MotiveWave’s free Community edition cannot place trades, so every prop trader on MotiveWave needs a paid edition, and none of the 15 futures prop firms we checked supplies one. Standard, the cheapest edition that trades, leases for $24 a month (Order Flow $49, PRO $99), and we add one Standard month to every account. Ten 50K products pass on the firms’ own pages, all on Rithmic, ranked on MotiveWave cost per $1,000 of loss room (list price, activation, any route or connection fee and a Standard month, divided by the overall loss floor). Among firms that name MotiveWave, The Trading Pit Futures Prime 50K is cheapest at $61.50, DayTraders.com EOD 50K is $67.00 (licence and Mac answered in its own table) and Lucid Trading LucidFlex 50K is $80.00; BluSky ($91.00), TradeDay ($106.50), Phidias ($134.80), Elite Trader Funding ($163.20, MotiveWave named through live capital) and Apex ($371.50) follow. Tradeify Growth 50K ($84.50) and Bulenox Momentum 50K ($118.67) rank below them because Tradeify only allows any Rithmic-compatible platform and Bulenox shows MotiveWave as a logo. OneUp Trader, LeeLoo Trading and Take Profit Trader name MotiveWave but carry floors that follow open profit, Earn2Trade names it only for the evaluation, and Topstep does not sell it. MotiveWave runs on Mac and Linux, but Apex, Bulenox and OneUp Trader route you through Windows-only Rithmic software.

Quick picks among prop firms that use MotiveWave

  • Cheapest MotiveWave seat: The Trading Pit Futures Prime 50K, $61.50 per $1,000 of loss room. $99 one-time; the firm says the licence is yours and offers no platform support.
  • Licence and Mac answered in writing: DayTraders.com EOD 50K, $67.00. Its table marks MotiveWave “License needed” and Mac compatible, with a firm setup guide.
  • MotiveWave on evaluation and funded in the firm’s words: Lucid Trading LucidFlex 50K, $80.00. Its “Lucid Partner” label comes with no licence terms.
  • Lowest entry price: BluSky Launch 50K, $59 for 30 days ($91.00 with the $99 launch fee).
  • Fullest firm setup steps: TradeDay Fast Pass 50K, $106.50, with a direct Rithmic login that needs no Windows program.
  • MotiveWave named through live capital: Elite Trader Funding Direct to Funded 50K, $163.20, with the largest floor ($5,000) and a $45 monthly Rithmic fee.

Why a brand-level “supports MotiveWave” misleads: MotiveWave runs on a firm’s Rithmic route, not on the brand, and only in an edition you usually pay for. At Lucid Trading, BluSky, TradeDay, Phidias, Elite Trader Funding, Apex, Tradeify and The Trading Pit the same 50K account opens MotiveWave on Rithmic and not on Tradovate, CQG or WealthCharts. And at every firm we checked, the edition that can place orders is yours to buy.

Can you trade on MotiveWave at a prop firm, and why the free edition cannot

Prop firms that use MotiveWave: the free edition with a locked order button beside the trading edition with an unlocked order button
The free edition charts but cannot send orders; a paid edition from Standard up can.

MotiveWave is a desktop charting and order-entry platform sold in editions. It does not hold your account; it connects to the data and order route the prop firm gives you, and at every firm in this guide that route is Rithmic. The catch is in MotiveWave’s own quick-start guide: “Community Edition – This free edition is available for anyone with an expired trial. Placing trades is not supported in this edition.” Order entry starts at Standard, whose Live Trading feature reads “Trade with a live account directly with your broker.”

So the honest answer to “can you trade on MotiveWave at a prop firm” is yes, on Standard or higher, on a Rithmic account, at a firm whose pages say MotiveWave works there. The free version charts and simulates orders inside MotiveWave, but it will not send a single order to the firm. The trial makes this easy to miss. MotiveWave’s 14-day trial runs its top edition, then “your license key will automatically switch to the free Community edition”. A trader who starts an evaluation on a trial can lose order entry two weeks in.

This guide is futures only. The forex and CFD firms linked to MotiveWave elsewhere run MT5, cTrader, DXtrade, Match Trader or TradeLocker accounts and do not sell MotiveWave; they are listed further down.

How we ranked prop firms that use MotiveWave

How we ranked the best prop firms that use MotiveWave, a five-step process built from each firm's own pages and dated checks
The five checks behind every ranking in the Prop Trader’s Guide.
15
Futures firms checked
10
Products ranked
0
Supply a trading edition
4
Warned or not ranked
  1. Sources: each firm’s own checkout, platform and setup articles, rules and pricing pages, read October 5, 2026. MotiveWave’s own site is used only for its edition prices and what each edition does; any list of firms on another site is a lead, never proof.
  2. The test, per product: the firm’s own pages say you can trade that product in MotiveWave on the evaluation and on the funded account up to the first payout, and you can buy it today. A firm sentence for the funded stage counts; so does a platform list or login that the firm applies to all its accounts. Silence on the funded stage is not a pass.
  3. Evidence strength: firms that name MotiveWave in text rank first. A firm that allows any platform compatible with its broker, or shows MotiveWave only as a logo, ranks below them with a mark.
  4. Order: MotiveWave cost per $1,000 of loss room, lowest first. One product per firm, the cheapest passing 50K on this number, on list prices.
  5. Warnings, not ranks: a live call-up, a live-stage gap and a hidden Trustpilot rating are named in each firm’s watch-outs. A floor that follows open profit intraday, or a daily loss that ends the account, keeps a product out of the ranking.

MotiveWave cost per $1,000 of loss room = (50K list price of one attempt + activation fee + any surcharge for the Rithmic route + any fee the firm charges for connecting a third-party platform + one month of MotiveWave Standard unless the firm supplies an edition that can trade) ÷ overall maximum-loss floor at its smallest stage up to the first payout × 1,000

Worked example, DayTraders.com: $105 for the EOD 50K, a $5 activation fee, no route surcharge, no connection fee, and $24 for MotiveWave Standard because the firm marks MotiveWave “License needed”. $134 ÷ $2,000 × 1,000 = $67.00. Elite Trader Funding shows how a route fee and a large floor interact: $747 + $45 Rithmic + $24 = $816 on a $5,000 floor, $163.20. The floor is the overall maximum loss, never a daily limit. A fee a firm does not publish is never treated as $0, and a fee whose reach is unclear is included and marked. The Order Flow figure in the second table swaps in the $49 Order Flow lease for footprint and Advanced DOM users; it is shown, never ranked. Full method: how we rank.

Notes on this ranking: Rows 1 to 8 name MotiveWave in text and are ordered by cost. Rows 9 and 10 rank below them whatever their cost, because their evidence is weaker. ‡ Tradeify never names MotiveWave; it allows “any platform compatible with your broker”, and MotiveWave connects to Rithmic. * Bulenox shows MotiveWave only as a logo, and charges $100 a month for connecting to Rithmic through third-party API or composite software without saying whether MotiveWave counts; we include the fee ($74.22 without it). † The firm names MotiveWave for the evaluation and its funded account shares the same login or the same unscoped platform list, so we count MotiveWave once funded without a sentence that says so. § TradeDay’s pages give the Funded Live floor as $1,500 and as $2,000. That stage starts at the fifth payout request, so the ranking uses the $2,000 Funded Sim floor ($142.00 on $1,500). ¶ Monthly products count one month. With a second evaluation month and a second Standard month, BluSky is $132.50, TradeDay $213.00 and Phidias $210.00. The MotiveWave month is the Standard lease at $24, read on MotiveWave’s products page October 5, 2026; no firm supplies an edition that can place trades. The Order Flow figure swaps in the $49 Order Flow lease and is never ranked. Codes never set a rank.

Take the MotiveWave month out and the order of the named firms does not change, because every one of them adds the same $24. What moves the ranking is the account: list price, activation fee and the size of the floor. The Trading Pit wins on a low one-time price, DayTraders.com on a $5 activation fee, and Elite Trader Funding’s $747 price is softened by a $5,000 floor that no other product here matches.

Which MotiveWave edition each prop firm gives you

Search results for MotiveWave prop firms often say the platform is “included” or “free”. On the firms’ own pages, no firm we checked supplies an edition that can place trades. They fall into two groups:

  • Your own licence, in the firm’s words (6): The Trading Pit (“you would have to have your own license”), DayTraders.com (“License needed”), Elite Trader Funding (“Subscription costs for the supported platforms are the trader’s responsibility.”), and three unranked firms: OneUp Trader once funded, Take Profit Trader (its table marks MotiveWave “No” for free during the test) and Earn2Trade (“Other than where noted below, users must provide their own license”).
  • Not published (7): Lucid Trading, BluSky, TradeDay, Phidias, Apex Trader Funding, Bulenox and Tradeify name MotiveWave, or allow it, and say nothing about who pays. TradeDay, Phidias and Bulenox spell out the licence for other platforms on the same pages (a paid Bookmap licence at TradeDay, free Quantower and DeepChart versions at Phidias, a free NinjaTrader licence at Bulenox), which makes the silence on MotiveWave easier to read: you pay.
  • A partner label is not a licence: Lucid Trading lists “MotiveWave (Lucid Partner)” and shows a MotiveWave logo on its homepage, and creator videos claim Lucid traders get MotiveWave free. No Lucid page says so, and the help centre returns nothing for licence or license.
  • A trial is not a licence: Take Profit Trader’s MotiveWave guide notes “You can also request a 14-day free trial by selecting” the trial option on MotiveWave’s site. That is MotiveWave’s offer, and it ends on the free edition that cannot trade.

Take Profit Trader adds a useful detail for anyone who does buy: “The platform credentials and licence key for your PRO account are going to be the same as you used for your test account.” Your MotiveWave licence is tied to you, not to the firm, so it moves with you from evaluation to funded account and from one firm to the next.

What MotiveWave costs at a prop firm

MotiveWave sells six editions, and five of them can place trades. Prices below are from the inline price list on MotiveWave’s products page, read October 5, 2026; leases renew automatically each month, and a bought licence comes with a year of updates and support.

MotiveWave editions, monthly lease and outright prices on motivewave.com, read October 5, 2026.
MotiveWave editionMonthly leaseBought outrightPlaces trades? What it adds
CommunityFreeFreeNoCharts, studies, replay; trade simulation only
Standard$24$245YesLive Trading, mobile app, cloud workspaces
Order Flow$49$595YesOrder flow studies, Advanced DOM, Trade Copier
EW Lite$89$1,395YesStandard plus basic Elliott Wave tools
PRO$99$1,495YesOrder Flow plus Strategy, backtesting, multiple brokers
Ultimate$159$2,295YesPRO plus advanced Elliott Wave tools and scanner

Which one a prop trader needs depends on how you trade. Standard ($24) is enough to chart and place orders on a Rithmic prop account. Order Flow ($49) adds footprint-style order flow studies, the Advanced DOM and the Trade Copier, the tools a DOM or footprint trader looks for. PRO ($99) adds Strategy (automation), strategy backtesting and multiple broker connections at once, and only matters if the firm allows automation at all. Leasing beats buying for a short test: Standard costs $245 outright, which equals about 10.2 months of the $24 lease; Order Flow pays back after about 12.1 months and PRO after about 15.1. Shorter leases are cheaper per month: Standard is $69 for 3 months and $135 for 6.

Firm-side costs for running MotiveWave are rarer than the licence. Elite Trader Funding charges $45 a month for any Rithmic account. Bulenox charges $100 a month for connecting to Rithmic through third-party API or composite software, and does not say whether MotiveWave counts. The other eight ranked firms charge nothing for the Rithmic route or for connecting MotiveWave, and those that also sell a Tradovate version price it the same. Rithmic market depth is optional for MotiveWave and priced separately by each firm; see the order flow section below.

If you already own MotiveWave, prop firm costs without the licence

Many MotiveWave users already pay for an edition. For them the Standard month drops out, and an Order Flow user pays more. The same ten products, three ways:

Cost per $1,000 of loss room with a Standard month, with no licence cost, and with an Order Flow month.

2. DayTraders.com EOD 50K (Rithmic)$67.00$55.00$79.50
3. Lucid Trading LucidFlex 50K, daily loss limit on (Rithmic)$80.00$68.00$92.50

9. Tradeify Growth 50K (Rithmic)$84.50$72.50$97.00
10. Bulenox Momentum 50K Option 2 (EOD)$118.67$108.00$129.78

The Trading Pit stays cheapest in every column among the named firms. With a licence already owned it falls to $49.50, DayTraders.com to $55.00 and Lucid Trading to $68.00. An Order Flow lease adds the most where the floor is smallest: $25 more a month is $12.50 per $1,000 on a $2,000 floor and $5.00 on Elite Trader Funding’s $5,000.

MotiveWave connection routes at prop firms, Rithmic not Tradovate

Every firm in this guide runs MotiveWave on Rithmic. DayTraders.com, Bulenox, OneUp Trader and LeeLoo Trading sell nothing else; the rest sell the same 50K on several routes at one price, and only the Rithmic one runs MotiveWave. MotiveWave also has a CQG connector, but no firm we checked lists MotiveWave on its CQG route: Lucid Trading’s CQG list is NinjaTrader, Tradovate and TradingView, and TradeDay’s is Tradovate, NinjaTrader, TradingView and Jigsaw.

Can you use MotiveWave on a Tradovate prop account? Not at any firm here. MotiveWave has no Tradovate connector, and the firms list MotiveWave only on Rithmic. The route is fixed when you buy: Apex says converting between Rithmic, Tradovate and WealthCharts is not possible, and Tradeify says you cannot switch brokers without buying a new account. Inside the Rithmic connection, the firm decides what you pick as the system or server: “Apex” at Apex (“DO NOT select Rithmic Paper Trading!”), “DayTraders.com” at DayTraders.com, and Rithmic Paper Trading at TradeDay, BluSky, Bulenox, OneUp Trader, LeeLoo Trading and Earn2Trade (BluSky switches to Rithmic 01 once funded). For what each firm’s Rithmic route costs, see our guide to prop firms that use Rithmic, and for the other side, prop firms that use Tradovate.

MotiveWave on Mac and Linux at prop firms

MotiveWave has native builds for all three systems. Its guide lists Microsoft Windows 7 or higher, macOS 10.12.6 or higher and Debian-based Linux such as Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Mint. Whether that helps you depends on the firm’s Rithmic setup, because some firms send every platform through R|Trader Pro, a Windows program.

  • The firm says yes: DayTraders.com (its table marks MotiveWave Mac compatible), Elite Trader Funding (“(Windows, macOS, Linux)” on its platform page) and the unranked LeeLoo Trading (“Motive Wave (Mac, Windows, Linux)”).
  • No Windows step required: BluSky (agreements can be signed on the web, “On a Mac?”), TradeDay (a direct Rithmic option, with R|Trader Pro optional), Lucid Trading (nothing Windows-only published), and the unranked Take Profit Trader and Earn2Trade (web agreement links).
  • Windows in practice: Apex (a Windows virtual machine on a Mac, plus R|Trader Pro plug-in mode), Bulenox (“Please note that Rithmic runs on Windows and is not supported on macOS or ChromeOS.”) and the unranked OneUp Trader (“You must first download Rithmic R | TRADER Pro in conjunction with any other platform you may use.”). Phidias says Windows preferred.
  • Not published: The Trading Pit and Tradeify.

Elite Trader Funding is the one to double-check: its current page lists macOS, an older Elite page we read said Rithmic was not available on macOS, and its MotiveWave guide link uses R|Trader Pro plug-in mode.

MotiveWave at each prop firm stage, evaluation to live

The ranking test stops at the first payout, but a trader who builds a MotiveWave workspace wants to know if it survives a live move. Here is what each ranked firm says:

  • Stated on evaluation and funded: Lucid Trading, through “All listed platforms work with all Lucid account types.” Its live stage is not covered, and sim accounts close when a trader moves live.
  • Stated on live: Elite Trader Funding’s LIVE ELITE names MotiveWave and allows “Data connection: Rithmic-compatible platforms only, for now.” DayTraders.com allows MotiveWave on live with a licence you already own.
  • No live stage: The Trading Pit’s Earning Phase scales buying power instead of moving you to a live account.
  • Funded inferred, live not published: BluSky, TradeDay, Phidias, Apex, Bulenox and Tradeify. Each names or allows MotiveWave for the evaluation, and the funded account uses the same login or an unscoped platform list. Apex adds that live needs a paid licence key for any third-party platform.

Inferred is not the same as stated. If MotiveWave on the funded account matters to you, ask the firm to confirm it in writing before you buy; the cost cells for inferred firms carry a †.

Ranked prop firms that use MotiveWave

Ten 50K products pass. The first eight name MotiveWave in text and run from cheapest to dearest; Tradeify and Bulenox follow with marks. Each block carries the same fields, in the table’s order.

The Trading Pit Futures Prime 50K is the cheapest MotiveWave seat, if you bring your own licence

The Trading Pit’s futures arm settles the licence question in one sentence, the plainest in this guide: “Our trading accounts are also compatible with Sierra Charts, MotiveWave, Jigsaw & Volfix, although for these platforms you would have to have your own license, and we are not able to offer any platform support.” The sentence covers the firm’s trading accounts, not only its challenges, so we count it for the funded Earning Account as well. At $99 one-time, with no activation fee on new accounts and a $2,000 floor that stops at the starting balance, it has the lowest cost per $1,000 of loss room of any firm that names MotiveWave.

Video: no official The Trading Pit video covers its MotiveWave setup, and we do not substitute creator videos.

  • Connection: Rithmic data only. MotiveWave is not a checkout choice, so buy the account with R/Trader Pro as the platform and connect MotiveWave with the emailed Rithmic login. The Tradovate-data version runs Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView, and MotiveWave has no Tradovate connector.
  • Edition: Your own, in the firm’s words, at every stage. We count one $24 Standard month.
  • Stages: Challenge stated; Earning Account inferred from the same sentence; no live stage, because the Earning Phase scales buying power instead.
  • Mac and Linux: Not published. The firm offers no platform support and names no operating system.
  • Cost: $99 one-time (“Price $99 One Time Fee”), $0 activation on new accounts, no route surcharge, $24 for MotiveWave Standard: $123 ÷ $2,000 × 1,000 = $61.50. A reset after a breach brings back the $129 activation fee.
  • Account rules: A $2,000 floor that “will trail based on your End-Of-Day (EOD) balance until it reaches your starting balance, after which it will remain fixed at the starting balance amount.” A $1,000 daily pause on the challenge only, a $3,000 target inside 30 days, and 5 contracts or 50 micros.
  • Payouts: “Traders receive 80% of profits.” “You can request a reward every 7 days.” The first needs 5 profitable days of at least $150, and each withdrawal is capped at half your realized profit, at most $2,500 on 50K.
  • Watch out for: No live stage is published, so there is no call-up to plan for. The trade-offs are support and reputation: the firm offers no help with MotiveWave, and its brand-wide Trustpilot profile sits behind a guidelines-breach banner, with July 2026 reviews describing a $12,720 payout denied after a manual review.
  • Trustpilot: rating hidden behind Trustpilot’s “breach of our guidelines” banner, 1,077 reviews, read October 5, 2026. The Trading Pit profile.

DayTraders.com EOD 50K marks MotiveWave “License needed” and Mac compatible in its own table

DayTraders.com is the only firm whose platform table answers the licence and the Mac question for MotiveWave in a single row: MotiveWav
