We checked 19 forex prop firms on October 3, 2026 and ranked 17 products by what a beginner pays for each $1,000 of loss room at $50K: list price plus any activation fee, divided by the overall loss limit in dollars. Blue Guardian 2 Step Nano is cheapest at $25.40 ($127, $5,000 static floor), then AquaFunded 2 Step Elite $44.32, ThinkCapital Nexus $49.75, E8 Markets E8 Pro 10% $49.80 (news and weekends allowed, $0 activation stated) and FundingPips 2 Step Flex $49.83 ($6,000 floor). Every ranked product has a static floor except FTMO’s 1-Step, which trails only the end-of-day balance. Only The5ers and Darwinex Zero publish a 0.01-lot minimum. Maven Trading and Funded Trading Plus charge no swap; FXIFY and Goat Funded Trader offer no swap-free account. OneFunded is not ranked: its terms let it refuse funded status without reasons, and its own replies show it has. Darwinex Zero ($50 a month, no loss floor) sits in its own row.

Checked: October 3, 2026. Firms change prices, codes and rules without notice, so confirm on the firm’s own page before paying. Each Trustpilot figure shows its own read date.

Quick answer and quick picks among forex prop firms for beginners
Seventeen forex products pass our beginner test: a floor that does not follow your open profit, and rules you can read before paying. Ranked on what you pay for each $1,000 the account is allowed to lose, here is who leads each beginner need:
- Most forgiving floor: FundingPips 2 Step Flex, a 12% static floor ($6,000 at $50K) for $299, $49.83 per $1,000; funded positions close daily unless you buy Swing.
- Best for small sizing: The5ers High Stakes, the one challenge here that publishes a 0.01 minimum lot (with 0.01 steps), $249 at $50K.
- Swap-free: Maven Trading Standard 2-Step charges no swap on any account ($55.00 per $1,000); Funded Trading Plus does the same on its 2-Step Classic ($79.75).
- Fewest funded-stage surprises: E8 Markets E8 Pro 10%, news and weekends allowed at both stages, $0 activation stated, $49.80 per $1,000.
- Cheapest: Blue Guardian 2 Step Nano, $127 for a $5,000 static floor, $25.40 per $1,000 on the fee alone.
Eight of the top ten are ranked on the evaluation fee alone, because the firm does not say whether an activation fee follows a pass. A firm that states $0 in words (E8 Markets, Alpha Capital Group, FunderPro, BrightFunded, FTMO, FXIFY, Funded Trading Plus) gives you a firmer number. For the same checks across futures and every other asset class, see our broader prop firm guide for beginners.
Forex prop firm basics for beginners, lots, pips, leverage and swap
A forex prop firm sells you an evaluation on a simulated account. Pass its profit target without breaking its loss limits and you get a funded account, almost always also simulated, that pays you a share of profit. The rules that end beginners’ accounts are mostly mechanical, so it pays to know the units.
Lots and pips for a forex beginner
A standard forex lot is 100,000 units of the base currency; The5ers, BrightFunded, FXIFY and FTMO all publish that contract size. On EUR/USD one pip (0.0001) on a standard lot is worth $10, so 0.10 lots is $1 a pip and 0.01 lots, a micro lot, is $0.10 a pip. A firm that lets you trade 0.01 lots lets you risk a few dollars on a trade; a firm whose minimum is unpublished may still allow it, but you cannot check before paying.

A worked position size at $50K risking 0.5%
On a $50,000 account, risking 0.5% means $250 a trade. With a 25-pip stop on EUR/USD, $250 / (25 pips x $10) = 1.0 lot. With a 50-pip stop it is 0.5 lots, and with a 100-pip stop 0.25 lots. That $250 is a fifth of E8 Pro’s $1,250 daily limit and a twentieth of a $5,000 static floor, which is why small, fixed risk per trade is the habit every firm’s rules reward.
Leverage, spreads and commission at forex prop firms
Leverage sets how much margin a position ties up, not how much you can lose. Firms here range from 1:30 on forex (The5ers Bootcamp, City Traders Imperium, Darwinex Zero) to 1:100 (FTMO Standard, BrightFunded, FundingPips, AquaFunded in the evaluation). Funded Trading Plus gives its own example: 10 lots of EUR/USD at 1.05493 and 1:30 needs $35,164.33 of margin. ThinkCapital lowers leverage as your position grows, and FundingPips’ Swing add-on and FTMO’s Swing account both drop forex leverage to 1:30.
Commission per standard lot is published by most firms: $3 at BrightFunded, $4 round trip at The5ers, $5 round turn at FTMO and E8 Markets, $5 at AquaFunded and Goat Funded Trader, $7 per side on FundedNext’s Stellar Lite, $3 per side at Hola Prime, and none at ThinkCapital. Average spreads are rarely published; The5ers quotes majors “from 0.2 pips to 0.9 pips” in standard conditions. Our lowest spreads and commissions guide compares trading costs in depth.
Swap and swap-free forex accounts
Swap is the overnight financing charge or credit on a position held past rollover, usually tripled on Wednesdays for forex. FTMO’s own symbol data shows EUR/USD long at −8.79 points and short at +0.38 points per lot, so the side you hold matters. On firms that check the floor on equity, swap counts toward your loss limits. Swap-free accounts remove the charge; most firms here charge about 10% more for them (FundingPips about 20%, because it also requires Swing), two charge no swap at all, and some offer none.
Static and trailing loss floors, with a worked example
Take a $50,000 account with a 10% overall limit. On a static floor the account ends if equity touches $45,000, whatever happens first. Now say a trade runs to $1,500 of open profit and then comes back to breakeven. On a static floor nothing changes. On an end-of-day trailing floor (FTMO’s 1-Step) nothing changes either, because no day closed higher. On a floor that trails open profit the line rose to $46,500 at the peak and stays there, so the same trade cost you $1,500 of room without losing a cent. That is why products with such floors are left out of this ranking.
| Floor type | Line at start | After the round trip |
|---|---|---|
| Static 10% | $45,000 | $45,000; room left $5,000 |
| End-of-day trailing 10% | $45,000 | $45,000; no day closed higher |
| Trailing open profit 10% | $45,000 | $46,500; room left $3,500 |
How we checked forex prop firms for beginners

- Read each firm’s own rules pages, help articles, symbol sheets and checkout on October 3, 2026, product by product; forex and futures arms of one brand are separate listings.
- Pass a product only if its overall floor is static or trails the end-of-day balance at both stages, and its funded rules are published before purchase.
- Note the smallest lot, any lot cap, swap and swap-free terms, funded news and weekend rules, and platforms by country.
- Price every $50K variant at list price plus any activation fee, divide by the smallest overall floor in dollars, times 1,000; one product per firm, the cheapest that passes.
- Move a firm to the warning group only for a hard finding, such as a right to refuse funding that the firm has used.
A live call-up, where a firm moves a trader to a real-money account, is listed as a warning in each firm’s block and never changes a rank; FundingPips, Alpha Capital Group and City Traders Imperium have one. An unpublished minimum lot is a watch-out, not a pass. These products, sold by firms in this guide, failed the floor test:
| Firm and product | Why the floor fails | List price, floor |
|---|---|---|
| AquaFunded 2 Step Pro | 10% floor trails highest balance or equity, open profit included | $143.20, $5,000 |
| FundingPips Zero | 5% floor trails the highest equity reached | $244, $2,500 |
| Maven Trading Standard 1-Step | 5% floor trails the highest equity watermark | $170, $2,500 |
| Goat Funded Trader Instant HERO | 5% floor follows equity including open profit | $357, $2,500 |
| ThinkCapital Bolt | 6% floor trails peak equity including floating profit | $599, $3,000 |
| Funded Trading Plus Pay Now Pay Later | Funded floor trails equity until it locks at the start | $4 + $299, $3,000 |
Forex prop firms for beginners ranked by cost per $1,000 of loss room
Lower is better. The five columns between the firm and the cost are the mechanics competitor lists leave out: what floor you trade against, whether you can size small, what a night’s hold costs, and what changes once you are funded.

Notes on this ranking: Cost per $1,000 is the list price of the firm’s cheapest $50,000 forex product that passes the beginner floor test, plus any activation fee, divided by the smallest overall loss limit in dollars at any stage, times 1,000. Daily loss limits, per-symbol rules, per-position rules and minimum balances are never used. Codes and bundles are left out. Euro prices convert at the European Central Bank reference rate of October 2, 2026 (EUR/USD 1.1225). Ties share a rank. a The firm does not name an activation fee and does not say in words that there is none, so the figure is the evaluation fee alone. Blue Guardian: the 2 Step Nano checkout shows no after-pass fee line. A fee above $94.60 would drop it below AquaFunded. AquaFunded: its selector says “One-time fee • 100% refundable” and its articles go from pass to funded with no fee step. A fee above $27.15 would drop it below ThinkCapital. ThinkCapital: no activation line at checkout and none in its funded-acceptance steps. A fee above $0.20 would drop it below E8 Markets. FundingPips: no activation fee is published. A fee above $21.42 would drop it below Alpha Capital Group. Maven Trading: its terms say “There are no hidden fees or charges” and the checkout total equals the fee. A fee above $10.00 would drop it below FundedNext. FundedNext: its help pages rule out hidden and recurring fees only. A fee above $16.40 would drop it below Goat Funded Trader. Goat Funded Trader: the checkout total equals the fee and no activation step is published. A fee above $3.25 would drop it below The5ers. The5ers: its FAQ says there are “no hidden or recurring fees.” A fee above $6.20 would drop it below FunderPro. City Traders Imperium: its card says “One-time challenge fee, no monthly subscription.” A fee above $4.40 would drop it below BrightFunded. Hola Prime: no forex page names an activation fee; any fee keeps it second in its tie. b The5ers’ High Stakes size table shows an 8% overall loss ($4,000) at $50K, while its FAQ says 10% ($5,000). We rank on the tighter table figure; on the FAQ figure it would be $49.80, level with E8 Markets. Its Pro Growth 1-Step has no such conflict: $329 for a $3,000 static floor, $109.67. c Priced in euros. BrightFunded: €297 x 1.1225 = $333.38, so $333.38 / $5,000 x 1,000 = $66.68; a fall of about 1.3% in the euro would put it above City Traders Imperium. FTMO: €319 x 1.1225 = $358.08, so $71.62. d FTMO’s 1-Step floor trails the end-of-day balance (it never follows open profit), its fee is not refunded, and the 1-Step cannot be bought as a Swing account, so funded positions must close before the weekend. The 2-Step Challenge has a static floor and a refundable fee: €345 x 1.1225 = $387.26, which is $77.45 and would rank after FXIFY. e FunderPro and Hola Prime both cost $319 for a $5,000 static floor. FunderPro is listed first because its terms state there is no activation fee on its standard accounts. f Darwinex Zero has no maximum loss limit, so there is nothing to divide by. It charges $50 a month (€45 in Europe and the UK, about $50.51), and its join page says “all you pay is your membership.” TradingView is one of its three platform choices at the same price, not an add-on. g FXIFY’s site footer lists the United States as a restricted jurisdiction; its FAQ list and its terms do not. We follow the footer and treat it as open to non-US buyers only. Its activation fee is published as $0.
Prices, loss limits and payouts at forex prop firms for beginners
Same order as the ranking. The daily loss limit is shown because it ends accounts sooner than the overall floor, but it never enters the cost figure.

| FTMO 1-Step Challenge | €319 (about $358.08) | $0, stated | $5,000 end-of-day trail | 3%, $1,500 | 90%; from day 14, 50% best-day rule |
| FXIFY Two Phase Classic | $379 | $0, stated | $5,000 static | 4%, $2,000 | 80% every 14 days or 100% monthly |
| Funded Trading Plus 2-Step Classic | $319 | $0, stated | $4,000 static | 4% plus 3% per symbol | 80%; every 10 days, 50% consistency |
| Darwinex Zero subscription | $50 a month | $0, stated | None | None | 15% fee on allocations, quarterly |
Profit splits cluster at 80%, with 90% on FTMO’s 1-Step and AquaFunded and paid upgrades elsewhere. The first payout is where beginners meet extra conditions: E8 Markets releases only half your profit per request, Blue Guardian caps each cycle at 2% of the starting balance, The5ers caps High Stakes payouts at $3,000 at $50K, and Maven Trading caps any trader at $10,000 in 30 days. Several firms refund the fee later: The5ers 70% with the first High Stakes payout, FTMO’s 2-Step with the first reward, FunderPro after the first reward, ThinkCapital with the third payout and AquaFunded with the fourth. For the payout terms beginners trip on most often, see our guide to prop firm payout rules for beginners.
Forex prop firms for beginners with a hidden Trustpilot rating
Eleven of the 19 firms checked show no star rating on Trustpilot, only the banner “This company’s rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines,” often beside a note that fake reviews were removed. They are Alpha Capital Group (21,823 reviews), Maven Trading (5,209 reviews), Goat Funded Trader (4,343 reviews), E8 Markets (3,297 reviews), Funded Trading Plus (2,668 reviews), Blue Guardian (2,089 reviews), FunderPro (1,558 reviews), AquaFunded (1,199 reviews), ThinkCapital (612 reviews), BrightFunded (572 reviews) and OneFunded (157). That includes the cheapest product in this guide and seven of the top ten. A hidden rating does not change a rank here, and a firm’s own review badge is not a substitute: Goat Funded Trader’s checkout shows “4.2 (1021 reviews)” while its Trustpilot profile shows no score and 4,343 reviews. Of the visible ratings, FTMO shows 4.8 on 53,666 reviews and The5ers 4.7 on 39,082.
Blue Guardian 2 Step Nano costs forex beginners the least per $1,000 of loss room
Blue Guardian’s 2 Step Nano is the cheapest way in this guide to buy $5,000 of room to be wrong: $127 for a $50,000 account whose 10% floor is fixed from the starting balance at both the evaluation and the funded stage. Floating losses count against that line, but the line never climbs with your open profit.
$127 / $5,000 x 1,000 = $25.40 per $1,000 of loss room, against $44.32 for the next product. The figure is the evaluation fee alone, because Blue Guardian does not publish an activation fee for the Nano and does not say there is none. Its 2 Step Standard costs $232 for an 8% ($4,000) floor, $58.00 per $1,000.
The catch for a beginner is the funded stage. Nano payouts are capped at 2% of the starting balance per 14-day cycle ($1,000 at $50K), the best day must stay under 50% of total profit, and the 3% daily loss ($1,500) resets at 5 PM EST and can end the account on an open position. The only minimum-lot figure we found, 0.01 lots, comes from a help article about funded accounts waiting for allocation, not from a symbol table, and swap terms for the Nano are not published.

AquaFunded 2 Step Elite gives forex beginners a 10% static floor and no lot cap
AquaFunded says plainly that it does not cap lot size: “We do not monitor or restrict lot sizes, so you are free to choose your own position size and trading volume.” For a beginner that cuts both ways. Nothing stops a 0.01-lot trade, and nothing stops an oversized one either, apart from a rule against using more than 80% of margin on one position.
The 2 Step Elite lists at $221.60 for $50,000 with a 10% static floor ($5,000), so $221.60 / $5,000 x 1,000 = $44.32, fee alone. Its 2 Step Standard costs $239.20 for an 8% floor ($59.80), and its 1 Step Flex $279.20 for a 12% static floor ($46.53). Its cheaper 2 Step Pro at $143.20 is out: that floor trails your highest balance or equity, open profit included.
Once funded, Wave Stop applies: if your open trades together reach a 2% loss ($1,000 at $50K), every position is closed, the first time cuts your split to 50% and the second ends the account. News trading is allowed, but profit from trades within 5 minutes of red-folder or FOMC events is capped at 0.5% of the starting balance ($250) per payout cycle. Leverage drops from 1:100 on forex in the evaluation to 1:50 once funded.
