E8 Futures Rules: Drawdown, Consistency Rule, Scaling Plan and Payout Limits

Review the documented rules, source notes, tools, and account checks recorded for E8 Futures Rules: Drawdown, Consistency Rule, Scaling Plan and Payout Limits.

Rules can change: The firm or platform controls the current wording. Confirm the linked source and your dashboard before you trade or request a payout.

E8 Futures rules for the three futures accounts E8 Markets sells: E8 Signature, E8 Zero Starter and E8 Zero Max. All three are one-phase simulated challenges traded on Tradovate. You pass by hitting a profit target without touching an end-of-day (EOD) trailing drawdown, then trade a “SimFi Performance” account that pays out under its own rules. The rules that end or stall accounts differ by product: Zero has a 40% best-day rule during the challenge and a drawdown that keeps trailing until your first payout, while Signature has no consistency rule to pass but adds a 2% daily pause, a 35% best-day rule, a buffer and payout caps once funded. Every account is flat by 3:10 PM Central Time, cannot be held overnight or over the weekend, and must not run bots or tick-scalp. This page sets out each rule with dollar values by account size, worked examples, three calculators, the contract-scaling ladder E8 uses instead of a balance scaling plan, the October 1, 2026 rule change, and the places where E8’s own pages disagree.

Checked October 11, 2026. BestProps read the E8 Markets futures help centre (helpfutures.e8markets.com, the one that applies to futures accounts; the separate classic-markets help centre has different rules), the account configurator and discount page on e8futures.com, and the E8 Funding LLC terms on that date. Several futures articles were marked “Updated this week”. BestProps did not buy an account, so how the dashboard applies a rule, how the risk team reviews a trader, and anything shown only after login were not verified by purchase. Where E8’s pages disagree, this page shows both versions and says which one it plans to.

What can trip you up

EOD trailingThe loss level rises only on closed profit at the end of the day and stops at the starting balance. In the Zero challenge it never stops trailing.
40% / 35%Zero: no day above 40% of the profit target in the challenge. Signature: best day no more than 35% of profit before each payout.
2% daily pauseSignature funded accounts only. A soft limit: trading stops until 00:00 server time, the account stays open.
3:10 PM CT closeEvery open futures position is closed at 15:10 Central Time. No overnight or weekend holds on any E8 futures account.

Rows To Inspect First

These are the rules E8’s own pages say end accounts, cost payouts, or changed recently. The labels explain why each row is surfaced; they are not a recommendation to buy or avoid any account.

The October 1, 2026 change

Accounts bought after October 1, 2026 (17:00 UTC) get fewer payouts per account (4 instead of 5), lower Signature payout caps, and a $4,000 rather than $4,500 drawdown on Signature 150K. Check your purchase date before using any table.

Touching the loss level is final

If equity or balance reaches the EOD loss level, the account is closed for good. The automatic close can finish above the line and the account is still breached.

Holding under 10 seconds

At least 50% of all profit must come from trades held 10 seconds or longer. Bots, AI tools, more than 300 trades a day and trading anything but the front-month contract are also banned.

E8 Futures Rule Checks

Rule areaOfficial-source snapshotWhat to verify
EOD dynamic drawdown
$1,000 to $6,000 by size
Signature: $1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000 on 25K / 50K / 100K, and $4,000 on 150K (bought after October 1, 2026) or $4,500 (bought before). Zero: $1,000 / $1,500 / $3,000 / $3,990 / $6,000 on 25K to 200K. The loss level is the highest end-of-day balance minus that amount. It updates once a day at market close on closed profit only, then locks at the starting balance once closed profit equals the drawdown or you take a first payout. In the Zero challenge it does not lock.

Daily pause
Signature funded only, 2%
2% of the initial balance as a fixed dollar amount: $500 / $1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000. The pause line is the day’s starting balance minus that amount. Reaching it stops trading until 00:00 server time.It is a soft limit, not a breach. Closing is not instant at the line, and E8 does not rebalance if slippage takes you past 2%. Zero has no daily limit at any stage.

Contract limits and scaling
margin method
Signature: 2 / 4 / 8 / 12 contracts. Zero challenge: 3 / 4 / 8 / 10. Zero performance starts at 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 and scales twice, after 1.5% and 3% locked profit. One contract = $10,000 of allowed margin, so 1 mini equals 10 micros. There is no balance-based scaling plan on futures. The Zero contract ladder applies from the next trading day after the profit is locked at the end of the day.

E8 Signature vs E8 Zero: Which Rule Book You Are On

E8 Markets sells futures through e8futures.com with its own futures help centre. Classic-market (forex and CFD) and perpetual-futures accounts use a different help centre and different rules; BestProps covers those on the E8 Markets rules page. The futures configurator offers three products, all one phase and all with no activation fee:

Zero Starter and Zero Max have identical trading rules; Max costs more and has larger payout caps. E8 describes Signature as its cheapest one-step product with “softer rules”, and Zero as the product with the fewest payout restrictions. Profit Targets and the 40% Best-Day Rule in the Zero Challenge

$50,000$3,0006%$1,2003 trading days

$150,000$9,0006%$3,6003 trading days
$200,000$13,5006.75%$5,4003 trading days

The 40% rule does not fail the account. If one day goes over 40% of the target, the target rises to best day / 0.40. E8’s own example on a $6,000 target: days of $2,500, $2,000 and $1,500 add up to $6,000, but the $2,500 day is over the $2,400 cap, so the target becomes $6,250 and you must keep trading without beating $2,500 until total profit reaches it. Days of $2,400, $2,400 and $1,200 pass, because a day exactly at 40% is allowed.

Best day on a 100K Zero ($6,500 target)Allowed (40% = $2,600)?Effective target
$2,000Yes$6,500
$2,600Yes (exactly 40%)$6,500
$3,000No$7,500
$4,000No$10,000
$6,500 (target in one day)No$16,250

Signature has a 6% target and no best-day rule in the challenge, so it can be passed in one day: $1,500 on 25K, $3,000 on 50K, $6,000 on 100K, $9,000 on 150K. The target counts closed profit only. After passing, the performance account usually arrives in 30 to 90 minutes; a document re-check can take up to 24 hours. E8 Futures Drawdown: How the EOD Dynamic Drawdown Works

Every E8 futures account uses an EOD dynamic drawdown. E8’s formula is highest end-of-day balance – drawdown amount = loss level. The level moves only when a day closes with a higher balance than before, and only on closed profit; open profit during the day does not move it (“We count what you keep, not what you almost had”). But the account breaches if equity or balance reaches the level at any moment, including intraday.

AccountDrawdownStarting loss levelLocks atLocks when
Signature 25K$1,000$24,000$25,000Closed profit reaches $1,000, or first payout

Signature 150K (bought before Oct 1, 2026)$4,500$145,500$150,000Closed profit reaches $4,500, or first payout
Zero 25K$1,000$24,000$25,000First payout only
Zero 50K$1,500$48,500$50,000First payout only
Zero 100K$3,000$97,000$100,000First payout only
Zero 150K (Starter)$3,990$146,010$150,000First payout only
Zero 200K (Max)$6,000$194,000$200,000First payout only

The Zero difference. E8 says the lock “does not apply in the challenge of E8 Zero”: there the loss level keeps rising with every new end-of-day high, with no ceiling. In the Zero performance account the article says the drawdown locks at the initial balance, and the Zero payout article says the lock happens “the moment your first payout is processed”. Plan to the payout trigger, because nothing in the Zero sources says a closed-profit lock applies before then.

Worked example: 100K Signature, $3,000 EOD drawdown (E8’s own numbers)

DayWhat happenedEnd-of-day balanceNext day’s loss level
Start–$100,000$97,000
Day 1Closed +$1,000$101,000$98,000
Day 2Closed +$1,000$102,000$99,000
Day 3Closed -$1,000$101,000$99,000 (it never moves down)
Day 4Closed +$3,000$104,000$100,000 (locked)
Day 5+Any result–$100,000, static for the life of the account

On a Zero 100K challenge the same days would put the loss level at $101,000 after day 4, because it keeps trailing. If you were at $104,000 and needed $6,500 profit, you would be trading with $3,000 of room under your best close, not $4,000.

Breach mechanics. E8’s system closes positions automatically after the level is touched, “which might take a while”. If that close finishes above the level, the account is still breached and permanently closed. Daily Pause on E8 Signature Funded Accounts

The daily pause applies only to the Signature performance stage; the Signature challenge and both Zero accounts have no daily loss limit. E8 converts 2% of the initial balance into a fixed dollar amount that never changes, and each day sets pause line = that day’s starting balance – fixed amount. If equity or balance falls to the line, trading pauses until 00:00 server time. The account is not breached.
