E8 Signature leads this comparison for US traders who want a plainly simulated account and stated US tax paperwork: $170 list, no activation and $2,000 overall loss room give $85.00 per $1,000. DayTraders Trail is cheapest on cost alone at $30.00, and Topstep’s No Activation Fee Combine is $47.50 on one monthly cycle. Purdia names Tradovate for live onboarding; TPT names the same brokerage brand only for PRO+. A named broker’s registration does not cover the separate evaluation company. We compare 18 firms by the company you pay, broker or simulation, tax form and state limits before sorting by price. Earn2Trade publishes a Rise payout restriction affecting three states and three territories; that is not a purchase ban.
Checked October 3, 2026. Prices use the documented $50,000 configurations. Review figures keep their own dates. Monthly charges, optional settings, payout restrictions and live-stage terms can change before purchase.

Quick picks for US futures prop traders
- Clear simulation and US tax statement: E8 Signature 50K. It remains simulated, with a $85.00 cost per $1,000 and no live brokerage promise.
- Lowest list-cost ratio: DayTraders Trail 50K, $30.00 per $1,000. Intraday trailing and conflicting live descriptions are the trade-offs.
- Specific live onboarding: Purdia EOD Evaluation, with Tradovate named for the later Live Funded Account. Confirm its current tax-form statement.
- Explicit tax form and issuer: Topstep publishes 1099-NEC guidance; Apex’s current article identifies its 1099-NEC process through TaxBandits.
No state-specific best pick is supported by the checked terms. A trader in a location with a payout-processor restriction needs a confirmed alternative bank route, not a different marketing badge.
What US futures prop traders should check

A futures prop evaluation is usually a paid test in simulation, with an account-loss allowance and rules to earn a later payout. The account label is not a deposit belonging to the trader. A paid simulated-funded stage may follow the challenge; a genuine live stage, if offered, is a different step with separate onboarding and risk terms. A software login alone does not identify who executes or holds the live account.
- Company you pay: Find the exact legal name and state or country in the contract. A Texas court clause does not, by itself, prove Texas formation.
- Company executing live trades: Read the live agreement and identify the FCM, introducing broker and clearing company. Tradovate, Rithmic or TradingView can appear as software names without proving the program’s brokerage arrangement.
- Tax form and issuer: Distinguish a firm-issued 1099 from a payout processor’s form and from a conditional or unstated promise.
- Location limits: Check purchase eligibility, live onboarding and the exact bank payout method. A processor restriction is not automatically a firm-wide account ban.
Company registration proves a corporate filing, not a trading-services licence. The CFTC registration-check guidance directs buyers to NFA BASIC for the exact firm and its background. A name not found in a search does not establish illegality or tell you which entity performs an activity; ask for the actual brokerage legal name and check that entity.
How we compared US futures prop firms

- Read the company contract: Use the named entity, its location and stated law, not a brand’s unrelated sister product.
- Separate simulation from live: Check whether the paid funded stage is simulated and what broker, if any, is actually named for the later live step.
- Check tax and location wording: Keep a published form promise, a conditional answer and an absent answer distinct. Identify processor-specific state limits.
- Group before comparing price: Clear US contract and simulated-or-named-broker descriptions come first; US contracts with an unresolved broker, tax or entity detail follow; foreign contracts or a stated location restriction follow those.
- Match the numbers: Use the list evaluation price and activation fee from the same named $50,000 path, divided by its smallest overall loss allowance, then multiplied by 1,000.
A live call-up is a warning about changing accounts, balances or withdrawal terms, not a penalty by itself. Placement is not a guarantee of solvency, registration, payout approval or trading results. Where a current configuration or form statement could not be confirmed, that limitation is stated rather than turned into permission.
Best futures prop firms for US traders ranked
The clear-contract group comes first, then US contracts with a missing or conditional link, then foreign contracts or a stated payout-location restriction. Price sorts within each group. This is why a cheaper ratio can appear below a dearer one.

Notes on this ranking: * Prices use one successful evaluation cycle plus the standard activation charge, at list, not a coupon price. Additional monthly cycles, resets, data charges and payout fees are extra. Cost is calculated from the smallest overall maximum-loss allowance on the named path, not a daily limit or a locked minimum balance. † Elite Trader Funding includes the first $87 funded month; that charge continues monthly. Its one-time activation alternative gives $192.00 per $1,000, compared with $149.40 for Direct to Funded. ‡ Apex uses the unambiguous new Standard product. Its promoted legacy 50K offer calculates to $128.80 but conflicts with the current legacy policy saying it is unavailable; confirm before buying. LucidDaily also has differing automatic-move and discretionary-review descriptions on its payout and live pages; this does not alter its comparison group. § The row is the documented product configuration, not a claim that every current optional setting was confirmed. LucidDaily uses Intraday and DLL On; its other Daily choices do not change the funded intraday rule. Builder uses the default $2,000 allowance. Purdia’s current tax-form promise and exact EOD mechanics need confirmation; Phidias Fundamental is not Express to Live. ¶ Trustpilot displays its “breach of our guidelines” notice instead of a rating. Counts remain visible; a missing score does not change placement. Firms are grouped by how clearly the US contract, broker or simulation, tax statement and location limits are described, then sorted by the cost within each group. Equal costs within the same group share a rank; lower list price orders those ties. DayTraders Trail is cheapest on cost alone, but its intraday floor and conflicting live descriptions differ from E8 Signature’s clearly simulated route.

E8 Signature futures suits US traders who want a plainly simulated account
E8 Signature is the strongest fit here for a trader who values a clear contract over a promise of eventual live capital.
E8 Funding LLC is the Texas contracting company, and its terms apply to the futures product as well as its other markets. Both the Challenge and the Performance account remain simulated. That is not a real brokerage account in your name, and E8 does not describe itself as your broker. Its tax article says third-party payout processors such as WorkMarket or Rise distribute US traders’ 1099 forms.
Signature 50K has a $2,000 end-of-day dynamic maximum drawdown at both stages, equal to 4% of $50,000. The separate $1,000 Daily Pause is a daily stop, not the overall loss allowance. The one-step profit target is $3,000, or 6%. Performance pays an 80% share and applies a 35% best-day limit, a retained drawdown-sized buffer, and five profitable days before a request. The first two payout caps at this size are $1,250 each. After five payouts, the account is replaced with a free new Challenge rather than becoming a live brokerage seat.
The $170 list price beats the $178 Zero Starter on cost per $1,000 because Starter supplies only $1,500 of overall loss room. Signature’s configurator showed $162 with E8, while its anonymous checkout showed $128 against the same $170 list. No end date was shown, so neither discounted figure sets the ranking. Zero Max’s $328 list and $1,500 loss allowance also cost more on this comparison.

- Product compared: E8 Signature 50K
- First-pass list cost: $170 one-time plus $0 activation; ($170 + $0) / $2,000 × 1,000 = $85.00 per $1,000 of overall loss room
- Drawdown and split: $2,000 overall allowance; EOD dynamic; 80%
- Company and location: E8 Funding LLC (TX)
- Law and dispute venue: Texas law; AAA arbitration and a written opt-out period
- Funded or live brokerage: Stays simulated; no live broker
- Tax and bank payout: 1099 via processors; Aeropay, WorkMarket or Rise
- State exclusions: No purchase ban found; check payout rail
- Platforms: Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView
- Discount: Configurator $162 with E8; anonymous checkout $128; no end date shown. List is $170 on both.
- Choose it when: You want a one-time futures evaluation, stated US tax paperwork, and no expectation that a simulated balance becomes your own live brokerage account.
- Watch out for: There is no live call-up on this product. Five payout requests end the Performance account, and the retained buffer and best-day rule can delay access to profits.

DayTraders Trail futures offers the lowest list-cost ratio for US traders
DayTraders’ Trail evaluation buys more overall loss room than its cheaper Static evaluation, so the $50 sticker is not its best-value product.
Day Traders LLC is named in the terms as a Nevada company. The Trail evaluation costs $70 one-time and the Pro activation is $5. A $2,500 overall trailing allowance gives a $75 first-pass bill and a $30.00 cost per $1,000. Static’s $50 evaluation plus $5 activation against $1,000 of room produces $55.00, the same ratio as the $105 EOD evaluation plus $5 activation against $2,000.
The Pro stage is simulated and advertises a 100% split. The later live offer is less clear: a payment-methods article says the platform does not offer real-money trading accounts, while its live-account material describes access to firm capital in real markets. Neither identifies the executing broker. US tax paperwork is clearer, with a stated 1099-NEC and Plane bank payouts. Nevada law and a Las Vegas dispute venue are in the terms.
Trail follows intraday peaks, including unrealized profit. An open winner can move the threshold upward even if the final realized profit is much smaller. Straight to Funded and the CORE Straight to Live route are separate purchases, not upgrades included in this row; their ratios are $136.80 and $89.50 respectively.

Current written terms control; a clip for a different product does not supply this row’s price or loss limit.
- Product compared: Trail evaluation 50K
- First-pass list cost: $70 one-time plus $5 activation; ($70 + $5) / $2,500 × 1,000 = $30.00 per $1,000 of overall loss room
- Drawdown and split: $2,500 overall allowance; Intraday trailing; 100% Pro; 80% live
- Company and location: Day Traders LLC (NV)
- Law and dispute venue: Nevada law; Las Vegas arbitration and court venue
- Funded or live brokerage: Live claimed; broker unnamed; pages conflict
- Tax and bank payout: 1099-NEC; Plane bank payout
- State exclusions: No state ban found
- Platforms: Rithmic; Onyx and Quantower are described for the separate live offering
- Discount: No discounted offer shown for this Trail product.
- Choose it when: Your priority is the lowest first-pass cash cost and you can manage an intraday-trailing threshold.
- Watch out for: A discretionary live move is possible; whether you can decline and keep the simulated account is not published. Ask which broker executes the live trades, because the firm’s descriptions of real-money trading conflict.

Topstep futures separates the US prop contract from its brokerage business
Topstep makes the difference between a prop account and a personal brokerage account unusually important to read before paying.
TopstepTrader LLC operates the simulated Trading Combine and Express Funded Account, while TopstepFunded LLC is the Illinois company named for the Live Funded Account. Topstep LLC is a separate holding company. Topstep Brokerage LLC, NFA ID 0567079, is a separate introducing-broker business for personal brokerage accounts. Its registration is not a licence for the Combine or an identification of the Live Funded Account’s executing FCM.
The Live account uses Topstep’s capital, not money the trader owns merely because a balance appears on a screen. Ownership of the capital and live execution are separate questions; firm-owned capital is not evidence that execution is simulated. The published Live material does not identify the executing FCM by name. The tax article does state a 1099-NEC process for US traders. Aeropay and Prop-to-Brokerage carry no stated transfer fee; ACH and wire are listed at $30, with a $125 payout minimum.
The No Activation Fee Combine is $95 per month, with $0 activation and a $2,000 end-of-day Maximum Loss Limit. Standard costs $49 per month but adds $149 on passing, a $198 first-pass bill versus $95. The funded split is 90% for new buyers. A $85 monthly Responsible Trading Discount adds a Daily Loss Limit; it is an optional discounted configuration, not the $95 list path ranked here.

- Product compared: Combine No Activation 50K

- Watch out for: A selected trader cannot decline Live and stay in the Express Funded Account. The alternative is to close it; read the starting Live allocation and Reserve rules rather than treating the whole simulated balance as withdrawable cash.

Funded Futures Family keeps the California contract clear but tax forms unstated
Funded Futures Family’s lowest-priced evaluation trades a cheaper entry bill for an intraday-trailing threshold.
