FundedFirm rules for the 1 Step, 2 Step, Instant and Instant Daily accounts, with the rules that end accounts first. FundedFirm is a forex and CFD prop firm on MetaTrader 5. Its drawdown limits look ordinary (3% daily and 6% overall on 1 Step, 5% and 10% on 2 Step, trailing limits on the two Instant accounts), but most account losses people describe publicly come from three other rules: a cap on how much one trade may lose, a 5x lot-size ceiling set by the smallest trade you have ever placed on a pair, and a payout-time check on how much of your profit came from one trade. This page covers every published rule, the old 30% rule FundedFirm removed in 2025, the consistency rule, the drawdown maths for every account size, and the places where FundedFirm’s own pages disagree.

Checked October 11, 2026. Every value here was read on that date from FundedFirm’s Trading Rules page (all four account tabs), its FAQ, homepage challenge cards, checkout configurator and Terms, plus archived copies of the old rules page for the rule history. BestProps did not buy an account, so dashboard behaviour and how the risk team applies discretionary rules were not verified by purchase.

Account Picker

Choose your FundedFirm account. The result lists the published rule values and the rule most likely to catch you out on that account.

What can trip you up

3% / 6%1 Step daily drawdown and fixed overall drawdown. 2 Step uses 5% and 10%.
40% / 1%Most one trade may lose: 40% of the daily limit on 1 and 2 Step, 1% of the account on Instant and Instant Daily.
5x base lotNo trade may exceed 5 times the smallest lot you have ever opened on that pair. Permanent breach.
20% / 15%Most of a payout one trade may supply on Instant and Instant Daily. 1 and 2 Step review at 80%.

Rows To Inspect First

These are the rules FundedFirm’s pages say end an account or block a payout, and the ones that recur in public complaints. The labels explain why each row is surfaced; they are not a recommendation to buy or avoid any account.

One small trade sets your lot ceiling

Your base lot on a pair is the smallest lot you have ever opened on it, and no trade may be more than 5 times that. One 0.01 test trade on XAUUSD caps every later XAUUSD trade at 0.05 lots. Breaking it is a permanent breach, and it is checked after the fact.

hard breachper instrument

One trade may not lose much

On 1 Step a single trade may not lose more than 40% of the 3% daily limit, which is 1.2% of the account ($120 on $10,000). On Instant and Instant Daily the cap is 1% of the account. Trades on the same pair and direction within 3 minutes count as one trade.

hard breachfloating loss counts

Instant limits now trail

Instant accounts bought from September 1, 2026 use a 3% daily line and a 5% overall line that both follow your equity highs, open profit included. A winning trade you let fall back can breach an account that never closed a loss.

FundedFirm Rule Checks

Rule areaOfficial-source snapshotWhat to verify + evidence
Daily drawdown
3% / 5%, reset 10 PM UTC
1 Step: 3%, 2 Step: 5%, of the higher of your starting balance or starting equity at the beginning of the trading day. The limit is fixed for the day and does not rise with intraday profit. Floating and closed losses both count. The day resets at 10 PM UTC. Carrying floating profit into the reset raises the day’s starting equity, so the limit is set from the higher figure. FundedFirm’s example: $510 balance plus $10 floating gives $520, a 3% limit of $15.60 and a floor of $504.40.

Overall drawdown (1 and 2 Step)
6% / 10% fixed
Fixed at 6% (1 Step) or 10% (2 Step) of the initial balance. Equity must stay above 94% or 90% of the starting amount at all times; the floor does not move up with profit. The FAQ describes the 6% as “of your starting or trailing balance”. The rules page, which is the more specific source, says fixed. This page follows the rules page.

Instant drawdown
3% daily / 5% overall, trailing
From September 1, 2026, new Instant accounts use a trailing daily line (3% of where the day opened, moving up with each new intraday equity high) and a trailing overall line (5% of the starting balance, following the all-time equity high, never resetting).Instant accounts bought before September 1 keep the fixed 3% daily and 5% overall calculation, unless they are reset after a payout, which converts them to trailing.

Instant Daily drawdown
3% daily / 4% overall + 1% floating
Trailing from day one: a 3% daily floor that trails intraday highs and resets each day, a 4% overall line that trails the all-time equity high, and a separate rule that combined open loss may never exceed 1% of the account. On a $3,000 account the open-loss cap is $30, across everything you hold. If a gap takes you through both lines at once, FundedFirm records a daily drawdown breach.

Per-trade loss cap
40% of daily / 1% of account
On 1 and 2 Step, no single trade may lose more than 40% of the daily loss limit ($120 on a $10,000 1 Step, $200 on a $10,000 2 Step). On Instant, no trade may lose more than 1% of the account size.Positions on the same symbol and direction opened within 3 minutes are added together. On Instant, a single position inside that window losing more than 1% is a violation even if other entries offset it. Breach is permanent.

5x base-lot rule
5 x smallest lot, per pair
The smallest lot you have ever opened on a pair is your base lot. No trade on that pair may be more than 5 times it. Going smaller is allowed but pulls the ceiling down with it.Checked separately for each instrument. Applies on 1 Step, 2 Step and Instant; the Instant Daily tab does not list it. Breach is permanent.

20% / 15% / 80% review

Instant Daily: 15% of the payout profit. 1 and 2 Step: accounts where 80% or more of profit came from one trade may be reviewed and reset. This is FundedFirm’s consistency rule. It replaced the old 30% rule removed in August 2025. The 3-minute grouping applies here too.

How FundedFirm’s Accounts Work

FundedFirm LTD says it is registered in Saint Lucia and has operated since 2023. You pay a one-time fee for an account; there is no monthly fee. On the 1 Step and 2 Step accounts you trade an evaluation on a simulated MetaTrader 5 account, and if you hit the target without breaking a rule you are moved to a funded account, typically within 24 to 48 hours. The two Instant accounts skip the evaluation and are funded from the day you buy them, in exchange for tighter limits and a lower profit share. You never deposit trading capital and, per the FAQ, cannot lose more than the fee: the account never goes into a negative balance.

FundedFirm’s footer says it offers “skill-based evaluations using simulated trading accounts only”, while its risk disclosure says funded accounts may be “backed by real capital”. Payouts are paid in money either way; what this changes for you is mostly that execution and slippage on the funded account follow FundedFirm’s own feed. Fees are non-refundable under the Terms, although the 1 and 2 Step rules promise a fee refund with your 4th payout.

FundedFirm 1 Step Rules

One evaluation phase with a 10% target, at least 3 trading days and no time limit, then the same loss rules on the funded account. The tight part is the per-trade cap: 40% of a 3% daily limit means no trade may lose more than 1.2% of the account.

AccountDaily limit (3%)Overall floor (6% fixed)Most one trade may loseTarget (10%)Price Oct 11

$100,000$3,000$94,000$1,200$10,000$549 (list $649)
  • The daily limit is worked out from the higher of balance or equity at 10 PM UTC, so on a profitable day the next day’s limit grows slightly; the overall floor never moves.
  • On $10,000 you need $1,000 profit. With a $120 per-trade loss cap, a strategy that risks 1% ($100) per trade fits; one that risks 1.5% does not.
  • Leverage is 1:100 on forex, metals, indices and energies and 1:50 on crypto; no swap or commission is charged.
  • Add-ons at checkout change payout terms (100% lifetime monthly payout, biweekly 80%, weekly) and offer a one-time reset within 7 days; the drawdown rules stay the same.

  • FundedFirm’s worked example: a $500 day start allows $25; with $510 balance and $10 floating the next day starts at $520, a $26 limit and a $494 floor.
  • The checkout lets you pick a 10% profit target instead of 8% for 10% off ($472.50 instead of $525 on $100K). Read the rule panel before paying to see which phase it changes.
  • Weekly and biweekly payout add-ons are sold only on the $5K to $25K sizes.

No evaluation and no profit target. To be paid you need 5 profitable days (each at least 0.5% of the account), at least 1% net profit, and no trade supplying more than 20% of the payout. • Trailing overall line: on $500 it starts at $475 and follows your all-time equity high, so at $520 it is $495 for good. It never resets.
