We classified every challenge from 17 prop firms into its true type, 1-Step, 2-Step/Multi-Step, 3-Step or Instant/No-Challenge, by its own phase-by-phase profit-target table, not by the firm’s marketing name, then ranked each type’s products by cost per $1,000 of loss room on the list price at $50K. Blue Guardian’s 2 Step Nano is the cheapest challenge across this entire post at $25.40 per $1,000. Among single-phase products, DayTraders.com’s Trail is the cheapest 1-Step at $30.00 per $1,000. Among instant, no-evaluation accounts, FundingPips Zero is the cheapest at $97.60 per $1,000, still more than three times the cheapest 1-Step rate. Two firms’ marketing names do not match their own rules: Bulenox markets Momentum as near-instant and Tradeify markets Growth as a two-step equivalent, but both firms’ own phase tables show a single evaluation phase, so both rank as 1-Step here.

Quick picks for best prop firm challenges by type
- Best 1-Step: DayTraders.com Trail, $30.00 per $1,000 of loss room, $70 list price.
- Best 2-Step: Blue Guardian 2 Step Nano, $25.40 per $1,000, $127 list price, the cheapest challenge in this entire post.
- Best instant funding: FundingPips Zero, $97.60 per $1,000, $244 list price.
- Cheapest overall, any type: Blue Guardian 2 Step Nano at $25.40 per $1,000.
- Fee refunded on a pass: FTMO’s 2-Step Standard, the only product here whose fee comes back in full with the first Reward.
A quick warning on labels: a firm’s own marketing name for a product is not always its true challenge type. Bulenox’s Momentum and Tradeify’s Growth both carry names suggesting instant or two-step structures; both firms’ own phase-by-phase rules show a single evaluation phase, so this post ranks both as 1-Step. See the labels section below for the exact quotes.
The three prop firm challenge types explained
A “challenge” is an evaluation a trader pays to attempt: clear a published profit target (or targets) inside a published loss limit, and the firm funds a live or simulated account in your name. The fee largely funds the firm’s own risk pool for traders who do get funded, since most challenge attempts never reach that stage. Every firm in this post sells at least one of these three shapes, classified here by the number of sequential, dollar-denominated profit-target phases a product requires before an account becomes funded, not by what the firm calls it:
- 1-Step: one evaluation phase with one profit target; clear it and the account becomes funded or sim-funded. Typical total profit required: 6 to 10% of account size.
- 2-Step/Multi-Step: two or more sequential phases, each with its own profit target, usually smaller in the later phase(s); clear every phase in order to reach funded. Typical total profit required across all phases: 12 to 15% of account size.
- Instant/No-Challenge: no evaluation phase at all; the account is funded or sim-funded from the moment of purchase. Total profit target to reach funded is $0 by definition, though a separate profit goal commonly gates the FIRST PAYOUT.
Worked example, the same $50,000 at each type: a 1-Step product requiring 6% needs $3,000 in verified profit; a 2-Step product requiring 8% then 5% needs $4,000 plus $2,500, or $6,500 cumulative; an instant account needs $0 to be funded, but FundingPips Zero (this post’s cheapest instant product) still requires 7 profitable days in a rolling 30-day period just to keep the account active, and most instant products gate the first payout behind a separate profit goal measured in the hundreds or low thousands of dollars.
Which challenge type should you buy
1-Step suits a trader who wants the fastest single pass to a funded account and can prove 6 to 10% profit in one evaluation; this post’s 1-Step products range from $30.00 to $126.33 per $1,000 of loss room, with a $1,500 to $5,000 floor depending on the firm.
2-Step/Multi-Step suits a trader who wants a lower cost per dollar of risk and is comfortable clearing two sequential targets; this post’s 2-Step products range from $25.40 to $83.00 per $1,000, generally cheaper than 1-Step on the same metric because the firm gets two separate looks at consistent performance before funding, with a $3,000 to $5,000 floor.
Instant/No-Challenge suits a trader who values speed over cost and is confident without a practice phase; this post’s instant products range from $97.60 to $499.99 per $1,000, three to six times the cheapest evaluation rate from the same firm where both are sold, with a narrower $1,200 to $4,000 floor in most cases.
How we checked these prop firm challenges

- Sources: each firm’s own pricing page, checkout and rules/FAQ articles, read October 3, 2026; never a competing roundup or affiliate comparison page.
- Classify first: every product is sorted into 1-Step, 2-Step/Multi-Step, 3-Step or Instant/No-Challenge by its own phase-by-phase profit-target table, never by its marketing name.
- Price every variant: every $50K plan a firm sells (6%/8%/10% max-loss tabs, Lite vs standard, Flex vs Pro) is priced and the metric computed for each; the firm’s metric-best product in that type is the one ranked.
- Compute the metric: cost per $1,000 of loss room is the list price (plus any activation fee) divided by the overall max-loss floor in dollars at the smallest stage, times 1,000, never a daily loss limit or minimum-balance figure.
- Arms: a forex/CFD arm and a futures arm of the same brand are separate listings; a finding on one never applies to the other.
A discretionary live call-up is named as the first watch-out in every firm whose listing has one; it is a fact to weigh, never a reason to rank a product lower. None of this post’s top-ranked products in any of the three tables carries a non-declinable call-up at the very top spot.

Notes on this ranking: † FTMO prices euros; converted to USD at the European Central Bank reference rate of October 2, 2026 (EUR/USD 1.1225). ‡ Apex Trader Funding’s Intraday Trail and FXIFY’s One Phase product both carry an intraday-trailing floor (the loss ceiling trails your highest balance including unrealized profit, in real time, not just at end of day), harder to hold than an EOD or static floor at the same dollar size; DayTraders’ Trail product carries the same mechanic. * Bulenox markets Momentum as an instant-funding shortcut and Tradeify markets Growth as a two-step equivalent; both firms’ own phase tables show a single profit-target phase before funded, so both rank here as 1-Step products, not where their marketing name implies.
Best 2-Step and multi-step prop firm challenges, checked October 3, 2026
| Rank and firm/product | Phases and targets | Max-loss floor | Price at $50K | Cost per $1,000 | Payout cadence | Live stage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Blue Guardian Blue Guardian 2 Step Nano§ | $6,500 total (2-phase) | $5,000 Static | $127.00 one-time | $25.40 | Every 14 days | No live call-up stage |
| 2. Alpha Capital Group Alpha Pro 10% $50K (On-Demand)§ | $7,500 total (2-phase) | $5,000 Static | $267.00 one-time | $53.40 | On-demand or bi-weekly | Call-up, can decline |
| 3. FundedNext Stellar 2-Step $50K§ | $6,500 total (2-phase) | $5,000 Static | $299.99 one-time | $60.00 | First Reward day 21, then biweekly | No live call-up stage |

| 5. FXIFY Two Phase Classic (2-Step, static)§ | $7,500 total (2-phase) | $5,000 Static | $379 one-time | $75.80 | Every 14 or 30 days, no on-demand | No live call-up stage |
| 6. FTMO FTMO Challenge: 2-Step Standard† | $7,500 total (2-phase) | $5,000 Static | €345 one-time | $77.45 | On request from day 14 | No live call-up stage |
| 7. AquaFunded 2 Step Standard (storefront name '2 Step Challenge') | $6,500 total (2-phase) | $4,000 Static | $317.00 one-time | $79.25 | 14 days after funding, then biweekly | No live call-up stage |
| 8. FundingPips FundingPips 2 Step Pro§ | $6,000 total (2-phase) | $3,000 Static | $249 one-time | $83.00 | Weekly (80%) or monthly (100%) | No live call-up stage |
Notes on this ranking: § Blue Guardian, Alpha Capital Group, FundedNext, FXIFY and FundingPips all pair a static overall floor with a separate hard daily loss limit that ends the account on breach even though headroom remains in the overall floor; this is a published fact of the product, not a reason to drop it from the ranking (per the standing rule, a hard daily loss limit on a forex/CFD 2-Step is a fact shown in the table, never a fail). † FTMO prices euros; converted to USD at the ECB reference rate of October 2, 2026 (EUR/USD 1.1225). At a 1% stronger euro the 2-Step list price would be about $391 instead of $387.26, which does not change FTMO’s rank (its nearest neighbor, AquaFunded at $79.25, needs the euro to move more than 2% to swap places).

Notes on this ranking: ‡ FundingPips Zero, Alpha Direct, AquaFutures Instant, FXIFY Instant Funding Standard and FundedNext Stellar Instant all carry an intraday-trailing floor, harder to hold than the EOD-trailing floors on DayTraders S2F, Top One Futures IGNITE, Tradeify Lightning and Purdia’s instant product. Every instant product in this table shows a $0 profit target to reach a funded account by definition; several still gate the FIRST PAYOUT behind a published profit goal, named in each firm’s block below.
Every firm’s prop firm challenges, firm by firm

Alpha Capital Group sells only 2-Step and Instant challenges, no 1-Step
Alpha Capital Group skips 1-Step entirely: its CFD line is three static-floor 2-Step tabs (6%, 8%, 10% max loss) plus Alpha Direct, a genuine Instant/No-Challenge account with no profit target. Alpha Pro 10% is the firm’s own cheapest 2-Step product on this post’s metric at $53.40 per $1,000 of loss room, with a $5,000 static floor across both phases ($7,500 total profit target, 15% of size).
Alpha Direct looks like the cheap shortcut at $257 versus Pro 10%’s $267, but its floor is a trailing $2,500, half of Pro 10%’s static $5,000, which pushes its real cost to $102.80 per $1,000, the worst value of the firm’s four $50K products.
- Challenge types sold: 2-Step/Multi-Step (Pro 6%/8%/10%), Instant/No-Challenge (Alpha Direct)
- Cheapest on our metric: Alpha Pro 10%, $53.40 per $1,000
- Floor type: Static $5,000 at both phases (Pro line); trailing $2,500 on Alpha Direct
- Payout: On-Demand once gates are met, or bi-weekly
- Live stage: Discretionary Alpha Prime call-up, can decline, triggers at $40,000 on one payout, five payouts, or $100,000 lifetime
- Best for: A static, never-trailing floor across two phases at the best cost per $1,000 this firm sells.
- Watch out for: The call-up is the same across every Alpha Capital product and is a warning, not a reason to avoid any of them; Alpha Direct’s lower sticker trades away floor size, not just speed.
- Trustpilot: rating hidden (“breach of our guidelines” banner), 21,810 reviews, read October 1, 2026. Alpha Capital Group profile, payouts, status.
Apex Trader Funding’s cheapest-on-paper SKU carries an intraday-trailing floor
Apex sells four variants of one 1-Step evaluation, split by activation-fee timing (Standard vs No Activation Fee) and floor type (EOD vs Intraday). The EOD Trail Standard SKU is the firm’s metric-best non-flagged product at $359.50 per $1,000 of loss room ($590 list + $129 activation); the Intraday Trail Standard SKU looks far cheaper at $174.00 per $1,000 ($249 + $99), but its floor trails your highest balance in real time, including unrealized profit, which this table marks rather than hides.
- Challenge types sold: 1-Step only (EOD Trail, Intraday Trail; each in Standard and No Activation Fee fee modes)
- Cheapest on our metric: 50K EOD Trail Standard, $359.50 per $1,000 (list + activation)
- Floor type: $2,000 EOD trailing (EOD SKUs); $2,000 intraday trailing (Intraday SKUs)
- Payout: Up to weekly
- Live stage: Discretionary, non-declinable; forfeits the tracked sim/Bonus Vault balance unless the trader pays a flat $3,000
- Best for: A single-phase futures evaluation with the lower-risk EOD-trailing floor, accepting a dearer sticker for that safety.
- Watch out for: The Intraday Trail SKU’s cheaper sticker buys a floor type this post’s marks call out as harder to hold, not just a faster pass.
- Trustpilot: 4.2/5 on 21,181 reviews, read October 2, 2026. Apex Trader Funding profile, rules, payouts.
AquaFunded prices its forex 2-Step and futures Instant arms as two separate products
AquaFunded sells a static-floor 2 Step Standard CFD challenge and a separate futures-side AquaFutures Instant account, priced and ranked on their own since the forex and futures arms of one brand are never blended on this post. 2 Step Standard is the cheaper of the two on this post’s metric at $79.25 per $1,000, with a $4,000 static floor across two phases ($6,500 total profit target).
AquaFutures Instant skips the evaluation phase entirely but its EOD-trailing floor is narrower at $2,000, pushing its cost to $226.67 per $1,000, nearly three times 2 Step Standard’s rate for the convenience of an immediate funded start.
- Challenge types sold: 2-Step/Multi-Step (CFD), Instant/No-Challenge (AquaFutures, futures)
- Cheapest on our metric: 2 Step Standard, $79.25 per $1,000
- Floor type: $4,000 static (2 Step Standard); $2,000 EOD trailing (AquaFutures Instant)
- Payout: First payout 14 days after first funded trade, then every 14 days (2 Step); on demand once a profit goal is met (AquaFutures)
- Live stage: No live call-up stage published for either product
- Best for: A static-floor 2-step entry if cost per dollar of risk matters more than speed; the Instant futures account if skipping the evaluation outright is worth the premium.
- Watch out for: 2 Step Standard’s static floor still checks against open-trade equity, so a losing position can breach it before you close it; AquaFutures Instant’s per-payout cap sits below its first profit goal.
- Trustpilot: rating hidden (“breach of our guidelines” banner), 1,199 reviews, read October 2, 2026. AquaFunded profile.
Blue Guardian’s 2 Step Nano is the cheapest challenge in this entire post
Blue Guardian sells only 2-Step CFD challenges, in a Standard and a cut-down Nano size; Nano is the cheapest product across all three tables in this post at $25.40 per $1,000 of loss room, a $127 list price against a $5,000 static floor spanning both phases ($6,500 total profit target).
That static floor is checked against equity, not just closed balance, and a separate 3% daily loss limit ends the account outright on breach, a hard daily-loss fact this post shows as a mark rather than a disqualifier for a forex/CFD 2-Step.
- Challenge types sold: 2-Step/Multi-Step only (Standard, Nano)
- Cheapest on our metric: 2 Step Nano, $25.40 per $1,000
- Floor type: $5,000 static, checked on equity including unrealized P&L
- Payout: Every 14 days
- Live stage: No live call-up stage; Blue Guardian pays directly from the sim-funded account
- Best for: The lowest one-time entry price into a genuine two-phase evaluation in this entire post, if a hard 3% daily loss ending the account outright is acceptable.
- Watch out for: The static floor breaches on open-trade equity before a losing trade even closes, and the 3% daily loss limit ends the account on breach with no grace period.
- Trustpilot: rating hidden (“breach of our guidelines” banner), 2,094 reviews, read September 30, 2026. Blue Guardian profile.
Bulenox’s Momentum is marketed as instant, but its own rules show a real evaluation phase
Bulenox’s Momentum account is pitched as a fast or near-instant path to funded, but its own Help Center articles show a $3,000 profit-target evaluation phase before the Momentum Master stage opens, the same shape as the firm’s standard Qualification product; this post classifies Momentum as 1-Step, not Instant, because its structure, not its marketing name, is what this post ranks on.
Momentum’s $0 activation fee makes it the cheaper of Bulenox’s two eligible products at $63.56 per $1,000 against the standard Qualification product’s $148 activation fee.
- Challenge types sold: 1-Step (both products, despite one marketing name suggesting otherwise)
- Cheapest on our metric: Momentum Qualification, $63.56 per $1,000
- Floor type: $2,250 EOD trailing (Option 2, the buyer must actively select it at checkout over the harder Option 1 intraday-trailing choice at the identical price)
- Payout: Same-day processing if submitted before 12:01 PM CT weekdays
- Live stage: Discretionary, can decline; fires after 3 successful payouts on an active Master account
- Best for: The lowest all-in cost to a funded sim account at Bulenox, with same-day payouts, provided the trader actively selects the EOD option at checkout.
- Watch out for: Option 1 (real-time intraday trailing including unrealized P&L) is sold at the exact same price as the EOD floor priced here; picking the wrong option at checkout buys the harder mechanic for free.
- Trustpilot: 4.7/5 on 1,800 reviews, read October 3, 2026. Bulenox profile, rules, status.
DayTraders.com sells four separate challenge shapes at four different prices
DayTraders.com runs the widest in-house spread in this post: Static, Trail and EOD are three different 1-Step evaluation floors at three different prices, plus S2F, a genuine Instant/No-Challenge account. Trail is the firm’s metric-best evaluation product at $30.00 per $1,000, the cheapest 1-Step rate in this entire post, on a $70 list price against a $2,500 intraday-trailing floor.
S2F skips the evaluation phase entirely at $342, but its EOD-trailing floor and higher price put it at $136.80 per $1,000, well above every evaluation product the firm sells.
- Challenge types sold: 1-Step (Static, Trail, EOD), Instant/No-Challenge (S2F)
- Cheapest on our metric: Trail, $30.00 per $1,000, the cheapest 1-Step rate in this post
- Floor type: $2,500 intraday trailing (Trail); $2,500 EOD trailing (S2F)
- Payout: On demand once the 8-qualifying-day Pro cycle is met
- Live stage: Discretionary, non-declinable (inferred from an absence of published decline terms)
- Best for: The single cheapest 1-Step rate in this whole comparison, if an intraday-trailing floor (harder to hold than EOD or static) is acceptable.
- Watch out for: Every DayTraders evaluation product carries a strict no-reset policy: a breach at any stage means a full repurchase, never a discounted reset.
- Trustpilot: 4.6/5 on 495 reviews, read October 1, 2026. DayTraders.com profile.
FTMO prices its challenges in euros, converted here at the ECB’s October 2 rate
FTMO’s CFD Challenge line runs both a 1-Step and 2-Step structure, priced in euros and converted to USD at the European Central Bank reference rate of October 2, 2026 (EUR/USD 1.1225): €319 becomes $358.08 for the 1-Step and €345 becomes $387.26 for the 2-Step. The 1-Step wins on raw cost at $71.62 per $1,000 against the 2-Step’s $77.45, both on a $5,000 static or EOD-trailing floor depending on which product.
The 1-Step’s fee is never refunded; the 2-Step’s slightly higher fee comes back in full with the first Reward, a trade-off this post’s metric does not capture on price alone.
- Challenge types sold: 1-Step, 2-Step/Multi-Step
- Cheapest on our metric: 1-Step Standard, $71.62 per $1,000 (converted)
- Floor type: $5,000 EOD trailing (1-Step); $5,000 static (2-Step)
- Payout: On request from day 14 after the first placed trade
- Live stage: No live call-up stage; FTMO pays directly from the funded account
- Best for: The fastest path to a single funded account with the better raw cost metric, if a non-refundable fee is acceptable; the 2-Step if a full fee refund on the first Reward matters more.
- Watch out for: The 1-Step’s lower sticker and better metric ignore that its fee never comes back, unlike the 2-Step’s fee which refunds in full.
- Trustpilot: 4.8/5 on 53,666 reviews, read October 2, 2026. FTMO profile.
FXIFY is the only firm in this post selling all four challenge types
FXIFY is the only firm here with a priced product in every challenge-type table this post builds: One Phase (1-Step), Two Phase Classic (2-Step), Three Phase (3-Step), and Instant Funding Standard. Two Phase Classic is the firm’s own cheapest product at $75.80 per $1,000 on a $379 list price against a $5,000 static floor spanning two phases ($7,500 total profit target).
Instant Funding Standard sits at the opposite extreme: $1,749 against a narrower $4,000 intraday-trailing floor puts it at $437.25 per $1,000, nearly six times Two Phase Classic’s rate, the steepest premium for skipping the evaluation of any firm in this post.
