We checked 13 prop firms on October 3, 2026 to find which prop firms with monthly subscription billing really rebill every month, what stops the rebill, and what an activation fee at pass adds. Seven products bill every 30 days and are on sale today. Ranked by cost per $1,000 of overall loss room if you pass in month one: Topstep Trading Combine 50K, No Activation Fee path, $47.50 ($95 a month, $2,000 limit; $95.00 if you need month two), TradeDay Quick Pay Intraday $65.50, Phidias Fundamental monthly $125.20, Apex Trader Funding Legacy 50K Full $128.80 (back for a limited time), Take Profit Trader $150.00, Earn2Trade Gauntlet Mini $154.50 and Elite Trader Funding Static 50K $337.00. On the same formula, one-time products from FundedNext ($57.50), FTMO ($71.62) and FundedNext Futures ($89.33) all beat Topstep’s month-two cost. Elite Trader Funding and Apex legacy keep billing after you pass until you pay activation; Take Profit Trader keeps billing after a breach. MyFundedFutures and Bulenox moved from monthly to one-time billing in 2026, and Phidias’s monthly Fundamental plan costs more than its $580 one-time version from month three.

Quick answer and quick picks for prop firms with monthly subscription billing

Prop firms with monthly subscription billing charge your card every 30 days until you pass or cancel, and most add an activation fee when you pass. The cheapest one we found is Topstep’s No Activation Fee path, and it stays cheapest among monthly products even if you need a second month. If you expect to need more than a month, a one-time product of the same size usually costs less.

  • Cheapest if you pass fast: Topstep Trading Combine 50K, No Activation Fee path, $47.50 per $1,000 of loss room in month one.
  • Cheapest if you need two months: Topstep again at $95.00; Standard becomes the cheaper Topstep path only from month four.
  • Easiest to cancel: TradeDay. A CANCEL MEMBERSHIP button in the member menu stops billing at once, and passing stops it too.
  • No activation fee at pass: TradeDay on every plan, and Topstep on its No Activation Fee path. Earn2Trade defers its $139 to your first payout.

Monthly subscription vs one-time fee prop firms, explained

Prop firms with monthly subscription billing compared with a one-time fee: Month 1, Month 2 and Month 3 cards each charged again, beside one One-time fee card
A monthly subscription charges again each month until something stops it; a one-time fee is charged once.

A monthly subscription rebills about every 30 days until one of three things happens: you pass, you cancel, or (at some firms) you activate the funded account. A one-time fee is charged once, the evaluation runs for a set window or with no time limit, and a failed attempt means buying again. The monthly model looks cheaper on the sticker because the first month is usually less than a comparable one-time fee; it gets more expensive with every month you need.

Phidias shows the trade-off with its own prices because it sells Fundamental 50K both ways. On the monthly path you pay $164 for each month plus $149 when you pass: $313 if you pass in month one, $477 in month two and $641 in month three. The one-time path costs $580 and nothing more. So the monthly path saves $267 if you pass in the first month, saves $103 if you pass in the second, and costs $61 more if you need a third. That third month is the crossover.

Two more patterns change the math. An activation fee can stack on the monthly price at pass (Topstep Standard, Phidias, Take Profit Trader, Apex legacy), or be taken from a later payout (Earn2Trade). And at two firms, billing does not stop when you pass: Elite Trader Funding and Apex legacy accounts keep charging until you pay or choose activation. Firms that changed billing
  1. Billing proof: a product ranks only if the firm’s own checkout, terms or billing help article says the charge recurs and names what stops it, and the product is on sale today. A price label reading “per month” was not enough.
  2. One product per firm: the 50K variant with the lowest cost per $1,000 of loss room among its genuine monthly products, with the firm’s other plans priced in its section.
  3. Cost per $1,000 of loss room: (monthly list price x months + activation fee) divided by the overall maximum loss in dollars, times 1,000. Never a daily loss limit, a per-trade rule or a minimum balance. Codes are shown in each firm’s section with their end date, and never rank.
  4. Two paces: month one assumes you pass inside the first billing cycle; month two assumes one extra cycle. Both sit in the same row.
  5. Same formula for one-time products: FTMO, FundedNext, FundedNext Futures and Apex’s new accounts are priced at one purchase, so the comparison is direct.

A live call-up (the firm moving you to a live account) is named first among the watch-outs in each section. It never moves a firm up or down this ranking, because this post’s test is about billing.

Notes on this ranking: each cost cell is (monthly list price x months + activation fee) divided by the product’s overall loss limit in dollars, times 1,000; code prices never rank. * The loss limit trails your intraday high rather than end-of-day balances: at every stage on TradeDay Quick Pay Intraday and the Apex legacy evaluation, and at the funded PRO stage on Take Profit Trader. On an end-of-day limit, TradeDay’s cheapest plan is Fast Pass EOD at $94.50, which would still sit second. † Apex sells legacy accounts as a limited-time offer with no end date, and its own legacy overview article still says they are no longer for sale; we saw a live signup form on October 3, 2026. Without this row, Take Profit Trader moves up to fourth. Apex legacy billing also continues after a pass until the $125 PA fee is paid. ‡ Earn2Trade takes the $139 activation fee from your first profit withdrawal rather than at pass; without it, Gauntlet Mini costs $85.00 per $1,000 in month one and would rank third. § Elite Trader Funding’s activation is a choice of $177 once or $87 a month, and billing continues after a pass until you choose; the ranked cost uses $177. With the first $87 month instead, month one is $292.00, still last. Take Profit Trader’s $170 price was last read on September 27 and September 30, 2026, because its price selector blocked our browser on October 3, 2026. Month two assumes one extra billing cycle before you pass; it is shown in the same row order, not re-sorted. Every product is the 50K size.

Topstep, the cheapest monthly subscription prop firm if you pass fast

Topstep sells the same $50,000 Trading Combine two ways, and the path with the higher monthly sticker is the cheaper one for almost every buyer. The No Activation Fee path costs $95 a month and charges nothing when you pass. The Standard path costs $49 a month but adds a $149 Express Funded activation fee the moment you pass, so a one-month pass costs $198 on Standard against $95 on the No Activation Fee path. Standard only becomes the cheaper path from a fourth billing month ($49 x 4 + $149 = $345, against $95 x 4 = $380); at three months the No Activation Fee path still wins ($285 against $296). Topstep locks the path at purchase, so the choice cannot be changed later.

Video: “What Is a Topstep Express Funded Account (XFA)? | Funded Trader Payouts Explained,” Topstep official YouTube channel, May 14, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: Topstep’s own short explainer of the funded account the subscription leads to. No official Topstep video covers billing or cancellation on its own.

  • Billing, in the firm’s words: “The Trading Combine® is a monthly subscription. It Rebills every 30 days from your original sign-up date. Active until you pass and earn an Express Funded Account® (XFA), or until you cancel.” (source)
  • What stops it, and how to cancel: Passing ends the subscription on its own. Before that, you cancel from the Topstep dashboard; neither the pricing article nor the subscription article asks for a support ticket.
  • Activation fee at pass: $0 on the No Activation Fee path. The Standard path charges $149 once per funded account, payable from the dashboard as soon as you pass.
  • Cost at month one and month two: $95 x 1 + $0 = $95, divided by the $2,000 overall loss limit = $47.50 per $1,000 in month one; $190 = $95.00 per $1,000 if you need month two. The Standard path works out to $99.00 and $123.50.
  • Code price: Adding a daily loss limit at checkout drops the No Activation Fee path to $85 a month; Topstep describes the discount as recurring each month and shows no end date.
  • Choose it when: You expect to pass inside three billing months and want the lowest month-one cost in this post.
  • Watch out for: Live stage first: Topstep says you cannot decline the move to Live, and only 20% of your funded balance carries over as the starting live balance (Topstep says 0.71% of funded traders were called up in 2025). Then billing: the subscription keeps rebilling every 30 days until you pass or cancel, and Trustpilot reviewers describe renewals they did not notice.
  • Trustpilot: 3.6/5 on 14,892 reviews (read October 2, 2026).

TradeDay, the monthly subscription prop firm that is easiest to cancel

No firm in this post spells out cancellation as plainly as TradeDay’s help center does. All three of its $50,000 plans bill monthly with $0 activation: Quick Pay Intraday at $131, Quick Pay EOD at $175 and Fast Pass EOD at $189. Quick Pay Intraday is the cheapest per $1,000 of loss room, but its $2,000 loss limit trails your intraday high at every stage and never locks. Fast Pass EOD trails on end-of-day balances and locks at your starting balance after the first payout; it costs $94.50 per $1,000 in month one and $189.00 in month two, the better pick if you want a floor that stops moving. Fast Pass needs 3 trading days at minimum; Quick Pay states no minimum.

  • Billing, in the firm’s words: “Your first payment starts on the day you sign up for a paid membership, and then it will recur every 30 days until you pass the evaluation or choose to cancel your subscription.” (source)
  • What stops it, and how to cancel: Passing stops it: “once you have passed, we cease all monthly billing for the membership site.” To cancel, open the drop-down menu at the top right of any member page and select CANCEL MEMBERSHIP; TradeDay says billing stops as soon as you cancel and it closes access to the trading account at its broker.
  • Activation fee at pass: $0 on every TradeDay plan: “TradeDay no longer has an activation fee.”
  • Cost at month one and month two: $131 x 1 = $131, divided by the $2,000 loss limit = $65.50 per $1,000 in month one; $262 = $131.00 per $1,000 in month two.
  • Code price: Code TDNEW cuts Quick Pay Intraday to $59 a month, and the reduced rate repeats every cycle; TradeDay shows no end date.
  • Choose it when: You want a self-service cancel button and no activation fee, and you can trade inside an intraday trailing limit (or pay more for Fast Pass EOD).
  • Watch out for: Live stage first: Fast Pass moves you to a live account that starts at a $0 balance at your fifth payout request, with no option to stay in simulation, and Quick Pay is reviewed at $10,000 of gross profit, with profit above that level forfeited. Billing: a dated Trustpilot complaint describes a CoPilot add-on still being charged after cancellation, with the refund refused.
  • Trustpilot: 4.6/5 on 1,441 reviews (read September 30, 2026).

Phidias, a monthly subscription prop firm that also sells the same plan once

Phidias is the cleanest test of monthly against one-time because it prices the identical product both ways. Fundamental 50K costs $164 a month plus a $149 fee when you pass, or $580 once with no activation fee. Premium 50K costs $329 a month plus $149, or $723 once. Both carry a $2,500 end-of-day trailing loss limit. Phidias also sells Express to Live 50K, a separate one-time-only product at $723 with a $650 static loss limit; it has no monthly option at all and costs far more per $1,000 of loss room ($1,112.31).

Video: “Why You Keep Failing Your Prop Firm Evaluation (50,000 Traders Data),” Phidias official YouTube channel, July 29, 2026. Source type: vendor-produced. Why selected: Phidias’s own data video on why evaluations fail, which matters here because a failed month is the cost driver on the monthly path. No official Phidias video covers billing.

  • Billing, in the firm’s words: “Billing begins for each User on the day of their registration and will continue every month (30-day cycle), regardless of the account situation.” (source)
  • What stops it, and how to cancel: The terms tie billing to the evaluation: it is owed “as long as the account has not been validated following a successful evaluation or canceled by the User.” Phidias does not say whether cancelling is a dashboard button or a support request.
  • Activation fee at pass: $149, “Charged once when you pass your evaluation. Not recurring.”
  • Cost at month one and month two: $164 x 1 + $149 = $313, divided by the $2,500 loss limit = $125.20 per $1,000 in month one; $477 = $190.80 per $1,000 in month two; $641 = $256.40 by month three, above the one-time path’s $232.00.
  • Code price: Code Q4PUSH shows Fundamental at $65.60 a month, a rate that repeats each cycle; the banner says “Limited time” with no date.
  • Choose it when: You are confident of passing within two billing months; otherwise the one-time path at $580 removes the pace risk.
  • Watch out for: Live stage first: Fundamental and Premium carry a move to live after 5 payouts or $100,000 of profit, decided by Phidias alone, and Phidias does not say what a decliner keeps. Billing: all subscriptions are final, with “no returns, refunds or exchanges.”
  • Trustpilot: rating hidden behind Trustpilot’s “breach of our guidelines” banner, 336 reviews (read October 2, 2026).

Apex Trader Funding legacy accounts, a monthly subscription back for a limited time

Apex switched every new evaluation to a one-time fee on March 1, 2026, yet its site now sells the old monthly accounts again. The “Legacy Accounts Are Back” page lists six sizes on three platforms, and the Legacy 50K Full costs $197 a month with a $125 one-time fee to open the funded (PA) account. Its $2,500 trailing threshold follows the highest live value of the account during trades, not closed trades, and stops moving once the account reaches $52,600. Apex’s own legacy overview article still says “as of March 1st, 2026, Legacy evaluation accounts are no longer available for purchase to anyone,” while the sales page says they are “available only while the promotion lasts” and no end date is shown. We saw a working signup form for the 50K Full on October 3, 2026, and did not submit it.

  • Billing, in the firm’s words: “When you pass the evaluation, the fees for your Evaluation Account continue until you pay the PA activation fee to convert your evaluation into a performance account.” (source)
  • What stops it, and how to cancel: Passing does not stop it; paying the PA fee converts the evaluation and cancels its subscription. A failed evaluation does not cancel either: “To cancel, you must log in to your Members’ Area and manually cancel your subscription.” A reset does not change the billing date, and a failed renewal gets a 72-hour grace period.
  • Activation fee at pass: $125, listed as a one-time PA fee on the 50K Full card. The billing article adds that “the fees for the PA account will begin” on conversion without naming any amount beyond that card.
  • Cost at month one and month two: $197 x 1 + $125 = $322, divided by the $2,500 loss limit = $128.80 per $1,000 in month one; $519 = $207.60 per $1,000 in month two.
  • Code price: Code SAVENOW showed $19.70 a month on the legacy cards on October 3, 2026, with a countdown that ends about October 13, 2026. Apex does not say whether the coupon applies to renewals.
  • Choose it when: You specifically want Apex’s older rules with resets, you will pay the $125 PA fee the day you pass, and you are comfortable buying a product Apex labels limited-time.
  • Watch out for: Live stage first: Apex says it may move a trader to live trading at any time; a trader who declines is deactivated and paid a final $3,000, with other simulated balances forfeited. Billing: the subscription keeps charging after a pass until the PA fee is paid, and after a failure until you cancel it yourself.
  • Trustpilot: 4.2/5 on 21,181 reviews (read October 2, 2026).

Take Profit Trader, a monthly subscription that keeps billing after a breach

Breaking a rule at Take Profit Trader ends your attempt but not your subscription. The 50K Trading Test costs $170 a month, charged on the same calendar day as your first purchase, and passing adds a $130 one-time PRO activation fee. The test needs 3 trading days at minimum, cut from 5 on August 17, 2026. The $2,000 loss limit trails end-of-day balances in the test, then trails your intraday peak, open profit included, once you reach the funded PRO account. We could not reopen the firm’s price selector on October 3, 2026 (it blocked our browser), so the $170 price comes from reads on September 27 and September 30, 2026; the billing terms come from the firm’s help article, read live.

  • Billing, in the firm’s words: “You will be charged a subscription fee each month on the same calendar day as the original purchase. If you break a rule, your subscription will not cancel automatically.” (source)
  • What stops it, and how to cancel: Only a pass cancels it automatically: “Once you successfully pass your trading test, your subscription will be automatically canceled.” After a breach you cancel it yourself through the Cancelling My Subscription flow in your account.
  • Activation fee at pass: $130 once, due when you pass.
  • Cost at month one and month two: $170 x 1 + $130 = $300, divided by the $2,000 loss limit = $150.00 per $1,000 in month one; $470 = $235.00 per $1,000 in month two.
  • Code price: Code NOFEE40 cuts the test to $102 a month, repeating each cycle, and waives the $130 activation fee; the firm calls it limited-time with no end date.
  • Choose it when: You will pass inside one month and accept a trailing intraday limit once funded.
  • Watch out for: Live stage first: the PRO+ live move is at Take Profit Trader’s discretion, no decline option is published, and $5,000 of PRO profit is held back as a reserve. Billing: a paid reset does not move the renewal date; a 1-star Trustpilot review dated September 24, 2026 describes passing on the renewal date and having to pay the renewal before the account moved to PRO.
  • Trustpilot: 4.4/5 on 10,733 reviews (read October 3, 2026).

Earn2Trade, a monthly subscription prop firm that takes activation from your first payout

Earn2Trade is the only firm here that never asks for the activation fee at the moment you pass. The Gauntlet Mini 50K costs $170 a month and the Trader Career Path TCP50 costs $190; both carry a $2,000 end-of-day trailing loss limit. The $139 activation fee for non-professional traders is taken out of your first profit withdrawal instead, so a trader who never withdraws never sees it charged; professional traders pay $135 to $140 per month per exchange instead. The ranked cost still counts the $139, because you pay it before your first dollar of profit reaches you. TCP50 works out to $164.50 per $1,000 in month one and $259.50 in month two. Earn2Trade rotates discount codes, so we did not price one.

  • Billing, in the firm’s words: “The subscription renews automatically every 30 days until you pass the evaluation or cancel your subscription.” (source)
  • What stops it, and how to cancel: Passing ends the evaluation charge. Earn2Trade does not publish whether cancelling is a self-service button or a support request, and the checkout box reads “I agree to the Terms and Conditions, and to the monthly billing.”
  • Activation fee at pass: $139, “deducted from their first profit withdrawal,” not charged at pass.
  • Cost at month one and month two: $170 x 1 + $139 = $309, divided by the $2,000 loss limit = $154.50 per $1,000 in month one; $479 = $239.50 per $1,000 in month two.
  • Code price: No current code was priced; codes rotate and Earn2Trade does not publish one fixed rate.
  • Choose it when: You want no lump sum at the moment you pass and are fine with the fee coming out of your first payout.
  • Watch out for: Live stage first: Earn2Trade does not publish whether a trader can decline the live stage, and that stage switches to an intraday trailing limit on open profit. Billing: a 1-star Trustpilot review dated September 28, 2026 says cancelling the monthly subscription removed every $50,000 evaluation account the trader held, and support refused to restore them; cancel only after your attempts have ended.
  • Trustpilot: 4.6/5 on 5,012 reviews (read October 3, 2026).

Elite Trader Funding, a monthly subscription that keeps billing after you pass

Passing the Static 50K evaluation at Elite Trader Funding does not, on its own, stop the $497 charge. The Static 50K Eval renews every 30 days at $497 with a $2,000 static loss limit, the only static limit among the monthly products ranked here. After a pass you choose how to activate, $87 a month or $177 once, and the evaluation subscription keeps renewing until you do. The firm’s own one-time alternative, Direct to Funded 50K, costs $747 once with no activation fee and a $5,000 end-of-day trailing limit, $149.40 per $1,000, less than half the Static path’s month-one cost on this measure.

  • Billing, in the firm’s words: “If an Account or other Service you utilize is subject to recurring automatic billing/charges, it is YOUR responsibility to cancel your subscription, either through our platform or by reaching out to our customer service team at support@elitetraderfunding.com.” (source)
  • What stops it, and how to cancel: An activation choice or an active cancellation stops it, and the terms name two channels: the platform itself or an email to support. The evaluation and simulated funded subscriptions are cancelled automatically only when you go live.
  • Activation fee at pass: $87 a month or $177 once, chosen after the pass. The ranked cost uses the $177 one-time option.
  • Cost at month one and month two: $497 x 1 + $177 = $674, divided by the $2,000 loss limit = $337.00 per $1,000 in month one; $1,171 = $585.50 per $1,000 in month two.
  • Code price: No promo shown on this product when we checked.
  • Choose it when: You want a static loss limit on a monthly product and will activate the day you pass.
  • Watch out for: Live stage first: the LIVE ELITE move is at the firm’s sole discretion and cannot be declined without forfeiting the simulated balance; a decliner gets 5% of earnings up to $12,500 plus 2% above that, and a two-year ban. Billing: every subscription payment is final, with no refunds.

The Phidias crossover month for monthly subscription vs one-time

Phidias prices Fundamental and Premium 50K both ways on the same page, so the month where the monthly path stops paying off can be read straight from its own numbers.

Phidias Fundamental and Premium 50K priced monthly and one-time, and the month the monthly path costs more.
Phidias 50K productMonthly pathOne-time pathMonthly dearer from
Fundamental$164/mo + $149 at pass$580 once, $0 activationMonth 3 ($641 vs $580)
Premium$329/mo + $149 at pass$723 once, $0 activationMonth 2 ($807 vs $723)

Fundamental’s monthly path stays cheaper through month two ($477 against $580) and costs more from month three ($641). Premium’s monthly path is cheaper only in month one ($478 against $723); by month two it is $807. On our per-$1,000 measure, Fundamental monthly runs $125.20, $190.80 and $256.40 across three months against $232.00 for the one-time path, and Premium monthly runs $191.20 an
