Legends Trading Rules: EOD Drawdown, Consistency Rule, Scaling Plan and News

Review the documented rules, source notes, tools, and account checks recorded for Legends Trading Rules: EOD Drawdown, Consistency Rule, Scaling Plan and News.

Document-based research and editorial review. Last reviewed October 11, 2026 39 min read

Rules can change: The firm or platform controls the current wording. Confirm the linked source and your dashboard before you trade or request a payout.

Legends Trading rules for every account the firm sells or still supports: the monthly Apprentice evaluation, the one-time-fee Elite evaluation, the Apprentice Master and Elite Master funded accounts, the live program, and the legacy accounts some traders still hold. Legends (The Legends Trading Group, Inc., Calabasas, California) runs simulated futures accounts on Tradovate or Rithmic. On the surface its rules are short: an end-of-day (EOD) trailing drawdown, no daily loss limit in either evaluation, and an Apprentice evaluation you can pass in one day. The rules that decide most outcomes sit one layer down: a 35% or 40% consistency rule depending on the plan, a drawdown that only stops trailing at the starting balance plus $100, a daily loss limit that appears once an Elite account is funded, a scaling plan that cuts your contract limit after you pass, strict cross-account hedging and exposure formulas, a mandatory flat-by-3:55 pm CT close, and a winning-day count on every payout. This page sets out each rule with dollar values for every size, worked examples, four calculators, the live-account rules, and the places where Legends’ own pages disagree.

Checked October 11, 2026. BestProps read the Legends Trading homepage, plans page, about page and terms, and every public article in its help centre (knowledge.thelegendstrading.com), on that date. The rule articles below are cited with the “updated” date Legends shows on each one. BestProps did not buy an account, so how the dashboard displays the drawdown, how reviewers judge hedging, flipping and exposure in practice, and anything shown only after login were not verified by purchase. Where Legends’ pages disagree, this page shows both versions and says which one it uses.

Account Picker

Choose your Legends account. The result lists the published rule values and the rule most likely to catch you out on that account.

What can trip you up

EOD trailingEvery account uses an end-of-day trailing max loss. The floor rises when a day closes at a new high, never falls, and on an Apprentice Master stops at the starting balance plus $100.
No evaluation DLLNeither the Apprentice nor the Elite evaluation has a daily loss limit. The Elite Master account does: $700 to $3,000 by size.
35% or 40%Apprentice Master payouts need a best day under 35% of profit. Elite needs 40% in the evaluation and on every Elite Master payout.
Flat by 3:55 pm CTPositions must be closed before the end-of-day liquidation time (3:55 pm CT for index, energy, metals, rates and FX futures). No overnight or weekend holds on simulated accounts.

Rows To Inspect First

These are the rules Legends’ own pages say end accounts or block payouts, and the ones traders who only read the plan cards tend to miss. The labels explain why each row is surfaced; they are not a recommendation to buy or avoid any account.

The plan cards show old Apprentice rules

The plans page still lists a 25K Apprentice, 4 minimum days, 30% consistency and up to 17 contracts. Those match the help centre’s article marked LEGACY. The January 26, 2026 update says the current Apprentice is 50K to 150K, one day, no evaluation consistency and 2 to 6 minis.

Hedging counts across all your accounts

Long NQ in one account and short MNQ in another for 10 seconds or more is a hedging violation. So is long YM against short ES, or long silver against short gold. Outcomes run from a warning to permanent closure.

account closureall accounts

Elite Master contracts drop after you pass

An Elite 50K evaluation allows 4 minis, but the Elite Master scaling plan starts at 2 minis until you are $1,000 in profit. Trading evaluation size on day one of a Master account can be an exposure violation.

Legends Trading Rule Checks

Rule areaOfficial-source snapshotWhat to verify
Max loss (EOD trailing drawdown)
end of day, hard breach
Apprentice: $2,000 / $3,000 / $4,500 on 50K / 100K / 150K. Elite: $1,250 / $2,200 / $3,000 / $4,500 on 25K / 50K / 100K / 150K. Calculated “at the end of each trading day”.On an Apprentice Master the trail stops at the starting balance plus $100. Legends does not publish where the Elite Master trail stops. Breaching an evaluation needs a reset; breaching a Master liquidates it.

none in evaluations
No daily loss limit in the Apprentice or Elite evaluation, and none on an Apprentice Master. Elite Master: $700 / $1,200 / $2,000 / $3,000.Hitting the Elite Master limit liquidates the day; the account “will be unlocked the following session”. The homepage headline “No daily loss limit” does not cover Elite Master accounts.

Consistency rule
35% Apprentice Master / 40% Elite
Apprentice evaluation: none. Apprentice Master: best day under 35% of total profit. Elite evaluation and Elite Master: no day above 40% of total profit. Not a breach: if a big day breaks the rule you keep trading until the total is large enough. The FAQ words the Apprentice rule as 35% of the profit target, the stricter reading.

How a Legends Account Moves From Evaluation to Master to Live

Legends calls itself “a Sim to Fund / Evaluation service”. Every stage before the live account is simulated. The order of stages is the same for both plans:

  1. Buy an evaluation and pick a connection. Choose Apprentice (billed every 30 days) or Elite (one-time fee), a size, and Tradovate or Rithmic. “Plan types, plan sizes and data connections CANNOT be changed after purchase.”
  2. Pass the evaluation. Hit the profit target without touching the EOD trailing max loss, stay inside the contract limit, and on Elite keep every day under 40% of profit. Apprentice needs 1 trading day; Elite in practice needs 3 profitable days.
  3. Activate the Master account. Apprentice traders activate the Master from the Accounts page and pay a one-time activation fee ($99 / $129 / $149 for 50K / 100K / 150K, per the help centre). Elite traders “graduate immediately” with no activation fee.
  4. Earn payouts on the Master. Meet the profit target or buffer, the winning-day count and the consistency rule, then request through the dashboard. Payouts go through Rise at a 90/10 split, capped per request.
  5. Move to live, if selected. After 5 payouts across accounts, 3 in one account, $30,000 in simulated payouts, or at the Risk Desk’s discretion. Promotion forfeits all simulated accounts.
