Advanced checks before paying
  • Price TradeDay by the months you expect to need: the fee repeats every 30 days until you pass or cancel, though a renewal also gives a failed account a free reset.
  • Model your payouts with the Quick Pay split: below $4,000 of account profit you keep 50%, and profit under $4,000 still in the account when it moves to Funded Live is also transferred at 50%.
  • Check the funded drawdown you will actually have. Quick Pay and LucidDaily trail intraday once funded, even after an EOD evaluation; Fast Pass, LucidPro, LucidFlex and LucidDirect stay EOD.
  • If you run a bot, use a VPS or trade CPI and FOMC releases, read each firm’s rule on your exact plan before paying.

Short answer:Lucid Trading vs TradeDay comes down to how you pay and how much of each payout you keep. Lucid charges a one-time fee, pays 90/10 from the first payout on all four plans (LucidPro, LucidFlex, LucidDaily and the no-evaluation LucidDirect) and allows bots and copiers, but it caps each payout on Pro, Flex and Direct. TradeDay bills its evaluation every 30 days ($59 a month for a 50K Quick Pay intraday account at the sale price shown on October 13, 2026, $131 list), charges no activation fee and lets Quick Pay traders withdraw from the first funded day with no buffer and no cap. The catch is the split: Quick Pay pays 50/50 while the account holds less than $4,000 of profit and 80/20 above that, and it pauses each account at $10,000 of gross profit for a live review, removing anything above that level. TradeDay also flattens every account around FOMC, CPI and payrolls, bans bought bots and VPS use, and publishes a 36% pass rate. Neither firm is better for everyone.

This page compares Lucid Trading and TradeDay plan by plan. Every number below comes from the firms’ own websites and help centres, read on October 13, 2026, and the sources are listed at the end. Where a firm’s own pages disagree, we say so.

Checked October 13, 2026: lucidtrading.com, support.lucidtrading.com, tradeday.com and the TradeDay help centre (tradeday.freshdesk.com). Sale prices and coupon prices were read from the firms’ public pages on October 13, 2026; they were not verified by purchase.

Both firms run simulated evaluation and funded accounts. Payouts from the funded stage are paid from simulated profits under each firm’s rules, and only some traders reach live capital. This is educational research, not financial advice.

What each firm is and how its model works

Lucid Trading is run by Lucid Trading Group LLC, which lists a Dover, Delaware address. Its help-centre articles are signed by “AJ”, and the firm’s official X account calls AJ its founder and CEO; outside event listings name him as AJ Campanella. Lucid sells four current plans: LucidPro (pass in one day, larger caps from payout 2), LucidFlex (cheapest, no funded consistency rule, payouts of 50% of profit), LucidDaily (daily payout requests, intraday funded drawdown) and LucidDirect (no evaluation). The older LucidBlack plan and the earlier Live and LucidMaxx structures are legacy and are not compared here. Funded accounts are simulated; traders enter a live review pool after their fifth payout on Pro, Flex or Direct, or after hitting the maximum daily profit on LucidDaily. Our Lucid Trading review covers every plan, and Lucid’s plans compared helps you choose between them.

TradeDay is TradeDay LLC, an Illinois company at 412 S. Wells in Chicago, founded in 2020 by James Thorpe (CEO) and Steve Miley (COO). Its About page dates its first payouts to 2021, multiple accounts to June 2025 and “TradeDay 2.0” to June 2026; the 2.0 announcement is dated May 29, 2026 and says traders already in older programs keep their existing rules. TradeDay calls itself a trading education and trader evaluation company and says it is not registered with the SEC or CFTC. It has two paths, both in three stages:

  • Quick Pay: a 5-day evaluation with a 30% consistency objective, then a Funded Sim account with day-one payouts, then a Funded Live account after a review at $10,000 gross profit.
  • Fast Pass: a 3-day evaluation with a 45% consistency objective, then a Funded Sim account with profitable-day and cap rules, then Funded Live on the fifth payout request.

The monthly fee also buys access to TradeDay’s members’ area (courses, daily meetings, a trading room). TradeDay sells that on its own as a “CoPilot” membership from $24 a month for people who do not want an evaluation.

The practical difference: Lucid gives you four ways in, pays 90% of every payout from the first one and caps how much each payout can be. TradeDay lets you take money out from the first funded day on Quick Pay and has no per-payout cap there, but keeps half of what you withdraw until the account holds more than $4,000 of profit, and stops each account at $10,000 of gross profit for a live review.

Prices at 25K, 50K, 100K and 150K

The fee models are different, so compare what you expect to pay in total. Lucid charges once per evaluation. TradeDay charges every 30 days until you pass or cancel; billing stops the day you pass and there is no activation fee. Lucid’s homepage shows the code VAULT for 30% off, plus a limited-time $5 to $10 discount for keeping the daily loss limit on with LucidPro and LucidFlex. TradeDay’s pricing cards on October 13, 2026 showed list prices struck through with sale prices of about 55% off Quick Pay and 50% off Fast Pass (“Accounts from just $45!”), and its banner said “USE CODE TDNEW” for best pricing. TradeDay does not say whether TDNEW changes the sale price shown, so we print the card prices. BestProps has no codes of its own; our Lucid Trading deals and TradeDay deals pages track current offers.

Monthly prices from the pricing cards on tradeday.com and reset prices from TradeDay’s billing and renewal articles (both updated October 5, 2026), read October 13, 2026. Not verified by purchase.

Three TradeDay source conflicts to know about. First, the pricing cards print a reset price equal to the sale price, which matches the help centre at 25K and 50K but not at 100K and 150K (cards: $108 and $162 on Quick Pay intraday, $175 and $265 on Fast Pass; help centre: $96, $144, $165 and $250). Second, TradeDay’s “differences between each account size” article (updated September 1, 2026) lists lower list prices than the cards for several plans, for example $125 rather than $131 for the 50K Quick Pay intraday and $480 rather than $530 for the 150K Fast Pass. Third, the 2.0 launch post advertised the 50K from $62.50. We use the pricing cards as the current offer; check checkout before paying.

Free resets on renewal. Each TradeDay subscription includes one evaluation per 30 days. If you have failed and your dashboard shows “NOT BEING EVALUATED” when the renewal goes through, TradeDay resets the account for free; the reset is not banked for later. A paid reset restarts you immediately and does not move the billing date. Lucid has no renewal, so every restart is a paid reset.

What it costs to reach the funded stage at 50K

Because one firm bills monthly and the other does not, the number of months you need changes the answer. These scenarios use TradeDay’s card sale prices and Lucid’s VAULT prices with the daily loss limit on.

Cost check: at the sale prices on October 13, 2026, a first-month 50K pass is cheaper at TradeDay on Quick Pay ($59 to $79) than on any Lucid plan except LucidFlex ($90.20) and the intraday LucidDaily ($75.60). From the second month, Lucid’s one-time fee is usually cheaper. If you pass in two or three days, the subscription costs you once; if you expect to grind for two months, add the second payment before you compare.

Other costs

Commissions in the simulated accounts. Both firms charge per side. TradeDay says its rates include brokerage, NFA, clearing and exchange fees and are the same on evaluation, Funded Sim and Funded Live accounts. Lucid labels its rate “Commission (Per Side)” without saying what it includes.

ContractLucid per side (round trip)TradeDay per side (round trip)
ES / NQ / RTY / YM$1.75 ($3.50)$2.88 ($5.76)
MES / MNQ / M2K / MYM$0.50 ($1.00)$0.95 ($1.90)
CL / MCL$2.00 / $0.50$3.00 / $1.10
GC / MGC$2.30 / $0.80$3.10 / $1.20

10-year Treasury note (ZN)Not on the approved list$2.30
Lucid approved products and commissions; TradeDay trading commissions article (updated August 20, 2026). Read October 13, 2026.

Example: 20 round trips a day on MNQ for 20 trading days costs $400 at Lucid and $760 at TradeDay at the published rates. On five ES round trips a day for 20 days it is $350 against $576. Commission comes out of your profit and your drawdown at both firms, so a high-frequency style pays noticeably more at TradeDay.

Market data. TradeDay includes Level 1 CME data free in the evaluation and Funded Sim. Level 2 is a $49 a month bundle bought inside Tradovate. In Funded Live you pay the CME professional data fee of $156 per exchange per month, plus a $2 a month card fee that Tradovate charges, and your commissions are debited from the account. Lucid’s live-account articles do not publish a data charge; its setup guide lists professional data at $112 per exchange per month.

Withdrawal fees. TradeDay pays through Riseworks: US bank wires are free, international wires cost $15, Layer 1 crypto costs $2.50 plus gas and Layer 2 crypto is free. Lucid does not publish a payout fee; its minimum request is $500 against TradeDay’s $250.

Platform licences. TradeDay provides a free NinjaTrader 8 licence on its CQG route; TradingView, Jigsaw, Bookmap and the other add-ons need your own licence. Lucid provides MotiveWave and Quantower licences through its dashboard.

Ease of passing. On paper Lucid has fewer gates: LucidPro can pass in one day with no consistency test, and LucidFlex and LucidDaily need about two days. TradeDay Quick Pay needs five trading days and a 30% consistency objective, the strictest evaluation rule in this comparison. TradeDay also warns that if you hit the target early you must keep trading “in the style you have been”; sitting in the “funding zone” scalping 1-lot micros can get the evaluation extended. In exchange, TradeDay has no daily loss limit at all, while Lucid’s optional daily limit is a soft stop for the rest of the session. TradeDay publishes a pass rate of 36% for January to June 2026. We found no pass-rate figure from Lucid.

A Fast Pass source conflict. TradeDay’s pricing cards and help centre say Fast Pass needs 3 minimum trading days; the How It Works page and the 2.0 launch post say “No minimum on Fast Pass”. Plan for 3 days.

What TradeDay checks after you pass. Passing is not a guarantee. TradeDay reviews every passed evaluation for prohibited practices, runs KYC and AML checks through Riseworks, and requires a rules-and-regulations course. You get a pass email at 5:30 PM CT, and you have 30 days to finish the four onboarding steps or the offer lapses. If you fail KYC, TradeDay refunds the fee for the passed evaluation but not earlier months.

The Quick Pay EOD trap. TradeDay sells a “Quick Pay End of Day” evaluation, but its card adds “(Intraday Funded Drawdown)”: once you pass, the Funded Sim account trails intraday, including open profit. LucidDaily works the same way. If you chose EOD because you let winners breathe, only LucidPro, LucidFlex, LucidDirect and TradeDay Fast Pass keep an EOD drawdown after funding.

Payouts do not pull the Quick Pay floor back down. TradeDay calculates the Quick Pay floor on gross profit (current profit plus payouts already taken), so it keeps trailing as if the withdrawn money were still there. TradeDay’s own 50K example: make $500 on day one and the floor rises from $48,000 to $48,500; withdraw that $500 and the balance is back at $50,000 but the floor stays at $48,500. Every payout before the floor reaches $50,000 shrinks your cushion by the full amount withdrawn. TradeDay adds that traders whose frequent or large withdrawals leave the account exposed may not be invited back after a loss.

No daily loss limit at TradeDay. The maximum drawdown is TradeDay’s one rule that ends an account. At Lucid the daily loss limit is a soft breach (trading stops until the next session) and is optional on Pro, Flex and Daily: you decide at checkout and cannot change it later. On LucidPro and LucidDirect, once the funded balance closes above the trail balance, a scaling limit of 60% of your peak end-of-day profit replaces the fixed one. More on Lucid’s mechanics in Lucid Trading rules and on TradeDay’s in TradeDay rules.

Consistency rules

Both firms divide your best day by your total profit, and missing the ratio does not fail the account at either firm; you keep trading until it is back in line.

Worked example, 50K evaluation. Days of +$1,200, +$900 and +$900 make $3,000, which hits the target, but the $1,200 day is 40% of the total. On TradeDay Quick Pay you must keep going until that day is 30% of profit: $1,200 ÷ 0.30 = $4,000, the same example TradeDay gives. On Fast Pass, 40% is under 45%, so $3,000 passes once you have 3 days. LucidFlex and LucidDaily (50%) pass, and LucidPro has no evaluation rule. TradeDay’s own tip: keep every day under $900 on a 50K Quick Pay ($3,000 × 30%) and under $1,350 on Fast Pass.

Worked example, funded. A $1,200 best day needs $3,000 in the cycle on LucidPro (40%), $6,000 on LucidDirect (20%) and about $2,667 of gross profit on a new Fast Pass account (45%). On Quick Pay, LucidDaily and LucidFlex there is no funded rule. Our Lucid Trading consistency rule guide has calculator tables for each Lucid plan.

Lucid pays out five times on Pro, Flex and Direct before the account enters its live review pool; LucidDaily has no payout count but a maximum daily profit ($6,000 / $8,000 / $10,000 / $12,000) that triggers the move. TradeDay Fast Pass moves to Funded Live on the fifth payout request; Quick Pay moves on the $10,000 review.

How the Quick Pay split works. TradeDay calculates the split per account on the profit sitting in the account when you request. It publishes three cases on a 50K account:

  • $5,000 of profit, request $1,000: the payout leaves $4,000 in the account, so all of it is paid at 80/20 and you receive $800.
  • $3,000 of profit, request $1,000: the account is under $4,000, so it is paid at 50/50 and you receive $500.
  • $6,000 of profit, request $3,000: the first $2,000 is above the $4,000 line (80% = $1,600) and the last $1,000 is below it (50% = $500), so you receive $2,100.

In practice, the first $4,000 of profit in every Quick Pay account is paid at 50% if you withdraw it, and it is also transferred at 50% if it is still in the account when the account moves to Funded Live (see below). Holding $4,000 in the account is the only way to be paid 80% on the rest.

Two TradeDay source notes. The Quick Pay policy says requests before “5:30 pm ET” are processed by the next business day, while every other TradeDay payout article says 5:30 PM CT; we use CT. The Fast Pass policy and pricing card put the 100K cap at $1,875, while the “What is Fast Pass?” article says $1,850. Lucid’s LucidPro and LucidDirect funded-account overviews also say “No simulated payout caps”, while their payout articles publish the maximums above; we use the payout articles.

These assume every day-count, profit-goal and consistency rule is already met. For TradeDay Quick Pay, which has no buffer, we show the request that leaves the same $2,000 cushion above the floor that Lucid’s buffer leaves, and then the all-out request.
