The Trading Pit is the cheapest real-equity entry ($99 for $25K, hidden rating), trader2B has a free $100K evaluation, and PropShopTrader sells 101 US equities at 2:1. The rest are stock CFDs: FTMO (59 symbols, not for US residents), Lux (163), FundedNext (20), FXIFY (28, not for US residents), SabioTrade and Goat Funded Trader. Velotrade’s “stocks” are simulated KuCoin-style perpetuals. Most funded accounts here are simulated by the firm’s own terms.

How we ranked prop firms for stock trading on the funded account

We checked 18 firms that rank as stock prop firms and asked what you trade once funded:
- Eligibility. Single stocks or single-stock CFDs must be on the firm’s live instrument list. Index CFDs, futures and options-only programs are listed under also checked.
- Instrument and price source. Real exchange-listed equity ranks above stock CFDs; tokenized perpetuals are cautionary.
- Funded-stage terms. Sim or live, shorts, hours and forced-close time, leverage or buying power, from the firm’s own terms.
- Cost and payout gate. Entry price with code and list, loss limits, split and first-payout gate.
- Trust. Trustpilot count and score, or the hidden-rating banner; videos from the firm’s own channel only.

Instrument and hours on the funded account matter more than ticker count for stock prop firms

A “12,000 tickers” headline means little if your short is unavailable once funded or your position closes at 15:50. Three products are sold as stocks: real equity priced off exchange order books on exchange hours (Trade The Pool, The Trading Pit, trader2B, PropShopTrader), stock CFDs with leverage and overnight swap (FTMO, Lux, FundedNext, FXIFY, Goat, SabioTrade), and Velotrade’s 24/7 perpetual-style contracts.
Most of it is simulated: seven of the eleven firms say so in their terms. trader2B and Lux claim live execution without naming a broker. None is a broker-dealer, so no Series 57 or FINRA membership is involved; you buy an evaluation, not a trading seat.
Benefits and drawbacks of trading a stock prop firm’s capital
Benefit: cheap access to buying power you have not saved yourself. A one-time fee of $17 (Goat Funded Trader) to $859 (PropShopTrader’s largest Equities size) buys $5,000 to $250,000 of buying power, and once funded you keep 50% to 97% of what you make depending on the firm and tier, before any add-on. trader2B’s Free Toro100 removes the fee entirely for $100,000 of buying power, in exchange for the lowest split here (50%, paid tiers 95% to 99%).
Drawback: rules you do not control, and “stocks” that are not always stocks. Every program here enforces a daily loss limit between 2% and 5% of account size (Table B); breach it once and the attempt or the funded account ends, profits included. A published clause can still cut against you after the fact: FTMO’s forbidden-trading-practices list bars opening a position within two hours of a session close, SabioTrade’s terms let it reduce or withhold a reward for behaviour it alone judges high-risk, and PropShopTrader’s own disclaimer calls the program simulated while its Client Terms describe a live account. Read what you are buying before you buy it: Velotrade’s 77 “stocks” are KuCoin-style perpetual price references, not shares. None of the eleven firms in this post is a broker-dealer, so none offers brokerage-style account protection; a prop firm evaluation is a performance contract with the firm, not a securities account.
The PDT rule and stock prop firms after FINRA Notice 26-10
Many stock prop pages, Trade The Pool’s footer among them, still sell “no PDT rule”. That pitch is obsolete. FINRA Regulatory Notice 26-10 replaced the day-trading margin requirements, including the pattern-day-trader count and the $25,000 minimum, with intraday margin standards effective June 4, 2026, with members allowed to phase in until October 20, 2027. Goat Funded Trader’s own stocks guide already says so.
What limits your day trading at these firms is their own sizing rule: Trade The Pool’s 2% daily pause and overnight buying-power haircut, trader2B’s fixed buying power and $200 to $1,250 daily max loss, PropShopTrader’s 2:1 with a 2.5% trailing daily drawdown, and CFD leverage from 1:2 (FundedNext) to 1:20 (SabioTrade).
“Trailing”, “static” and “intraday” drawdown are not interchangeable, and the wording in Table B comes straight from each firm’s own rule text. A static max loss is fixed to the starting balance and never moves (Lux: 6% static, floor $94,000 on a $100K account, for the life of that evaluation). A trailing max loss rises with your equity high-water mark and can shrink your room even as you profit (The Trading Pit: 5% trailing, calculated end of day). An intraday-trailing or daily loss resets every day against that morning’s balance and is usually the tighter, account-ending limit (SabioTrade 5%; FTMO 2-Step 5% daily vs its 10% static max). PropShopTrader’s Equities Assessment shows why the distinction matters inside one firm: its 2.5% daily drawdown is a hard breach that ends the attempt, but its 2.5% daily profit cap in evaluation is a soft breach, meaning you simply stop earning credit for that day and can keep trading. Mixing those up is the single most common way traders misread a prop firm’s risk rules.
Fees, scaling plans and the platform you trade stocks on at each prop firm
Beyond the entry price in Table B, three more cost lines shape what a payout is actually worth: the trading platform (does it support shares, or only CFDs), per-trade commissions that eat into profit before any split, and whether a reset to try again after a breach costs full price again or less.
| Firm / program | Platform | Commission on stock trades | Reset fee after a breach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trade The Pool | TraderEvolution (desktop, web, mobile) | $0.005/share, $0.75 minimum per filled order | Not published (a paid renewal exists for time-limited MAX evaluations in their final 3 days) |
| The Trading Pit | Volumetrica Web (Desktop and Mobile per help center); DeepCharts | Broker commissions plus exchange fees, amounts not published | Not published |
| trader2B | In-house WebTrader plus desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux) and mobile | $3 per 1,000 shares ($0.003/share) plus pass-through SEC and exchange fees | Required after a max-drawdown breach; fee not published for the free path |
| PropShopTrader | GooeyPro only (“Stocks are not available on Tickblaze or Rithmic”) | Not published | Not published |
| FTMO | MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView | 0.004% per trade on Equities CFD | Not offered; buy a new Challenge at list price |
| Lux Trading Firm | The Lux Trader (TradingView-based) or MT5 | Not published | £139 on a $100K 1-Step |
| FundedNext | MT4, MT5, cTrader or Match-Trader (US: Match-Trader only) | 0.004% per lot (1 lot = 1 share) | $53.99, about 10% below the $59.99 list price of a fresh 2-Step |
| FXIFY | MT5, DXtrade or TradingView | 0.35% round trip on stock CFDs | Not published |
| SabioTrade | QuadCode proprietary Sabio Traderoom | Not published | Not published; no reset product at checkout |
| Goat Funded Trader | TradeLocker or MatchTrader (US); MT5 or cTrader outside the US | $0 per lot on stocks | 93% of the purchase price on Phase 1; +50% on Phase 2; +100% once funded |
| Velotrade | DXtrade (in-house guest access); API included | 0.03% of notional per side, plus 0.05% of notional per night | Not offered; a retry means buying a new challenge |
Scaling plans decide whether a passing score grows your buying power over time or just resets it. Trade The Pool adds 5% buying power and 10% to the daily pause per scale level, capped at $450,000 of total base buying power across all of one trader’s accounts. FundedNext’s Pro scale-up needs four rewards of at least 4% account growth across two-month cycles before the split rises from 80% to 90%, then to 95% with a paid Lifetime Reward add-on. trader2B doubles a funded account’s buying power every time net profit reaches 25% of it, uncapped. Lux Trading Firm’s 1-Step evaluation scales through six stages toward $10,000,000, still capped at an 80% split and a 5%-of-target single-trade profit limit at every stage. Velotrade sells a fixed +20%-of-fee add-on that raises its split from 80% to 90%; Goat Funded Trader’s own +20% add-on raises its 2 Step GOAT split all the way to 100%. Neither is a performance-based scale. SabioTrade publishes no scaling plan at all: its split is fixed by account size (80% up to $50K, 90% from $100K, 95% on its $300K day-trading tariff) from the first reward.
Regulation, licensing and tax treatment at stock prop firms
None of the eleven programs in this post is a broker-dealer, holds FINRA membership, or requires a trader to hold a Series 57 or any other securities license to buy an evaluation: you are buying a performance contract, not opening a brokerage account. trader2B states this most directly in its own footer on every page: “trader2B® is a technology and recruiting firm, not a broker-dealer. The ToroChallenge® is a simulated evaluation using virtual funds only, with no live trading or payouts,” until a passer is separately “recruited by trader2B® or its partners to trade real capital, subject to approval.” That is also-checked Maverick Trading’s model in reverse: Maverick is an application-only options-and-equities firm (not ranked here, since it has no buy-today checkout) that executes through a named partner broker, Interactive Brokers, and pays its traders as 1099-MISC independent contractors rather than employees, with job listings nonetheless advertising a “Salary Range $50K to $200K/yr.” No firm ranked in this post publishes tax guidance for traders. Reward and payout money from a prop firm evaluation is profit-share or contractor income, not wages; none withholds tax, and traders are responsible for reporting what they are paid under their own jurisdiction’s rules. Treat the absence of any tax statement from FTMO, Trade The Pool, FundedNext and the rest as a prompt to keep your own records, not as evidence there is nothing to report.
Worked example: a $50,000 attempt at the two cheapest real-equity firms. The Trading Pit’s Stocks Challenge $25K costs $99 outright; stepping up to its $50K size (the largest it sells) costs $249, with no leverage, a 7% target, a 2% daily pause and a 5% trailing max loss calculated end of day. A funded pass clears a 70/30 split with a first payout gated at three profitable trading days of at least $100 each, a 14-day cycle and a $200 minimum, minus a 1% processing fee. Trade The Pool has no single $50K tier, so the comparable buy is its $5K Day FLEX repeated ten times in spirit, or its closest sized product, Swing Trading FLEX $40K at $1,240 (or MAX $40K at $800): a 6% target, 2% daily pause, 4% max loss, and a 70/30 split (80/20 on its newer Edge accounts) gated at 14 calendar days, three profitable 0.5% days and a minimum of five held positions. At The Trading Pit, scenario B (one reset after a breach) adds a second $249 purchase, since no reset product is published; the same is true at Trade The Pool, where a second evaluation is the only way back in. Pick the size you can actually fund twice, because for both firms failing once means buying the whole evaluation again.
Tier 1 prop firms for stock trading on real US-listed equities
Trade The Pool Day Trading FLEX is a top prop firm for stock trading on real Nasdaq shares, best for 24/5 access and shorts
Verdict: Our #1 among stock programs: the only firm here whose whole product is exchange-listed equity, 12,000+ stocks and ETFs priced off Nasdaq’s order book, 24/5, with no locate fee on hard-to-borrow shorts. Day Trading FLEX $5K is $59 one-time. The funded account is simulated.
Video: “Overnight Trading Now Available (NEW) | Trade The Pool,” Trade The Pool official YouTube channel, 2026-02-01. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: Trade The Pool’s own announcement of the Blue Ocean overnight session, the hours rule this post ranks on.
The Program Terms limit trading to stocks, ETFs and other products “tradeable on Nasdaq”, with Blue Ocean covering about 3,500 names overnight. Day programs are liquidated at 15:50 ET; a position opened after 16:00 can be held to 15:50 the next day on overnight buying power ($100K becomes $16,000). Swing programs hold overnight and weekends. Some shorts allowed in the evaluation “might not be available on the Funded account”.
$100K Day FLEX costs $545 (MAX $435; Edge $100K $266 at 80/20). Profit counts only on trades held 30 seconds with $0.10 of movement and sized under 5% of the prior minute’s volume. The site still says “No PDT rule”; see our PDT note.
Trader sentiment: 859 Trustpilot reviews, 4.4/5. Praise: a stable platform, a wide US stock list with easy shorts, fast support. Complaints: a large payout denied citing copy trading or system manipulation (September 2026), platform freezes, invalidated trades.
- Choose it when: you want real US shares and ETFs with pre-market, after-hours and overnight access, and you short small caps.
- Watch out for: the 30-second, $0.10 and 5%-of-volume validity rules, and a funded short list that can differ from the evaluation.
The Trading Pit Stocks Challenge is a top prop firm for stock trading on unleveraged US shares, best for a cheap $25K entry
Verdict: The cheapest real-equity evaluation we priced: Stocks Challenge $25K is $99 one-time for 9,000+ US stocks, IPOs and ETFs, no leverage. It ranks second because everything is flat at 15:50 ET, the short rule is not published, and Trustpilot has hidden the rating.
Video: “STOCKS IPO – HOW IT WORKS? | The Trading Pit,” The Trading Pit official YouTube channel, 2026-06-16. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: The only video on the firm’s own channel about the stocks product; an IPO explainer, not a rules walkthrough.
It is separate from the firm’s CFD accounts: “You trade the full value of each share”, spreads come “from one exchange’s order book” (not named), and commissions plus exchange fees apply. The terms say every account, funded included, is simulated. The share CFDs on CFD Prime are not offered to US residents; the Stocks Challenge rendered at checkout from a US IP.
$50K is $249 and the largest size. Trades held under a minute or making under $0.10 a share are excluded. Our FTMO vs The Trading Pit comparison covers the CFD side.
Trader sentiment: 1,074 Trustpilot reviews, rating hidden (breach banner). Praise: fast payouts, helpful support agents. Complaints: alleged split cuts and rule changes, accounts closed after hitting the target, disputed fills during a data outage.
- Choose it when: you day-trade liquid US names, want the lowest real-equity entry price, and are flat by the close anyway.
- Watch out for: the hidden Trustpilot rating, no overnight holds, the $50K size cap, and short availability that is not published.
trader2B ToroChallenge is a top prop firm for stock trading on NYSE and Nasdaq shares, best for a free evaluation
Verdict: The only free route here (Free Toro100, $0 for $100K of buying power) and the only real-equity firm that calls its funded stage live, routed via NASDAQ, ARCA and SMART. It names no broker or clearing firm, and professional market data costs $150 to $250 a month once funded.
Video: “Trader2B Funded Account Review: Is It Worth It?,” trader2B official YouTube channel, 2025-06-13. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: The newest video on trader2B’s channel about its funded account; its rules videos date from 2018 and describe a retired lineup.
About 490 approved stocks and ETFs, capped at 50, 100 or 500+ per plan. The funded account starts on your most profitable challenge symbols with the same buying power, doubling each time net profit reaches 25% of it. Toro100 is $199 a month. Three losing days in a row can send you back to a paid challenge.
Trader sentiment: 77 Trustpilot reviews, 3.0/5. Praise: an easy platform, same-day support, the free $100K challenge as a cheap path in. Complaints: free-challenge accounts suspended, dashboard P&L bugs; only 9 reviews in the last 12 months.
- Choose it when: you want to try a real-equity evaluation for $0 and value a funded stage the firm calls live.
- Watch out for: the unnamed counterparty, $150 to $250 a month of pro data taken from payouts, and the three-strikes rule.
PropShopTrader Equities Assessment is a top prop firm for stock trading on 101 approved US equities, best for double buying power
Verdict: A new one-step equities product: 101 approved US symbols on GooeyPro at up to 2:1, $215 for 25K ($161.25 with PST, no expiry shown). It ranks fourth because listings, price feed, hours and shorts are unpublished and the firm’s own documents contradict each other on sim versus live.
Video: “How to Get Funded Fast with PropShopTrader || Pro, Flex, & Direct!,” PropShopTrader official YouTube channel, 2026-09-11. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: PropShopTrader’s channel has no equities video; this is its newest plans overview, which covers the futures programs.
The Client Terms say passers “shall be allocated capital to trade in a live account”; the disclaimer says the program is simulated. A 2.5% daily profit cap in evaluation means at least four days to the 10% target, and the account locks after a payout unless you buy a waiver. More in our PropShopTrader review.
Trader sentiment: 543 Trustpilot reviews, 3.6/5. Praise: fast, helpful support. Complaints: constant rule changes, legacy funded accounts disabled on September 30, 2026, a denied live transition; no equities reviews yet.
- Choose it when: you want 2:1 on a short, liquid list and are flat by 15:55 ET every day.
- Watch out for: the unpublished short rule and symbol list, the lock after payout, and the sim-or-live contradiction.
Tier 2 prop firms for stock trading on stock CFDs
Stocks as CFDs beside forex. For these firms’ forex products, see our forex prop firms for US traders guide.
FTMO Challenge is a top prop firm for stock trading on 59 stock CFDs, best for large-cap day trading outside the US
Verdict: The best-rated firm here (4.8/5) and our top stock CFD pick outside the US: 59 stock CFDs (46 US, such as AAPL, NVDA, TSLA) at 1:3.33 on simulated accounts. FTMO US lists no stock CFDs.
Video: “FTMO 1-Step Challenge Explained: All 4 Rules You Must Know,” FTMO official YouTube channel, 2026-03-22. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: FTMO’s own explainer of the four 1-Step rules; no FTMO video covers stock CFDs.
A funded Standard account must be flat before any break over two hours, so shares are intraday once funded; only a 2-Step Swing account holds overnight, at 1:1. See FTMO rules.
Trader sentiment: 53,372 Trustpilot reviews, 4.8/5. Praise: smooth, prompt payouts, responsive live chat. Complaints: accounts closed for alleged prohibited practices, a post-pass 1% risk-per-idea limit; no stock-specific complaints on page 1.
- Choose it when: you live outside the US and day-trade US mega-caps next to forex.
- Watch out for: the gap-trading ban around earnings and the last two hours of each session.
Lux Trading Firm 1-Step is a top prop firm for stock trading on 163 stock CFDs, best for the widest CFD list
Verdict: The largest stock CFD list here, 163 symbols, in a £199 one-time $100K 1-Step refunded on passing. Lux says funded accounts are A-Book routed, but its terms reserve notional capital with Lux as counterparty.
Video: “Break the retail mindset: How 5% profit cap rule makes you a professional,” Lux Trading Firm official YouTube channel, 2025-11-18. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: Lux’s own video on the 5% single-trade profit cap, the funded rule that most limits payouts.
Leverage is 1:5 on the rules page and 1:10 in the July 2026 symbols PDF. Funded accounts pay 80% whenever in profit, but no single trade may realise more than 5% of the target ($500 on $100K). See Lux payouts.
Trader sentiment: 635 Trustpilot reviews, 3.9/5. Praise: responsive support; recent 5-star reviews are mostly contest winners. Complaints: payout refusals blamed on rule breaches, the risk-consistency rule
