We checked eighteen prop firms that South African traders ask about and ranked each on cost per $1,000 of loss room, the list price of the cheapest qualifying $50,000 product plus any activation fee, divided by the smallest overall max-loss dollar figure the product reaches at any stage. Topstep’s Trading Combine is cheapest at $47.50 per $1,000. Alpha Capital Group is the only firm here that names South Africa directly, by name, on its own country-availability page, rather than merely being absent from a restricted list. No ranked firm names a rand payout on its own pages, but six pay through Rise, which lists a South Africa ZAR withdrawal; WorkMarket, the other processor at E8 Markets, pays South Africans by USD wire, not ZAR. South Africa has no prop-firm-specific regulator: the FSCA licenses brokers and crypto-asset providers, never simulated-evaluation sellers. Four firms (My Funded Futures, Apex Trader Funding, Take Profit Trader, Lucid Trading) name South Africa directly as excluded, shown below rather than silently dropped.

Freshness: checked October 3, 2026. Firms change prices, promo codes and terms without notice; confirm current figures on the firm’s own checkout before paying. Each firm’s Trustpilot figure carries its own read date.

Quick picks for South African prop firm traders
- Cheapest per $1,000 of loss room: Topstep Trading Combine, $47.50 per $1,000, on the No Activation Fee path.
- Rand payout to a South African bank: the six ranked firms that pay through Rise (E8 Markets, RebelsFunding (where offered), Alpha Capital Group, FundedNext, The5ers and FXIFY); Rise lists a South Africa ZAR local-currency withdrawal at a $10 fee.
- Only firm that names South Africa directly: Alpha Capital Group, listed by name on the firm’s own Africa country-availability page.
- Keeps South African traders simulated only: Tradeify, sim-funded payouts work, the live Elite Live stage is a firm-wide discretionary call-up, not a country-specific restriction.
- Name South Africa as excluded: My Funded Futures, Apex Trader Funding, Take Profit Trader, Lucid Trading.
Is prop trading legal in South Africa
South Africa has no prop-firm-specific regulator. The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) licenses financial service providers, cryptoasset service providers and OTC derivatives providers; it does not license or register firms that sell simulated-evaluation funded-account products. Buying a prop firm evaluation is not illegal in South Africa, because the firms in this post sell access to a simulated or company-owned trading account rather than an investment product requiring FSCA authorisation. This is factual information, not legal advice; none of the eleven ranked firms, or the cautionary and excluded firms covered below, make an FSCA-regulated claim about themselves on their own South-Africa-facing pages.
That does not mean the money is protected the way a South African-regulated investment firm’s client money is; there is no compensation scheme cover if a firm simply stops paying. Check each firm’s own restricted-countries page yourself before paying, since the test in this post is product-specific, never brand-wide.
How we checked these prop firms for South African traders

- Read each firm’s own restricted-countries page or checkout country selector for South Africa by name, not a worldwide marketing claim.
- Check whether the firm names South Africa as accepted, or publishes a restricted list the page itself presents as complete, with South Africa absent.
- Note the price as the firm shows it; where it is not in rand, convert it at the Frankfurter/ECB reference rate of October 2, 2026 (EUR/USD 1.1225, USD/ZAR 16.734) and disclose the rate and date.
- Identify the payout method that actually reaches a South African bank account, and the currency it pays in.
- Find the smallest overall max-loss dollar figure at any stage, evaluation or funded, and compute cost per $1,000 of loss room from that figure, never a daily loss limit or a per-position floating-loss rule.

| 11. SabioTrade Plus | No checkout block; list non-exhaustive¶ | $289.00 (about R4,836) | $3,000, EOD trailing | $96.33¶ | Bank transfer or crypto wallet | No live stage exists |
Notes on this ranking: Cost per $1,000 is the list price of the cheapest qualifying $50,000 product, plus any activation fee, divided by the smallest overall max-loss dollar figure the product reaches at any stage, evaluation or funded, never a daily loss limit or a per-position floating-loss rule. Non-USD prices are converted at the Frankfurter/ECB reference rate dated October 2, 2026 (EUR/USD 1.1225, USD/ZAR 16.734); no firm in this table shows a ZAR-native price, so every rand figure here is a disclosed conversion, not something the firm itself quotes. † RebelsFunding sells no exact $50,000 size on any of its three main programs; RF Silver’s $80,000 tier is the nearest bracket and is shown here at that size, not $50,000; its cost per $1,000 is comparable because the metric is size-independent, but the absolute price is not apples-to-apples with the other rows. FundedNext publishes no activation fee for Stellar Lite, so its figure is the evaluation fee alone. RF Gold’s $50,000-adjacent sizes ($40,000 at $319, $10,000 at $114) were not independently priced at an exact $50,000 this round. ‡ The5ers’ own $50K size table shows an 8% maximum loss ($4,000), the reading used here. A separate FAQ on the same site states a 10% maximum loss program-wide, which would put the cost at $49.80 per $1,000, level with E8 Markets in second place and ahead of RebelsFunding. § BrightFunded and FTMO price in euros, converted at the rate above. FTMO is ranked on the 1-Step Standard Challenge rather than the 2-Step Standard, because the 1-Step’s lower euro price wins on the metric despite an end-of-day trailing, not static, floor: the 1-Step’s one-time €319 fee is non-refundable, while the 2-Step’s €345 fee is refunded with the first reward, and the 2-Step’s static $5,000 floor works out to $77.45 per $1,000 against the 1-Step’s $71.62. ¶ SabioTrade’s own Restricted Jurisdictions clause is explicitly non-exhaustive (“including but not limited to”), so South Africa’s absence from the named list is not a complete-list confirmation the way it is for every other firm in this table; the live checkout’s lack of a country field or block is the strongest evidence available.
Prop firms with a hidden Trustpilot rating in South Africa
Four of the eleven ranked firms currently show a hidden star rating on Trustpilot, with the platform’s own banner: “This company’s rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines,” usually tied to a note about removed fake reviews. This is stated plainly as a fact about the review platform, never replaced by a firm’s self-claimed score. The four are Alpha Capital Group (21,810 reviews), E8 Markets (3,301 reviews), BrightFunded (572 reviews) and SabioTrade (697 reviews). A hidden rating is not treated as a ranking reason in this post; it is reported here so a buyer can factor it into their own decision.
Topstep is the cheapest product here and never names South Africa on any restriction table
Verdict: First by cost: on the No Activation Fee path, one month of the $50,000 Trading Combine costs $47.50 per $1,000 of loss room, cheapest in this post, and South Africa is absent from both of Topstep’s own eligibility tables.
Video: “What Is a Topstep Express Funded Account (XFA)? | Funded Trader Payouts Explained,” Topstep official YouTube channel, May 14, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: Topstep’s own explainer of the Express Funded Account is the closest official match to the product ranked here.
The No Activation Fee path lists the $50,000 Trading Combine at $95.00 a month (about R1,590 at the October 2, 2026 rate; Topstep shows no rand-native price). The Max Loss Limit is $2,000, trailing end-of-day rather than static: $95.00 / 2 = $47.50 per $1,000 of loss room.
South Africa appears on neither Topstep’s ‘Countries Eligible for an XFA, Not LFA’ table nor its ‘Countries Ineligible to Trade’ table, so a South African resident gets the full program: Combine, Express Funded Account, and the discretionary Live Funded Account call-up, not a stage-limited version of it.
- Price at $50K: $95.00/month list on the No Activation Fee path; $85/month with the optional Responsible Trading Advantage (adds a daily loss limit).
- Max loss floor: $2,000 Max Loss Limit (the One Rule), trailing end-of-day rather than fixed.
- South Africa access: Absent from both the XFA-only table and the fully-ineligible table; full program access, not stage-limited.
- Live call-up: Exists, cannot be declined and stay in the Express Funded Account; the trader’s only choices are moving to Live or closing the account. About 0.71% of XFA participants were called up in 2025.
- Payout to South Africa: No ZAR rail. The only method reaching a South African account is international Wire/SWIFT, USD-settled, $30 fee, 5-10 business days; Topstep’s faster rails (Wise, Prop-to-Brokerage, Aeropay) are restricted to China/Canada/UK or US banks only.
- First watch-out: Wise, the next-cheapest rail after Wire, is restricted to China, Canada and the UK; South Africa is absent from Wise’s named countries, so the $30 Wire fee and 5-10 day wait is the only route.
- Best for: a South African futures trader who wants the cheapest product in this post and full program access with no stage limitation.
- Trustpilot: 3.6/5 on 14,892 reviews. Topstep profile, TopstepX platform tool.
E8 Markets is second by cost and pays South Africans by USD wire or through Rise
Verdict: Second by cost: E8 Pro with the 10% maximum loss option costs $249.00 and buys $49.80 per $1,000 of loss room, and E8 Markets pays through two processors, a WorkMarket (Hyperwallet) wire in USD, EUR, GBP or AUD, or Rise, which lists a ZAR withdrawal to a South African bank. Its separate futures arm names South Africa as excluded; this finding covers only E8 Pro, the Forex/Crypto product.
Video: “Consistency Rule Explained in 2 minutes (Best Day rule),” E8 Markets official YouTube channel, May 21, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: E8’s own rules explainer covering the consistency rule is the closest official video; no South-Africa-specific cut exists.
E8 Pro with the 10% maximum loss option lists at $249.00 for a $50,000 account (about R4,167 at the October 2, 2026 rate; E8’s checkout reads in USD only). The $5,000 maximum loss (10%) is static. $249.00 / 5 = $49.80 per $1,000 of loss room. E8 publishes no activation fee: “All fees are one-time fees. There is no activation fee or subscription fee.” The same E8 Pro account sold with an 8% maximum loss lists at $228.00 ($57.00 per $1,000) and with a 6% maximum loss at $218.00 ($72.67 per $1,000), so the 10% option is the cheapest per $1,000 of loss room. The 2.5% daily drawdown ($1,250 at $50,000) is the same on all three options.
E8’s Forex/Crypto restricted-countries list (help.e8markets.com) does not name South Africa. A SEPARATE Futures restricted-countries list (helpfutures.e8markets.com) DOES name South Africa explicitly; that futures arm is excluded for South Africa and is not the product ranked here.
- Price at $50K: $249.00 one-time for a $50,000 E8 Pro account with the 10% maximum loss option (code E8 shows $187.00 on a first order, no end date shown).
- Max loss floor: $5,000 static maximum loss (10%).
- South Africa access: Absent from the Forex/Crypto restricted-countries list; the separate Futures arm names South Africa as excluded (not this product).
- Live call-up: No live stage or discretionary call-up exists at all; every E8 account, including ‘Performance,’ stays a simulated demo account.
- Payout to South Africa: Fiat-to-South-Africa-bank available two ways: a WorkMarket/Hyperwallet wire in USD, EUR, GBP or AUD (WorkMarket’s fee table, updated July 9, 2026, lists no ZAR option for South Africa) at a 2% fee (minimum $10, maximum $30) plus a 2-3 percent exchange fee on non-USD currencies, or Rise, which lists a South Africa ZAR local-currency withdrawal at a $10 fee.
- First watch-out: E8 Futures, a separate product, explicitly bans South Africa by name; never buy that arm as a South African resident even though E8 Pro (Forex/Crypto) is open.
- Best for: a South African trader who wants the second-cheapest product here with a choice of two payout processors, a USD wire through WorkMarket or a rand withdrawal through Rise.
- Trustpilot: rating hidden (“breach of our guidelines” banner), 3,301 reviews. E8 Markets profile, rules, payouts.
RebelsFunding’s live checkout accepted South Africa directly, though it sells no exact $50,000 size
Verdict: Third: RF Silver 2-Phase’s $420 at $80,000 buys $52.50 per $1,000 of loss room; South Africa is selectable at the firm’s own live checkout with no block, VAT handling, or warning, though RebelsFunding publishes no restricted-countries page at all to confirm this against.
Video: No official RebelsFunding video was found on a time-boxed channel search; the field is left blank rather than substituting an unrelated clip.
RF Silver’s live guest checkout, read today with South Africa selected as billing country: the order currency switched to EUR, VAT was set to 0% for ‘ZA,’ and the phone country code auto-set to +27, with no block message and the same four payment methods staying available. The $8,000 Overall Drawdown (10% of the $80,000 size) is fixed from the initial size: $420 / 8 = $52.50 per $1,000 of loss room.
RebelsFunding publishes no restricted-countries or eligibility-by-country page anywhere on its site; the only country-related control found anywhere in its Terms, Program Rules, KYC or AML pages is a general sanctions-and-jurisdiction line that names no countries. This post uses the live checkout’s acceptance of South Africa as its strongest evidence, not a complete-list confirmation.
- Price at $80K (nearest size to $50K): $420 one-time at the $80,000 RF Silver 2-Phase size (no exact $50,000 tier exists on this program).
- Max loss floor: $8,000 fixed Overall Drawdown (10% of the $80,000 initial size), includes closed and floating P&L.
- South Africa access: No restricted-countries page exists; South Africa was selectable at a live checkout with no block, VAT handled for ‘ZA.’
- Live call-up: Not published; no discretionary live-interview or call-up step was found anywhere in the Program Rules, FAQ, KYC or AML pages.
- Payout to South Africa: Not published for South Africa specifically. RiseWorks, a supported cryptocurrency, or bank transfer are named generically, with no South-Africa-specific rail, fee or minimum beyond the firm-wide $50 floor; where RiseWorks is offered, Rise lists a South Africa ZAR local-currency withdrawal at a $10 fee.
- First watch-out: No written payout guarantee exists for South Africa the way it does at some other ranked firms; the Kora/EUR-currency checkout behavior is the strongest evidence of access, not a confirmed rail.
- Best for: a South African trader who wants an unlimited-time, up-to-90%-split 2-step evaluation and has confirmed the $80,000 size works for their budget, since no exact $50,000 tier exists.
- Trustpilot: 4.3/5 on 2,781 reviews. no BestProps profile exists yet for this firm.
Alpha Capital Group is the only firm here that names South Africa directly, by name, on its own page
Verdict: Fourth: $267.00 for the Alpha Pro 10% 2-Step buys $53.40 per $1,000 of loss room, the cheapest of the firm’s own eight 2-Step/1-Step/instant variants, and South Africa is named directly in the firm’s own Africa country-availability list, not merely absent from a restricted one.
Video: “Skip the Evaluation. Keep 90%. Start from Day 1. ⚡,” Alpha Capital Group official YouTube channel, July 26, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: A skip-the-evaluation promo video from Alpha Capital Group’s own channel is the closest official match.
The Alpha Pro 10% 2-Step lists at $267.00 for a $50,000 account (about R4,468 at the October 2, 2026 rate; no rand price is shown anywhere on the site). The 10% static maximum drawdown ($5,000) is fixed from the initial balance: $267.00 / 5 = $53.40 per $1,000 of loss room, the cheapest of Alpha Capital Group’s eight $50K variants on this metric.
Alpha Capital Group’s own official country-availability resource lists ‘South Africa’ directly in its Africa (45) region block, among 203 countries and territories at checkout; the firm’s separate countries-with-limitations help article (24 excluded names) does not name South Africa either. This is the strongest South Africa finding in this post: named, not merely absent from a list.
- Price at $50K: $267.00 one-time for a $50,000 Alpha Pro 10% account (code ALPHA20 cuts it 20%).
- Max loss floor: $5,000 static maximum drawdown (10%), fixed from the initial balance.
- South Africa access: Named directly in the firm’s own Africa (45) country-availability list; also absent from the 24-country limitations list.
- Live call-up: Exists; a trader can decline the live Alpha Prime program and keep their final payout, only their relationship with the Alpha Group ends. Triggers: $40,000 single payout, five payouts from one account, or $100,000 lifetime payouts.
- Payout to South Africa: No ZAR price anywhere on the site despite the direct South Africa naming; methods are Rise, Wise, Bank Transfer (WIRE/ACH/SWIFT) and crypto via Rise, and Rise lists a South Africa ZAR local-currency withdrawal at a $10 fee, the route that reaches a South African bank in rand.
- First watch-out: No ZAR price exists anywhere on the site and Alpha’s own payout page names no rand option; even a Rise ZAR withdrawal converts from USD, so a South African trader bears the FX-conversion cost and timing risk on every payout despite the firm naming the country directly.
- Best for: a South African trader who wants the one firm in this post that names the country directly on its own page, and the deepest static floor among Alpha Capital Group’s own 2-Step variants.
- Trustpilot: rating hidden (“breach of our guidelines” banner), 21,810 reviews. Alpha Capital Group profile, payouts, status.
FundedNext’s standard CFD line is open to South Africa, with the largest Trustpilot count here
Verdict: Fifth: $229.99 for Stellar Lite buys $57.50 per $1,000 of loss room on a static floor, and South Africa is absent from FundedNext’s standard CFD restricted-countries article, confirmed on the Stellar product line, not a crypto-scoped one.
Video: “How to Withdraw Profit from Your FundedNext Account Explained | Prop Trading Guides,” FundedNext official YouTube channel, October 23, 2023. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: FundedNext’s own withdrawal explainer is the closest official video to this product.
Stellar Lite lists at $229.99 for a $50,000 account (about R3,849 at the October 2, 2026 rate; FundedNext shows no rand-native price). The 8% Maximum Loss Limit ($4,000) is static, with a 4% daily loss limit and profit targets of 8% then 4%. $229.99 / 4 = $57.50 per $1,000 of loss room, on the evaluation fee alone, because FundedNext publishes no activation fee for this account. The Stellar 2-Step costs $299.99 for a static $5,000 floor ($60.00 per $1,000), so Stellar Lite is the cheaper of the two per $1,000. The trade-off: Stellar Lite refunds its fee only with the third Performance Reward, while the 2-Step refunds it with the first.
South Africa is absent from FundedNext’s CFD restricted-countries article (a 20-country named list) and from the Bank Transfer payout-exclusion list; the standard Stellar line reaches both a funded (simulated) stage and a fiat payout rail for South African residents.
- Price at $50K: $229.99 one-time for a $50,000 Stellar Lite account; no promo at this size and no activation fee published.
- Max loss floor: $4,000 static Maximum Loss Limit (8%).
- South Africa access: Absent from the CFD restricted-countries article (20 named countries) and the Bank Transfer exclusion list.
- Live call-up: No live call-up exists on the CFD line; the only ‘live’ step is an optional transfer of an already-paid reward to sister broker FNmarkets, a payout-routing choice, not a forced stage change.
- Payout to South Africa: Fiat-to-South-Africa-bank available via Bank Transfer in USD; FundedNext’s own pages name no rand option, but RiseWorks is also offered, and Rise lists a South Africa ZAR local-currency withdrawal at a $10 fee.
- First watch-out: No ZAR-native price or payout option exists anywhere on the site; a South African trader pays in USD and is paid in USD (converted to rand by the trader’s bank or through a Rise ZAR withdrawal), absorbing FX conversion both ways.
- Best for: a South African trader who wants a live-confirmed, unrestricted standard CFD evaluation with the largest, most-reviewed support operation of any firm in this post.
- Trustpilot: 4.5/5 on 80,702 reviews. FundedNext profile, rules, payouts.
The5ers is open to South Africa, though its own pages disagree on the size of its floor
Verdict: Sixth on the size table’s own 8% reading: $249.00 buys $62.25 per $1,000 of loss room, and South Africa is absent from The5ers’ restricted-countries list and its Forbidden Territory clause alike.
Video: “Interview with a trader: Total Payouts of $31,246,” The5ers official YouTube channel, May 23, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: A trader-interview
