, Lucid Trading eight and Tradeify three. All 4 firms keep the Rithmic account through funded. The catch is the extras: Apex charges $10 per exchange (or $30 for all) for market depth and $30 a month for a second login, and Rithmic needs Windows. Cheapest verified route: Tradeify Growth 50K at $72.50 per $1,000. Rithmic outages are tracked on our Rithmic status page.

Quantower is the most widely sold futures front end at prop firms

Quantower is sold by 7 of the 7 futures firms, on three different feeds: Rithmic at Apex, Lucid Trading, TradeDay and Tradeify; dxFeed at Alpha Futures and MyFundedFutures; TopstepX credentials at Topstep, where it stops at the Express Funded Account. Alpha Futures describes it as free to start with paid pro features; Topstep includes a premium feature bundle but says Level 2 data ($38 a month) is needed for full access. Cheapest verified route: Topstep 50K Combine at $47.50 for one month.

WealthCharts is a web-based prop firm platform at four futures firms

WealthCharts is sold and kept by 4 firms: Alpha Futures, Apex Trader Funding, Tradeify and TradeDay (on its Rithmic family). At Apex and Tradeify it is a separate account type, so a WealthCharts evaluation becomes a WealthCharts funded account and nothing else. No firm charges extra for it. Cheapest verified route: Alpha Futures Standard 50K at $64.50 for one month.

In-house prop firm platforms, from TopstepX to The5ers’ web terminal

Four firms sell a terminal of their own and keep it to payout: TopstepX at Topstep (built on the ProjectX engine; our TopstepX platform guide covers its features), E8 Terminal at E8 Markets (whose help pages list it for perpetual futures only), The5ers’ TradingView-charted web terminal, and AlphaTrader at Alpha Futures since July 12, 2026. Alpha Capital Group’s Alpha Trader and MyFundedFutures’ Fintevo are shown as coming soon and cannot be bought. ProjectX itself now runs only as TopstepX; our ProjectX guide tracks where its former firms moved. Cheapest verified route: Topstep at $47.50 for one month.

TradingView at prop firms, a real login vs embedded charts

TradingView is the platform name most often misused in prop firm marketing. 7 firms here (Alpha Capital Group, AquaFunded, FunderPro, Goat Funded Trader, Hola Prime, The5ers and Topstep) put TradingView’s chart library inside their own terminal or inside TradeLocker or Match-Trader. That gives you TradingView-style charts, but you cannot log in to TradingView.com with the account, use its trading panel or keep your saved layouts. Topstep says so directly: the account cannot connect to external platforms like TradingView.

A real login means picking a broker inside TradingView’s trading panel and signing in with the firm’s credentials. 9 firms sell one: Darwinex Zero (Darwinex), FTMO (OANDA), FXIFY (Alchemy Markets), Alpha Futures (Plus500, since September 4, 2026) and five futures firms through Tradovate, where it works on the Tradovate route only. FundedNext names TradingView but has paused trading on it. A paid TradingView plan matters at some firms: Tradeify and Apex say the free plan updates charts only every 5 seconds, TradeDay says you need your own TradingView license, and Darwinex Zero says a free account is enough. More in our prop firms that use TradingView guide.

Platforms prop firms list but do not sell

Prop firm trading platforms funnel: platforms listed, fewer sold at checkout, fewer still kept when funded
Listed is the widest count, sold is narrower, and kept when funded is narrower still.

A platform on a firm’s homepage, in an old FAQ or in a directory tag is not a platform you can buy. These are the cases where the gap is widest:

  • MT4 at Alpha Capital Group, FXIFY and Hola Prime: named by third-party lists, an FAQ and page metadata respectively; no product card or checkout sells it.
  • MT5 and cTrader at FunderPro: advertised firm-wide and still carried in the products feed, but every challenge checkout offers TradeLocker only; MT5 and cTrader sell on the Instant account alone.
  • Six platforms at Hola Prime: the platforms page says six and shows four (MT5, cTrader, Match-Trader, TradeLocker); MT4 and DXtrade linger in its metadata.
