We checked product pages, checkouts and help centers at every forex/CFD prop firm we could find, named per product, and found MT4 live at checkout, at every stage through to the funded account, at exactly two sellers today: FundedNext’s Stellar Lite ($57.50 per $1,000 of loss room) and FTMO’s global Challenge: 1-Step (€319, about $71.62 per $1,000). Neither sells MT4 to US-based traders. Darwinex Zero also sells MT4 natively, but as a $50/month subscription with no published max-loss floor, not a funded challenge, so it is never blended into the cost ranking. FXIFY, Hola Prime and Lux Trading Firm all still have a page somewhere that names MT4, yet every one of their live checkouts sells only MT5, cTrader, DXTrade, TradeLocker or Match-Trader. Blueberry Funded sold MT4 until a dated firm migration moved every account to MT5 by April 25, 2026. Alpha Capital Group, Blue Guardian, E8 Markets, The5ers and five more firms we checked have never offered MT4 at all. Futures prop firms do not use MT4 anywhere in this market.

Freshness: checked October 3, 2026. Firms change prices and platform lists without notice; confirm current figures on the firm’s own checkout before paying. Each firm’s Trustpilot figure carries its own read date.

Quick picks for prop firms that use MT4
- Cheapest MT4 account: FundedNext Stellar Lite, $57.50 per $1,000 of loss room, native MT4 at evaluation and funded, not available to US-based clients.
- MT4 for US traders: Darwinex Zero’s $50/month subscription is the only live MT4 route a US-based trader can actually open; every MT4-selling challenge firm we checked (FTMO, FundedNext) excludes the US specifically.
- MT4 with EAs allowed: FTMO’s global Challenge, which permits Expert Advisors under its own forbidden-practices rule, with MT4 native at evaluation and funded.
- MT4 kept when funded: Both ranked products keep MT4 at the funded account with no forced platform change; FundedNext’s Stellar Lite is the cheaper of the two.
Why this list is short: most prop firms that once sold MT4 have moved to MT5, cTrader, DXtrade, TradeLocker or Match-Trader, and several firms whose own pages still mention MT4 do not sell it at checkout today. The sections below show every firm we checked, including the ones that fail the test, with the evidence rather than a silent omission.
MT4 vs MT5 for prop traders
MT4 and MT5 run the same underlying evaluation rules at nearly every firm in this post; the real difference is the ecosystem around each platform. MT4 carries a two-decade installed base of commercial MQL4 Expert Advisors, custom indicators and signal services built before MT5 existed, and some traders simply have working MQL4 code they do not want to rebuild. MT5 adds a native strategy tester, more order types, a built-in economic calendar and multi-asset support that MT4 never received. An Expert Advisor written for MT4 (MQL4) does not run unmodified on MT5 (MQL5); the two languages are related but not source-compatible, so a trader’s EA choice is itself a reason to pick one platform over the other, not just a preference. Where a firm’s EA rule differs between MT4 and MT5 (device count, VPS policy, server-request caps), that rule is named in each firm’s own block below. If MT5 fits your situation better than MT4, see our guide to prop firms that use MT5.
Why MT4 is harder to find in 2026
Two separate, dated patterns explain most of what this post found. First, a recurring MetaQuotes-platform restriction tied to US-based clients appears, in close to identical wording, across firms with no other connection to each other: FundedNext’s own US Client Guide (updated June 16, 2026) states “MetaQuotes services are not available to clients located in the United States”; Funded Trading Plus’s footer states “MetaTrader5™ is unavailable via IF Pro Ltd in the United States of America”; E8 Markets’ own platforms article says “Clients from the US are unable to use and purchase accounts on the MT5 and cTrader trading platforms”; and FTMO’s own travel FAQ tells clients to “avoid logging in to MetaTrader and cTrader accounts” while physically in the United States. None of these firms name a single shared cause, but the wording pattern, repeated across unrelated brands, points to the same platform-level restriction rather than five separate business decisions.
Second, at least one firm moved away from MT4 entirely and said so with a date: Blueberry Funded’s own help center article, published April 22, 2026, states “We are migrating all accounts on MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and DXTrade to MetaTrader 5 (MT5) … We are working to complete the migration by April 25, 2026,” with every checkout today showing MT5 and TradeLocker only. FXIFY’s live product cards show the same pattern without a dated notice: its general FAQ still names MT4, but neither live checkout we read on October 3, 2026 offers it, so the removal appears to have happened quietly, sometime before this post’s own check date.
How we checked prop firms that use MT4

- Checkout test: a product counts as selling MT4 only when the firm’s own live checkout, help article or terms show MT4 selectable today, and the account stays on MT4 at evaluation and funded, never a marketing hero image, a taxonomy tag or a third-party tracker alone.
- Metric: cost per $1,000 of loss room equals the list price plus any activation fee, divided by the smallest overall max-loss dollar figure the product reaches at any stage, times 1,000; a daily loss limit or a minimum balance is never the floor.
- EUR conversion: FTMO publishes its list prices in euros; converted at the ECB EUR/USD rate of 1.1225 dated October 2, 2026, stated once here.
- US eligibility, stated separately: whether MT4 is sold to US-based traders is recorded apart from whether the firm serves the US at all on any platform, so a platform-only restriction is never confused with a full country ban.
- Ranked product: each firm’s cheapest MT4-selectable plan variant that actually passes the test, never the dearest or the first one found.
A note on Trustpilot: 8 of the 16 firms in this post, Alpha Capital Group, Blue Guardian, E8 Markets, AquaFunded, Funded Trading Plus, For Traders, Instant Funding, Blueberry Funded, show a hidden rating on Trustpilot behind a “breach of our guidelines” banner, meaning the numeric score is not publicly shown; we state that plainly for each one below rather than substituting the firm’s own self-claimed score.
Prop firms that use MT4, ranked by cost

Only two products on the market today keep MT4 selectable at checkout and native through the funded account, with no stage gap. Both are shown below, sorted by cost per $1,000 of loss room; Darwinex Zero’s MT4 subscription is covered separately further down since it carries no comparable max-loss floor.
| Firm and product | MT4 eval / funded | US traders | Other platforms | Price at $50K | Cost per $1,000 | Live stage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FundedNext Stellar Lite | Native at evaluation and funded | No, Match-Trader only | MT5, cTrader, Match-Trader | $229.99 | $57.50 | No live stage, sim pays |
| FTMO Challenge: 1-Step (global) | Native at evaluation and funded | No, FTMO US sells none | MT5, cTrader, TradingView | €319 ($358.08) | $71.62 | No live stage, sim pays |
Notes on this ranking: Cost per $1,000 is the list price (plus any activation fee) divided by the smallest max-loss dollar figure the product reaches at any stage. FTMO’s figure is converted from euros at the ECB rate stated above; a euro move of about 1% or more could swap FTMO’s and FundedNext’s relative gap, though not their order, since the two figures sit 14 points apart. FundedNext’s own 2-Step product is also MT4-selectable at $60.00 per $1,000, slightly more than Stellar Lite; FTMO’s own 2-Step is MT4-selectable at $77.45 per $1,000 but refunds its fee with the first payout, a trade-off named in its own block below.
FundedNext’s Stellar Lite is the cheapest MT4 account we found, at $57.50 per $1,000 of loss room
Verdict: First: Stellar Lite keeps MT4 at evaluation and at the funded account with no stage gap, and its $400 static floor makes it the cheapest MT4-selectable product in this whole post, not just the cheapest sticker.
Video: no official FundedNext video covers MT4 specifically; the firm’s official channel’s closest match is a general account-reset walkthrough that is not platform-specific, and we do not substitute an unrelated video just to fill the slot.
Stellar Lite lists at $229.99 for a $50,000 account, with a $400 static max loss (8% of $50,000, fixed from the initial balance): $229.99 / 0.4 = $57.50 per $1,000 of loss room. FundedNext’s own help article names MetaTrader 4 without a stage restriction for the Challenge phase, and nothing on the site distinguishes Challenge-stage MT4 access from the FundedNext Account that follows it, so the same account keeps MT4 straight through to payouts.
FundedNext’s Stellar 2-Step is also MT4-selectable at $50,000 ($299.99, $5,000 static floor, $60.00 per $1,000), slightly more expensive per $1,000 than Lite, so Lite is the metric-best MT4 product here. US-based traders lose MT4 entirely: FundedNext’s own June 16, 2026 US Client Guide states MetaQuotes services are not available to clients located in the United States, and US buyers are locked onto Match-Trader with no platform switch allowed afterward.
- Price at $50K: $229.99 one-time for a $50,000 Stellar Lite account on MT4.
- The rule that bites: US-based clients cannot select MT4 at all and are locked onto Match-Trader with no platform switch once bought.
- Choose it when: You want the cheapest MT4 account per dollar of loss room in this entire set and you are not trading from the United States.
- Watch out for: FundedNext also sells a cheaper-looking Stellar 2-Step at the same size; Lite is still the better ratio once the floor is checked.
- Trustpilot: 4.5/5 on 80,485 reviews. FundedNext profile, rules.
FTMO’s global Challenge 1-Step keeps MT4 at every stage, but FTMO US sells none
Verdict: Second: FTMO’s global FAQ names MetaTrader 4 for both Challenge types and the funded FTMO Account, and because there is no live, real-money stage on this product, the same MT4 account carries a trader all the way to payout; FTMO US (the entity every US resident is routed to) offers only MetaTrader 5 or TradingView, with MT4 never available to a US-resident FTMO client on any product.
Video: “FTMO 1-Step Challenge Explained: All 4 Rules You Must Know,” FTMO official YouTube channel, March 22, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: FTMO’s own rules-overview video is the closest official match; no MT4-specific login walkthrough exists on the channel.
FTMO Challenge: 1-Step lists at €319 for a $50,000 account, converted at the ECB EUR/USD reference rate of 1.1225 dated October 2, 2026, which is $358.08. The floor is a $5,000 (10%) end-of-day trailing max loss, giving $358.08 / 5 = $71.62 per $1,000 of loss room. FTMO’s platforms FAQ states plainly that traders can use MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader or TradingView on the Challenge and on the funded FTMO Account, with no stage carve-out for MT4 specifically.
FTMO’s global Challenge: 2-Step is also MT4-selectable at $50,000 (€345, or $387.26, same $5,000 static floor, $77.45 per $1,000), but its fee is refunded with the first payout, a trade-off worth knowing even though the 1-Step wins on this post’s cost metric. US residents are automatically routed to FTMO US (ftmo.oanda.com), whose own platforms FAQ reads: “You can use some of the most popular trading platforms – MetaTrader 5 or TradingView”, with MT4 absent from that sentence entirely.
- Price at $50K: €319 one-time (about $358.08 at the October 2, 2026 ECB rate) for a $50,000 FTMO Challenge: 1-Step account on MT4.
- The rule that bites: FTMO US sells no MT4 product at any stage; a US resident never sees it on this brand regardless of which FTMO product they buy.
- Choose it when: You are not a US resident and want MT4 at every stage of a well-known, high-volume brand with no live stage to lose platform access at.
- Watch out for: The fee on the 1-Step is never refunded; FTMO’s own 2-Step costs more per $1,000 but refunds the fee with the first payout.
- Trustpilot: 4.8/5 on 53,448 reviews. FTMO profile, rules.
Darwinex Zero sells MT4 as a subscription
Darwinex Zero is the strongest live MT4 lead in this entire research set, and it is deliberately not blended into the ranked table above because it is not a challenge product at all.
Video: “How Darwinex Zero Works,” Darwinex Zero official YouTube channel, January 19, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: Reused from prior research; no MT4 login walkthrough exists on the official channel.
Darwinex Zero’s own platform page reads: “We’re plugged in. Trade on TradingView, MT4 or MT5,” and its live pricing API, re-read October 3, 2026, confirms the MT4 FOREX PRO row as AVAILABLE. A trader picks MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 or TradingView at signup for $50 a month (€45 in Europe and the UK), and the same MT4 account carries through calibration and into the notional-allocation stage with no platform switch required, the only payout-bearing stage Darwinex Zero has.
There is no max-loss floor to compute a cost-per-$1,000 figure from: Darwinex Zero publishes no drawdown or daily-loss rule for this product, only ordinary broker-style margin mechanics (a margin call under 100%, an automatic stop-out under 50%), so this post does not invent one. We also do not rank the product because it is a $50/month subscription that takes a 15% performance fee on profit above a high-water mark, not a one-time evaluation fee with a pass/fail test, a fundamentally different purchase from every other product in this post. Its own US-IP checkout read, taken October 3, 2026, showed no restriction, and the firm states “You can subscribe to Zero from any country without restrictions,” though the same pricing API also returns AVAILABLE for sanctioned countries, so that reading alone is not proof of a genuine US allowance; we report it as the strongest lead we have, not a verified fact.

Prop firms that say MT4 but do not sell it
Three firms each have a page somewhere, a FAQ, a tag, or a comparison page, that names MT4, and every one of them is contradicted by that same firm’s own live checkout.
| Firm | Where MT4 is claimed | What’s sold today | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| FXIFY | A general platforms FAQ names MT4 among its platforms | Two Phase and One Phase cards both show MT5, DXTrade or TradingView | Not sold on any live product |
| Hola Prime | Third-party trackers and an old comparison page | Checkout and plans API show MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker, Match Trader | Not sold on any plan or size |
| Lux Trading Firm | A site-wide stock FAQ snippet, not a real platform list | Checkout offers only The Lux Trader or MT5 | Never sold at checkout |
FXIFY’s FAQ still names MT4, but neither live product card does
FXIFY’s general platforms FAQ reads: “For all of our challenges, we offer the most popular trading platforms; MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and DXtrade,” and separately warns it cannot offer MetaTrader to US-based clients. But both live product cards checked on October 3, 2026, Two Phase Classic and One Phase, show the Platform field as “MT5, DXTrade or TradingView,” with no MT4 option anywhere on either configurator.
No dated notice explains when MT4 left the live product cards; the FAQ simply appears not to have been updated after the configurator changed. Per this post’s own test (MT4 selectable at the firm’s current checkout), FXIFY fails on both products it sells at $50,000.
Trustpilot: 4.3/5 on 6,345 reviews.
Hola Prime is tagged as an MT4 firm online, but its checkout has never shown MT4
Third-party prop firm directories and at least one older comparison page still list Hola Prime’s platforms as “MT4, MT5, DXTrade, cTrader, MatchTrader.” Hola Prime’s own live platform page, checkout, and plans API, all checked October 3, 2026, list exactly four platforms: MetaTrader 5, cTrader, TradeLocker and Match Trader. MT4 is not one of them, and no checkout SKU at any size or cycle offers it.
Hola Prime’s own channel still carries an older “How to Download and Log in to MT4” video, but the firm gives no dated notice of ever dropping MT4, so the removal, if it happened, is undated. Either way, the 2-Step Prime product fails this post’s test on the current, live checkout.
Trustpilot: 4.5/5 on 3,879 reviews.
Lux Trading Firm’s only mentions of MT4 are a stock FAQ snippet copied across unrelated pages
Three separate Lux Trading Firm pages, the homepage, the trading rules page and the FAQ, repeat the identical sentence about what a buyer’s fee covers: “The fee covers the use of all our unique applications, such as MT4, Trading View and Trader Evolution platforms.” The firm’s actual live order form, checked October 3, 2026, has a Platform Choice field offering only “The Lux Trader” or “MT5 MetaTrader 5,” with no MT4 field anywhere, and the homepage’s own trader testimonials name only MT5.
Third-party directories that still tag Lux Trading Firm as an MT4 firm are mistaken: the repeated FAQ sentence is a template artifact, not a real platform offering, and it is directly contradicted by the firm’s own checkout and testimonials.
Trustpilot: 3.9/5 on 635 reviews.
Prop firms with no MT4 at all
These nine firms have never offered MT4 on any product we could find, no stale FAQ, no taxonomy tag, no old video, just a different platform roster from the start or after an earlier switch that predates this post’s own check.
| Firm | Platforms instead |
|---|---|
| Alpha Capital Group | MT5, cTrader, DX Trade, TradeLocker |
| Blue Guardian | MT5, Match-Trader, TradeLocker |
| E8 Markets | MT5, TradeLocker, MatchTrader, cTrader |
| The5ers | MT5, cTrader, TradingView (US: TradingView only) |
| AquaFunded | MT5, TradeLocker, MatchTrader, cTrader |
| City Traders Imperium | MT5 (non-US), Match-Trader (everyone) |
| Funded Trading Plus | MT5 (non-US), Match-Trader |
| For Traders | TradeLocker, cTrader, MT5 (non-US) |
| Instant Funding | MT5, cTrader, Match-Trader (US: Match-Trader only) |
A few are worth a specific note. The5ers’ own platform FAQ and its own drawdown FAQ disagree with each other on the max-loss percentage (8% on the pricing table versus 10% in a separate article), a conflict unrelated to the MT4 question but worth knowing if you buy there for MT5 instead. E8 Markets runs MT5 through a separate Saint Lucia entity from the US LLC that sells TradeLocker and Match-Trader, a two-entity structure that is useful context for how MT4-if-it-existed would likely have been tested the same way. City Traders Imperium and Funded Trading Plus both split their platform offering by country (MT5 outside the US, Match-Trader for everyone) rather than by MT4 versus MT5, since MT4 was never part of either firm’s lineup.
Futures prop firms and MT4
MT4 is a forex and CFD platform; no futures prop firm we checked has ever used it. Every futures product we have checked across this research, Topstep, Apex Trader Funding, Tradeify, MyFundedFutures, Take Profit Trader, TradeDay, FundedNext Futures, Alpha Futures, Bulenox, Blue Guardian Futures, FTMO Futures and E8 Zero Starter/Max among them, routes through Tradovate, Rithmic, ProjectX or NinjaTrader instead, never MetaTrader. If futures is what you actually came here for, see our guide to prop firms that use Tradovate.
US traders and MT4
The honest, product-level answer to “can you still use MT4 in the US” is narrower than most lists make it sound. A platform restriction is not the same thing as a firm refusing US residents entirely, and conflating the two is the single most common error in this topic’s search results. FundedNext and E8 Markets both sell to US-based traders today, just not on MT4 or MT5; US clients get Match-Trader (FundedNext) or TradeLocker and Match-Trader (E8 Markets) instead. FTMO is the clearest full split: US residents are automatically routed to a separate FTMO US entity that sells only MetaTrader 5 or TradingView, never MT4, while the global FTMO brand keeps MT4 for everyone else.
Among the firms we checked, the only live MT4 route a US-based trader can open today is Darwinex Zero’s $50/month subscription, covered in its own section above, with the legal-shape and country-verification caveats stated there. No challenge-style, pass/fail MT4 product in this research currently sells to US residents.
Also checked, not ranked
Four more firms came up in this topic’s research but are not full candidates for ranking or the no-MT4 table above, based on firm statements already verified in our other research on these firms.
- ThinkCapital. Sells exclusively on its own ThinkTrader platform; no MT4 or MT5 product exists on any live checkout.
- DNA Funded. Moved fully off MetaTrader to TradeLocker per a site-wide migration banner, and new orders were paused with no reopening date as of our last check.
- FundedFirm. Sells MT5 only; its own platforms API returns no MT4 option and no broker/server name is published for any MetaTrader route.
- Traddoo. Named by a third-party blog as an MT4/MT5 firm, but the domain itself returns an SSL error consistent with an expired registration, not a purchasable firm as of our last check.
Checklist before you buy an MT4 prop firm account

- Open the firm’s own checkout, not a marketing hero image or a taxonomy page, and confirm MT4 is a selectable platform option today.
- Confirm MT4 is named for the funded account too, not just the evaluation; a firm that goes quiet on the funded stage is a source gap, never a yes.
- Check whether your country, and specifically the United States if that applies to you, can select MT4 at checkout, separate from whether the firm serves your country at all on any platform.
- Read the firm’s Expert Advisor rule for MT4 specifically: device, VPS, server-request, and MQL4-versus-MQL5 limits can differ from the MT5 rule on the same site.
- Price every plan variant the firm sells at your target size; the cheapest sticker is not always the cheapest per dollar of loss room.
- If a page or video seems to show MT4, check the date, and confirm it against the live checkout before buying; FAQs and old videos lag behind product changes.
Final picks for prop firms that use MT4
Cheapest MT4 account: FundedNext’s Stellar Lite, $57.50 per $1,000 of loss room, MT4 native at evaluation and funded. Best-known MT4 brand: FTMO’s global Challenge: 1-Step, $71.62 per $1,000, with no live stage to lose platform access at. MT4 for US traders: Darwinex Zero’s $50/month subscription is the one live route we found, a different kind of product with its own trade-offs. For every other reader here, the honest shape of this market in 2026 is that MT4 has mostly moved to MT5, cTrader, DXtrade, TradeLocker and Match-Trader; see our guides to prop firms that use MT5 and MT4 vs MT5 vs cTrader vs TradeLocker if MT4 specifically is not a requirement, and prop firms for US traders for the fuller set of US-eligibility rules beyond MT4 alone.

Frequently asked questions
Which prop firms offer the MT4 platform?
As of October 3, 2026, only two sellers keep MT4 live on their own checkout at every stage up to and including the funded account: FundedNext’s Stellar Lite ($57.50 per $1,000 of loss room) and FTMO’s global Challenge: 1-Step ($71.62 per $1,000). Darwinex Zero also sells MT4 natively, but as a $50/month subscription, not a challenge. FXIFY, Hola Prime and Lux Trading Firm each have a page somewhere that names MT4, but none of their live checkouts sell it today.
Can you still use MT4 in the US?
Not on a funded-challenge product from any firm we checked. FundedNext and FTMO both sell MT4, but neither offers it to US-based traders: FundedNext locks US clients onto Match-Trader, and FTMO routes US residents to a separate FTMO US entity that sells only MetaTrader 5 or TradingView. The closest thing to a working US route is Darwinex Zero’s $50/month subscription, which is a different kind of product with its own trade-offs, covered below.
Which US brokers use MetaTrader 4?
That is a different question from this post. A retail broker account is a real brokerage relationship with your own deposited funds; the prop firm accounts covered here are simulated evaluation and funded accounts, never real brokerage accounts, regardless of which platform they run on. Checking a retail broker’s own site directly is the way to answer the broker question; this post only covers prop firm evaluation and funded products.
Does FTMO use MT4?
Yes, on the global FTMO brand: both FTMO Challenge: 1-Step and 2-Step keep MetaTrader 4 at the evaluation stage and on the funded FTMO Account, with no live, real-money stage to lose it at. FTMO US, the separate entity every US resident is routed to, does not; its own platforms FAQ names only MetaTrader 5 or TradingView.
Can US traders use MT4 with a prop firm?
Not on a funded-challenge product in this research. Every MT4-selling challenge firm we checked, FundedNext and FTMO, excludes US-based traders from MT4 specifically while still serving them on another platform. Darwinex Zero’s MT4 subscription is the one live MT4 route a US-based trader can open today, with the legal-shape caveat explained in its own section below.
Why do so few prop firms sell MT4 in 2026?
The pattern across firm pages we checked, not a single press report, is a recurring MetaQuotes-platform restriction tied to US-based clients: FundedNext’s own June 16, 2026 US Client Guide states MetaQuotes services are not available to clients located in the United States, and near-identical sentences appear on E8 Markets, Funded Trading Plus, Alpha Capital Group and FTMO’s own travel and VPN pages. Separately, Blueberry Funded’s own April 22, 2026 notice describes a dated, voluntary migration of every MT4 account to MT5, unrelated to any country restriction.
Is MT4 or MT5 better for a prop firm challenge?
Neither is universally better; the two platforms run the same evaluation rules at most firms, and the real differences are in what each one supports. MT4 still has the deeper installed base of commercial MQL4 Expert Advisors built over two decades, while MT5 adds a native strategy tester with more order types and multi-asset support. If you already run an MT4 Expert Advisor, check the firm’s own EA rule
